Nice critique of Rangnick’s time here. It also mentions how he had absolutely nothing to do with the removal of our scouts, this “he was brought in to review the club” narrative on here has absolutely no basis in reality and hasn’t been reported by any reputable source. The opposite in fact has been reported.
Mitten has been fairly dubious on him since he arrived to be honest but has been pretty consistent in saying that he's had little to no involvement in board room matters, even though fans are crediting him.

He's mentioned on Talk of the Devils quite a lot that he thinks a lot of RR public comments have been self preserving too

And they liked those same players a year ago. It feels like they have to hate the players to absolve RR. But it's getting ridiculous now...
You obviously didn't go into the players performance threads after almost every game last season if you think the players were generally liked. Most who didnt rate Ole said it wasn't going to be sustainable and here we are today.

The changes are due to the people who are in the position to affect those changes. I.e., Murtough, Arnold, Fletcher. Rangnick is the interim manager tasked and occupied with, as he himself has confirmed about three dozen times, coaching and preparing the team for the rest of the season and getting the best possible results and performances in the present.
He also has confirmed many times that he was not involved in the talks about the new manager and, until recently, hadn't spoken with the club board about the details of his consultancy nor any other strategic decisions. He's also not preparing a "dossier" where he "exposes" your players or any such nonsense.

Why are you guys so determined to attach acts and accomplishments to Ralf Rangnick that he clearly did not do and clearly could not have done? Why not actually credit your club's people who are doing those things, and who have managed to hire an excellent, exciting manager for the future? It's fecking weird and continues to be weird.
If Rangnick has been the driving force behind all the restructuring at United and if that restructuring leads to success then the clusterfeck we've had to endure the last 5 months would have been worth it, huge if though.

The alternative is Ralf hasn't had much at all to do with the changes upstairs and the last 5 months have been a waste of time and detrimental to the club and made Tan Hag's job more difficult without CL football.

So it's easy to see why some are choosing to believe the former.

He’s finished with them
I said this weeks ago about Rangnick. Didn't know who in his team were fasting. Never said nothing to Maguire when he got bomb threatened. You can tell he doesn't engage with his players so it's no surprise they're not responding to him. Yet his sycophants are quick to absolve him of any responsibility for the shitshow this season. He's never appeared bothered by any defeat.

Can't wait for this fraud to feck off to Austria.

Right, so if Murtough's the one who is competent and knows what he's doing, then why did he hire Ralf specifically if Ralf is so dreadful? The logic doesn't stand up. Surely most likely scenario is that if Murtough is competent, he avoided appointing a short term fix manager like Conte and opted for an expert in club building because he wanted some insight into the squad and how it could be prepared to become competitive in modern football again. That just seems so likely considering that Ralf's appointment has been followed by other structural changes and then Ten Hag.

But maybe Murtough is the competent mind behind it all and that's why he hired dreadful Rangnick so that we could miss top 4 and champions league money. Because that really makes sense..
Being competent and making a mistake aren't mutually exclusive.

Everyone makes mistakes even people who are very good at their jobs.

"I haven’t seen him because I only got to know about this terrible, terrible thing yesterday afternoon and since then I haven’t been able to speak with him.

"This is another bad sign of the crazy world we’re living in and obviously, I feel very sorry for Harry that he had that terrible experience. He knows that we are all behind him, the club is behind him, everybody, the players, his teammates. It’s sad enough that crazy things like that happen."

It’s those that were adamant all our previous woes we’re due to rubbish coaches and no tactics. Struggling to come to terms with the original German hipster tactician doing a really shit job.
Yep, 100% this. No coincidence that suddenly all the armchair tactical rants have stopped as well. At least the coaches aren't getting abused week in week out anymore.

These players needed a motivator and simple tactics. It's not ridiculous to say someone like Big Sam would have been a better choice in getting something from this season.

Rangnick is not the reason we're not getting Top 4. The players are the reason. I wish we as supporters would stop letting them off the hook.

Again, there can be more than 1 reason at a time. A lot of the players are playing like total shit and a lot aren't good enough and need moving on but he has also been absolutely shit, top 4 still could have been achievable under an actual coach rather than someone who has had 1 year in the last decade coaching a top flight team.

Andy Mitten on the full anti Rangnick train now
Andy Mitten is a good journalist but this stinks of client journalism.

I hope he’s picked his side correctly and isn’t tickling the balls of players that are about to be shown the door.

Try reading the post again.
People are saying it, we agree. You said people weren't saying it but obviously realised you were wrong. Now you're saying people are saying it but trying to justify it. You're all over the shop but I forgive you.

Guys, Ralf is the problem, we should let the mighty Ten Hag win the league with this squad no need to change the squad, the manager is the problem.

People should be sincere, this is a team with an average of 46 goals conceded in a season for the last 4 seasons.
The season we conceded 36 goals, the lowest in that period, we scored more goals playing primarily as a counter attacking team.

Any time we've tried to play front foot football, expansive we have collapsed totally.

This team has averaged for the last 3 years has averaged 68 points . Yes 68 points.

Two seasons we have finished with 66 points.
One it was position 6, the other position 3 in the table.

Meaning this is a cancer which has been there from 2017. A major surgery was supposed to happen in 2017, Woodward refused we are here now.

Ole and Ralf, Mourinho and Van Gal all have extracted around 65 -70 points from this team.

Since 2013, we have finished the league with more than 70 points twice.
74 Ole
81 Jose.
Above 75 points it's only once, under Mourinho.

The rest have been 66, 66, 69, 64, 70 (Van Gal).

No coach has improved our team, playing design, competitiveness etc.

In that time period, City have broken 100 points a season, Liverpool will hit another 90 points season

We can apportion blame as much as we like but facts say since 2013 we have only 2 times got more points than 70 points, if we say 75 points only once.

We need to shift from what has happened from 2013 to now, it has never worked will never work.

I've heard Andy say that a few times I don't really understand it. The Rangnick to Austria rumours started months ago, he's clearly had a new job lined up for awhile. Why would he need to protect his rep when he already had something coming? Also, in the last couple of weeks Rangnick has been more open about the fact that he has to be self-critical and accept he hasn't got everything right. Seems a bit of a strange charge to make about Ralf. In my opinion, Andy, Rio Ferdinand and others who've been pushing this line of Ralf distancing himself from the club, have only been banging this drum hard since Ralf fell out with Fletcher. Which I think reflects personal relationships as much as reality.

@stevoc is right to say its nonsense top four was gone ages ago. As much as I like Ralf, top four was a possibility going into the Everton game. Which is why its been worrying hearing the likes of Pogba and Bruno say they have nothing to play for. Conceivably Ralf could have got us into the Champions League. He hasn't been able to and we shouldn't dress that up. However, by the same token, we shouldn't act like its all because Ralf is a terrible coach. There are a lot of issues at this club. We all heard McTominay recap them after the Arsenal defeat. Those issues made salvaging this season a tough ask off the bat. Lets not forget, before Ralf, we suffered a once in a century humiliation against our arch rivals (and it happened at Old Trafford!) As a coach Ralf has failed but there are mitigating factors as to why he's failed. Its ostrich like to pretend that its all on him, as some seem inclined to do.

If the likes of Keane and Neville can see that maybe, just maybe, after doing for numerous coaches our players might be the key problem. I'd suggest its worth taking note of that.

Let's be honest here Ralf giving the players so many days off to the point where the players were rumoured to be upset about it and thought they weren't doing enough training reflects poorly of Rangnick.

Am I?

I’m saying that “we may as well have kept Ole because of how terrible a job Ralf has done”, does not mean that “we shouldn’t have sacked Ole”. It’s not hard to understand. For most people anyway, for you it obviously is.

Rangnick has obviously been a terrible manager and had no impact on improving the team. But I have no issue with admitting I don't care about that. We have been in such a mess for such a long time that I feel it's time to be less narrow minded and look beyond simply changing the manager and signing 2-3 players in the hope things drastically change.

My gut feeling is that Rangnick gas thrown in the towel and he's had enough of many of the players; he can't be arsed with them and he can't wait for the final game to be over so he never has to see them again. I'm fine with that because I have the same contempt towards most of our players. The hope that I cling on to is that he does know what it takes to implement a successful structure at a football club and he has demonstrated he has knowledge and can be impartial when talking about changes that need to happen in order for us to improve. That's what we need; and if the CEO listens to him and takes onboard even some of his advice which in turn helps us improve the way this club is run, then in my book Rangnick's time here has been worthwhile.
That sounds pretty unprofessional it that were true which is why I doubt it in all honesty, in fact I doubt most of the squad have gave up either. But things just wren't working out for whatever reason, most of these players will look better under a different manager. Or at least we have to hope they will as 70-80% of them will still be here under Tan Hag.

His consultancy role is bearing fruits finally. That's some open heart surgery he did on the backroom staff. I am sure the playing staff will be next. Hopefully Murtough, Arnold and co.will keep him on, continue heeding his input and carrying out his advices towards the big rebuild.
Huh? Murtough is the one doing everything, literally.

Next up if the Glazers decided to sell the club, people will say Ralf convinced them to do that, and even found a new buyer himself.

Nobody's letting them off the hook. But you can't be saying that and saying Solskjaer had to go in the same sentence. He was held accountable for the results and rightly so, so why aren't you holding Rangnick to the same standard? We had about 4 or 5 real chances to cement that top 4 slot under Rangnick.

I'm so glad this fraud is being exposed.

ZERO man management.

He might be an average/above average footballing director, but he is absolutely woeful as a manager which makes sense since the last time he held a long term role was more than 10 years ago.

Easily the worst manager we have appointed at this club. Even Moyes was better.

People say this like he should have been expected to be a really good manager.

He was an emergency interim appointment. Inherent in that is the fact that he absolutely isn't good enough to be Manchester United manager. Comparing him to previous managers who were deemed good enough to be hired on a permanent basis is bizzare. If we thought he was that good, we would have just made him manager then and there. It's a strange way to frame his time here.

There are many reasons. Ole built this team and was backed over multiple windows and pre seasons to get it right. Rangnick is interim and inherited a fractured bloated squad with a toxic dressing room.

Rangnick has certainly under performed but Ole is the root managerial problem. Theres no value discussing Rangnick now anyway as its time for ETH to reset completely.

Jones was deeply frustrated. Ok, for what ? For being injured most of the days in the past years? No no, he was subbed off against our fiercest rivals as we were 4 -0 down and we had to bring in an attacking player.

Ok, I will get my coffee now.

Exactly. Rangnick **** in action.
Genuinely hilarious. When has a manager’s overall opinion gone up so successfully despite objectively failing in his current job? Currently he reminds me of Jose in his last season. Calling out a bunch of problems which probably have some merit, but either not addressing them effectively or actively contributing to them. Jose at least had two previous years of success though.

I think this is clearly the case.

If we were flying on the pitch, Ralf wouldn't talk above off the pitch matters anywhere near as much as he has so far.

There's also a video of Mitten saying Rangnick isn't that good whilst then saying Fletcher is a top lad with bags of football knowledge and experience as if Rangnick as zero. He has a bit of an agenda even if some of his comments on Rangnick are correct

Perfect, this is all we should be using Ralf for and the point many were trying to make. I think the silver lining of this season is that the disaster it has been seems to have initiated real change to our football recruitment structure. So happy to see Judge has fecked off as well.

You can hold the players responsible without also letting the manager off the hook. Him failing to extract anything from the squad over 6 months is objectively a massive managerial failure regardless of how good/bad the players have been.

Wrote it before, I think the main problem for Rangnick as the interim manager has been that he didn't manage to bring a top, or adequate, coaching team with him. Which is understandable as top coaches won't come for 6 months, and he hadn't been in a management job during the time before his hiring so he didn't have a team of assistants waiting around him or being unemployed at the same time.
Rangnick himself is by no means a horrible manager, he has always done a good job before with his teams (none of whom were at the level of United, of course), but he has, let's say, not a very infectious personality, and generally every top manager needs, or has, a top assistant team. I did expect him to do better, performance and result wise, but probably it's just that this Chris Armas guy alone clearly is not at the level to successfuly perform the training of a squad of frustrated superstars, and why would he be.
But there's worse things that can happen to a club than an underwhelming interim management period. It's not that big of a deal.

Doesn’t really fit with the lazy players narrative very well though does it?
