If we keep making progress in our style of play and get into top 4 I wouldn’t mind giving Ragnick another year unless Ten Hag is only available this summer.

As things are right now my list of priorities would be Ten Hag, Enrique followed by Potter. Not sure if Pochettino would be a wise choice.

We haven't operated this way for close to ten years and why would we start now when we have seen the risk that comes with this strategy? Every year we have slackened off we have paid heavily.

If the Glazers wanted a guaranteed spot in the top four on the cheap they have the guy for it right now in the dugout, a simple Google search would have told them that they got their guy. Everyone in football knows that Ralf is an expert in building teams cheaply and the targets he had reported identified for us reflect his ethos but the club have ignored them because they don't want to compromise the permanent manager's budget for the summer.

I think they want to win but they don't want to go the extra mile and they don't know the right people in the industry that can organize a club for them. So they relied overly on Woodward and he has surrounded himself with cronies like Judge who he knew would never challenge him plus I think we ignore too much the nationalistic tilt within our club, we had DoFs around Europe throwing themselves at our feet but we chose an inside guy, why? Luis Campo, Ralf Rangnick amongst others are way more proven than Murtough and Fletcher and would have come, built a team more efficiently than Ole and Murtough's ridiculously expensive cultural reboot but we ignored them.

If Arnold can not extricate himself from the hold of the old boy network he will fail too. Even bringing Ten Hag won't change a thing as long as we still have untouchables within the club, I think our British contingent within the dressing room and club are over protected by Woodward and there is a number of them in the playing squad that you just know that they won't cut it under Ten Hag but would he get the backing to bring in possession oriented players if he demands them? Especially at the expense of some of our flops on big contracts?

Ten Hag is a systems manager and I like what he has done but if we aren't going to back him if he tells us to replace Bissaka, Shaw or McFred then we shouldn't bother wasting his time or ours. Just bring in Poch who would be more pragmatic and knows the league well enough to negotiate a top four finish. If we consistently finish in the top four and keep building we will definitely challenge one day.
You already said at the beginning of your post that the risks of going for top 4 mean inevitably standards drop and we will fall out of top 4. I just don’t see any way will we improve by scraping top 4 every season when the competition is doing everything they can to win.

I completely agree about getting in competent people and Break up the old boys network. I disagree that the Glazers and board want to win. They have always shown a huge lack of ambition with appointments, signings, extensions and delayed sackings. Can’t think of anything they have ever done since signing RVP (more so Fergie led) that showed ambition to win.

The reluctance to let Donny go on loan with option to buy, as they don't want to let him go in-case the new manager wants him, points towards Ten Hag being the Number 1 candidate

Is Nagelsmann out of the picture altogether? Think if he doesn't win the CL Bayern are going to sack him won't they?

Maybe some of our German posters can comment. I can't pretend I'm up on the German football chat. However, it would be strange to sack Nagelsmann given how well Bayern seems to be playing.

Of course, Nagelsmann would be the ideal successor to Rangnick. I just can't see how he will be free to take over next season.

I would argue that Tuchel is more likely to get fired than Nagelsmann. But I guess both is more likely to continue for another year than not.

Tuchel would have been great.

It's his first season, they are playing well and most likely win the league. The cup exit was embarrassing but as long as such games don't become a habit he isn't in danger. Pep didn't get fired and he wasn’t any better than Nagelsmann so far.

When do you think he is up for a real challenge? Or is he someone who rather prefer to «compete» in a league where the title is walkover and considered «given»?
The guy is 34. Not sure if your post is serious so as to insinuate hes taking it easy.

He is 34. He is currently coaching his third CL club. His work in Hoffenheim and Leipzig was definitely a challenge and he did well.

He now is in the position to challenge for the CL and he will be judged by his success there.

What would you consider to be a challenge for him, if not what he was and is doing so far?

I've never really seen any benefit to the loaning club in including an option to buy. An obligation to buy is great but an option only helps the other side.

We ask for far to high transfer values which is why Pereira & Lingard are still here

we also pay ridiculous wages to back up players which makes it harder for smaller clubs to take these players unless we pay the player the remaining balance ie Sanchez and i am confident we are paying a portion of Martials wages aswell

The Sun reckon RR may end up as permanent manager as he is impressing behind the scenes as results on pitch are improving.

I’m not adversed to this idea although it goes without saying the likes of Ten Hag and Pochettino would be great options if they were to become available this summer and we shouldn’t miss the boat on either (Ten Hag in particular).

Maybe the board are scared that if he moves into the consultancy role that he will make too many changes that they don't like and actually start to make us into a modern football club. Hence maybe they want him to stay on as manager after the summer.

New manager wil come in where Lingard, Pogba, Martial, Cavani, Mata, Matic and VDB & Henderson may all be off the wage bill.

Think Ronaldo goes if we finish outside top 4 which looks likley with way were playing.

Tough job ahead for whoever is the manager.

Better get use to battling it out with Brighton, Leicester, Wolves for the middle of the table.
As long as this board and the Glazers are here, that's the way it's gonna be mate. No signings this window and we lose McTominay and Fred to injury, and we are fecked.
If we don't sign a DM we are going out of Champions League and FA cup and will not get into top 4. Then Rangnick is blamed. Same Old Same Old.

United want retweets and interactions the new manager will be in preliminary talks with united regarding views, transfers and tactics.

My money is on Ten Hag & Poch rumours circulating strongly around March when we are out of Champions league and it will all depend on who performs better in the champions league

Ten Hag has to be the one build two teams and competed in the Champions league against much more financially stronger sides than his

Whats newsnow?
Its a collection of all the journalism around a subject. You can specifically set it to a certain thing. I got mine on Man Utd and anything in the media about Utd it will show on the 'page' for you to read. Just google it.

When you say journalism is that a loose term for "scraping the Internet for articles", because that wouldn't tell us a lot.
