Based on what we have and what's available in the market of course stay. Don't give me this bs about ten hag coming in means we need everyone to be young. We also need a proven goalscorer. Something this team has none of except Ronaldo.

Newbies nowadays are far more aggressive than what they used to be.
Its a personality trait. If you think you calling me a newbie has any sort of effect on me you couldn’t be farther from the truth haha

It depends on whether we have any alternatives. With the greenwood thing, Haaland not coming here, Rashford being wank, we'd be very short on options. Great strikers in their youth or prime is rare in the current generation.

Except PSG are doing it, they have been carrying Messi this whole season who's been on the same pace this season as Ronaldo in a far easier league.

We get it, you dislike or maybe even hate Ronaldo for whatever reason/s.

But you're speaking like you know him personally that we won't accept reduced wages or that his wages even amount to 500k for the club after commercial value is deducted, or that he won't accept a reduced role either.
Why are you bringing up Messi, I never mentioned Messi, there's a big Messi vs Ronaldo thread for you if you want to discuss that. I think PSG should move on from Messi (and Neymar) too if they want to win the Champions League next season. It's irrelevant to what United should do or not do next season. What's your point, that it's worked for PSG? It hasn't and it hasn't worked for United either (as an overall team), we're out of all cups in March and struggling to get top 4.

What part of Ronaldo's personality that you've seen in the past 15 years suggests to you that he will be told that he's not going to be an important player after being top scorer this season, and he will take that gracefully without issue?

I would argue the opposite, we would be idiots to keep him if the opportunity arose to get the money back. Ten Hag pitched a long-term plan, he’s 38 next year. Following season 39. Salary space isn’t unlimited, you can’t just carry £500k a week wages or whatever it is in a squad willy-nilly. Not even City or PSG do that. Every game he plays, a younger player who might be good in 2 or 3 doesn’t. Either building toward the future or not.
Planning for the long term doesn’t means sacrificing all of the present. The two are absolutely not mutially exclusive.

I respect your opinion. I still disagree with it. There’s not another player in the squad right now that guarantees 20+ goals a year. A new signing is always a risk. My solution: keep him, sign a promising young player to learn from him and both parties move on after next year.

He has carried the team all year and got nothing but abuse for it. Keep Ronaldo, ditch the manager and half the squad around him

He's been really wank in quite a lot of games tbh. He's also had his moments like today, but this thread wouldn't be full of moaning of it wasn't because he's looked a shadow of the player that he was.

Thank you for respecting my opinion, you don't always get that here. And I respect yours, I can see what you mean, and Ronaldo still obviously has worth in certain games. Norwich at home and equivalents, 100%, this time next year he could do the exact same thing. I just see issues with Ronaldo and the overall squad, given his massive standing in the game. You're talking one of the most famous footballers of all-time and one of the largest egos. And he's the best paid player in the league. These sorts of players tend not to take not playing very easily.

A shadow of the player he was yet has still scored the most goals out of anyone in a season for us in the last 8 years. He'll get zlatans record.

Give Ronaldo a proper midfield with a deep lying playmaker, along with consistent delivery from the fullbacks and wingers, we're good. Working on those positions will bring the progress, not getting rid of our best striker/best goalscorer of all time.

3rd top scorer in the league, in a god awful team with management which doesn't have a clue. Pretty impressive shadow.

He’s the 3rd highest scorer in the entire fecking league, in an absolute dogshite side that unquestionably look even more dogshit without him in it.

I shudder to think how this season would’ve looked without him.

The thread is full of moaning because if you haven’t noticed, the entire forum and every single player thread is full of fecking moaning. We’re wank, what do you expect?

Leave of course, he is done on highest level. Struggles with most basic touches these days.

I see "recency bias" influenced a lot of votes today, usual Caf...

Then why the hell has been this entire thread been about whether he's finished or not? He's had long spells of not scoring and failing at the basics of footballs like his touch, beating a man etc.

Leave. I want to see the team play as a team and I want us to build for the mid to long term.
Totally agree. He's still got it in moments but we're better off building for the future. Ideally he'd be a squad option and not paid a fortune but those are two variables that can't be changed.

There's been no carrying, he hasn't scored and been listless in two-thirds of his PL games. He's had 6 or 7 really good games to be fair to him, but that doesn't constitute carrying a team at all.

He's just scored his second hattrick of the season in the Premier League. Martial is the only player to manage one for utd in the last 8 years. He's obviously not done.

Ok stat Andy, let's ignore tons of horrible games he had and just look at numbers. He can go inflate his ego with numbers in another club.

I want proper team football from United from next season, not fecking Ronaldo FC where everyone wants to stroke his ego.

Using Man utd forwards post fergie is no good metric. We havn't had a world class striker in his prime since RVP in 2013.

He's had loads of dry spells and games where he's failed at the basics of football. He's had his moments as well, but he's not been as great as just looking at topscorer table suggests. He's had many games where he has been awful. Some pretty good. And his hattrick today and against spurs where he was world class.

If our own fans want a sure 20 goal man gone, Makes me wonder what PSG fans Think of Messi?? Seems to me some of us would rather see Martial walking about the pitch next season.

If you want posession based, attacking football then the work needs doing on the positions behind him. What a depressing outlook you have.

Stay. I feel he could really benefit in the haller role under Ten Hag.

Assuming of course we have a brand new midfield and not the fecking plodders like pogba, matic etc.

If Ten Hag wants us to play like Ajax (which I’m really hoping for), Ronaldo is definitely better than Haller.

There are two players without whom we would be much lower in the Prem than we are today; DDG and Ronaldo. Ronaldo has scored 21 goals this season and is far and away our top scorer, and DDG has saved us I dont know how many points with his goal keeping. I would make Ronaldo captain and use his experience, desire, belief and love of the club to inspire other players. Against Norwich he not only scored a hat trick he worked tirelessly to ensure we won the 3 points after slack, shoddy defending and play allowed Norwich back in the game. Used wisely and properly supported Ronaldo can be the catalyst we need next season.

Bruno was also third top scorer in the league last year and several posters actually pointed how his form wasn't great and his productivity was masking his overall poor contribution and now same thing is happening with Ronaldo it's not sustainable and conducive to build cohesive and progressive team .

This, if only he got some support from the other players. For his age and physicality he can actually be a good target man upfront for ETH

Stay of course! He is our best goalscorer and best player. We should build the team around him.

Our strikers post fergie have been average. I don't know Zlatans record.

Ronaldo can't hold up ball and looks lost as sole CF against any decent team with well organised defense , for his decent but not goal contribution trade off is just not worth it . Bringing new striker in Summer should be a priority .

Stay but with far less playing time. I think he could be a valuable experienced player but the club needs to start building for future success

The problem is the lack of available Great strikers. There is no one to bring in. Lukkaku these days go for 100 mil.

Leave..

We need a dynamic and strong CF who can press and make runs non stop and occupy defenders
