Guess he's done and it's time to retire, is 61 and maybe doesn't have the hunger anymore.

Everton is like us. They have no direction. Going from Martinez, to Silva, to Big Sam, to Kooman, to Ancelloti and now to Rafa, makes absolutely no sense. They also sign players on big money just for their profile, eg James, Rooney. The only difference is that at least they have put money for their stadium.

I've been thinking this for a while. Rudderless as feck while our city neighbours laugh and borderline pity the state we're in. Grim.

Completely agree. They're all over the place. Just like we are.

Not a surprise that he's gone.

Everton just look rudderless atm. Different managerial appointments, money thrown at players with a number of expensive flops, DoF fired, fans angry at owners.

We deserve to be relegated this year. Not sure who is best for us right now. I just can’t see anything positive due to the owners at the club.

He should just take a very long break from football and rethink his strategy or end up with a job at Norwich

I thought Ancelotti did it quite well to be fair,
The Club have spent a fortune aswell something like £500 million and have nothing to show for it.

He’s been a rubbish manager for years, and gets his reputation based off events from 20 years ago. Crazy how he keeps getting jobs.

It’ll be awesome to see Rooney get that gig.
Honestly I hope he doesn't.

He's got a chance to making himself a manager legend at Derby if he keeps them up. If he goes they 100% get relegated and his reputation there gets tarnished for abandoning a sinking ship (despite initially staying in one)

Oh absolutely, Ancelloti did fine. I can't even blame Koeman. Signing Rooney was like a death sentence.

Football is such a bizarre industry.

They let shit manager spend £17m on Mykolenko.

They let a shit manager sell Digne on Thursday

Then sack shit manager on Sunday.

Now on the hunt for new manager, who many not like Mykolenko.

I think you're overthinking this.

This proves that sometimes fans know better.

Terrible appointment in the first place.

They should go all out to get Potter not sure he'd go there though.
That would be a terrible decision by Potter. He'll have better placed clubs calling him if he just keeps doing what he's doing at Brighton.

If we were midtable and not in danger of relegation I think it would be a good decision but aye, the state of the club now, he'd be mad to join. We should have went for him in the summer.

Across how many years? And how do they compare with the rest of the top spenders in the league in the same period?

Yeah absolutely, my answer to that suggestion would have been totally different last summer. The entire set up at Everton just seems utterly dysfunctional right now and not really a place you want to walk into as an promising up and coming manager.

Agreed, which is why it's tricky to understand how to replace Benitez now. It's 1-2 months too late. Morale and dignity at the club was salvageable pre-December but right now it's a state. Feels like United where there are too many individuals/cliques and not a collective group of players that will fight for everything and everyone.

If you look at last season compared to this year it's bad in terms of productivity and goals.

Our top scorers last year DCL and Richy have been injured loads which has hampered us - they scored 21 and 13 goals in total. The next two on the list - Mr Iceland and Rodriguez are no longer at the club. Our top three assisters from last year are Mr Iceland, Rodriguez and Digne. None are with the club now.

It's funny how alike Everton are to us in recent years. The problems they face, the mistakes they've made, the things their fans moan about, it's all exactly the same as United except on a lower budget.

There's some of them calling for Martinez back on Grand Old Team.

I know, I'll just abandon this here strong national side in a World Cup year to parachute into 16th place Everton in January.

He is Spanish though, the only insulting part is the fat part. I can't really get on board with this being racist or xenophobic.
I know, just posting it because ballbag is in meltdown that one of his mates has been sacked. It's preposterous.

Selling digne made no sense to me. Solid left back who provides more than a few assists and good from dead ball.
