For a minute there he nearly convinced me he was world class, but his last 3 games have been rubbish. He just seems to give up at times. Though this Barca side would make prime Pele look like Dirk Kuyt I reckon
In this very similar Barcelona side, Messi was the top scorer and finished top 3.

So bottom line is, Depay is not as good as some beleive he is.

He’s a much less exciting player than his reputation suggests. I was happy when we got rid of him.

Surely no one in the history of the world believes Memphis is nearly as good as Messi?!

what I meant was that Depay is not even world class.
Indeed he's not. Which is what I meant when I said he almost convinced me with those first few games. I think talentwise he's up there, but mentally and consistency fall way short.

Typical Redcafe, judge one game and ignore the last 4 years.

I'd easily have him over Martial.
Typical redcafe, longing for an ex player who was not good enough for a top side.
A few alright games for Barca doesn’t change that and now, as is Depay standard he’s back in a wank spell.
I’ll see the season out before claiming anything different, as of now it’s exactly as I expected.

Is taking him over Martial longing for him? Have you watched Martial in the last 15 months?

Certain? that's so nuts. Martial has 1 NT goal

edit: 2
Who cares about his international record, well except the dutch?

Yarmolenko has a great record for Ukraine and he isn't even a starter for WHU.

Martial also scored 17 in 32 PL games so yeah, in that league he’d absolutely twat it. I mean, even in his worst ever season he’s shit all over Depay’s PL record.
Yesterday, from the same position (Left wing) he’s already 50% along the way to match Depay in the PL, after just 1 start.

The fact that Depay is a main man for Holland and a nailed on starter to rack up those numbers, whilst Martial can barely make the French squad, is why France are often tournament favourites and Holland are stuck in the wilderness.

Did really well vs Valencia. Scored a pen and got an assist but more importantly he created chances.

At this point, I think he's proving to be 'good enough' as a starter for Barca, ie a top 4 La Liga side.

Loses the ball too much, not enough of pace, has the odd invisible game. Not a world class player, but we all knew that.

Needs great players around him. Meaning Ansu Fati and Aguero. Meaning that he will be crap if those two are not good enough this season. Luuk de Jong and Depay together were terrible 2/3 weeks ago.

How has he been at Barcelona?

Is he playing to the Netherlands International team level or is he still showing to be a good player with bits missing stopping him being top class for a top club?

Think pretty much this. He has misses in his game.

I feel like very few forwards don't however, mainly Benzema, Mbappe, Lewandowski, Haaland etc.

What he has been performing for Holland the past few years, very few forwards have cone close to that consistent return, be it goals or assists.

I think he is doing quite a good job there, definitely an asset for Barcelona who provides threat in their attack and his numbers are ok (6 goals, 2 assists in 12 matches). It's also clear that (as of yet) he is not the superstar for Barca who elevates them to a higher level overall..

I don't think that he ever will be a player that elevates his team. At Lyon he developed into someone you can rely on when the team is clicking but someone that won't help you much otherwise, the good thing is that he isn't a negative, he used to be during his first months in France where he would try to play some hero football but he eventually stopped.

His chance creation has been better than the numbers imply. Happens when you rely on De Jong and Dest to finish your chances....

You know what's sort of weird. He will more than likely end as our all time top scorer ahead of the likes of Ruud, Kluivert, Van Basten, Huntelaar, Van Persie, Robben etc. And he's not even always played as a striker.

No player has won his team more goals than Memphis Depay in La Liga this season, 7 points with 7 goals.

He will likely finish as Holland's top scorer and top assister. Might not be world class but easily a very good player and one of the better forwards out there.

Many strikers who are number one choice strikers playing for their national teams at the moment are one of top scorers in their history.

I think many of those nations also havent had greater goalscorers if I think of Lukaku, Ronaldo, Messi..

Kane will get there, Neymar and Depay are some of the most surprising.

Winning goal yesterday again.. anyone saying he isnt doing well or is underperfoming at Barca is far off in my book.

Cant be easy be their only attacking threat for the majority of the season so far.. With his share of important goals he is definitely delivering..

8 goals in 19 games (according to transfermarkt) this season. Not bad, not great though especially when you're the main man for Barcelona.

A lot of those games the others forwards were Dest and Luuk de Jong, who bottled chance after chance.
Memphis could have had 10 more assists (and maybe some goals as well) if he was playing with Dan James and Benteke.
Looking at his chance creation would be a better metric to see how well he's done.
