John Terry is a weird man. Why can’t he just accept different opinion.

If this is him being able to take criticism from Rio, I dread to think what he’d say to Robbie Savage

If I were John Terry I'd be delighted to make anyone's top 5. I suspect he wouldn't even make a lot of people's top 10 PL defenders.

He was a great player but he lets himself down by being so petty and insecure. He was an excellent defender but he didn’t have the athleticism or was as good a footballer as vDV or Rio. So I think that is a perfectly acceptable option to have.

He doesn’t seem to understand that the team you played in influences your stats. Kompany isn’t on the same level as Van Dijk or Rio, but the precious stats say otherwise.

Know you guys hate JT here but this is laughable. He’s comfortably in the top 5 CB‘s in the PL era. And certainly better than Rio.

He'd be 5th or 6th for me. Definitely not better than Rio.
Rio may have been better on the ball but as a pure defender JT was superior. And had more longevity as a top player.

JT was only good because he had Carvalho next to him. The most over rated English defender of the last 20 years. Couldn't lace Vidic's boots

In the current era, captain lion heart would be at a midtable team in Italy, and Rio would be in Liverpool or city's starting 11, not even in question.

Well, Terry didn't even make it to VVD's top 3 list. And also not sure what is this longevity, Rio started his 10+ PL appearances per season since 1996/1997 to 2014/2015 while Terry 10+ PL appearances was 2000/2001 to 2015/2016.

JT was a phenomenal defender - definitely top 5 in the PL.

Rio was better though. He was a complete defender. No flaws in his game.

Rio was quite easily a better defender he had more to his game but Terry was no doubt a world class player. Terry was excellent at the defensive side of the game, his best attribute had to be positioning. I think he's disliked for various reasons but can't deny his influence on field.

some of you united fans need to wobble yours heads. i think maybe because he was part of a team that began to end our stranglehold on the pl he is hated and as a result, under rated but it’s clear he’s in the top 5 of his profession for all time. i can only think of a couple of people definitely ahead of him, hitler and nick griffin. you can’t be mad at anyone who puts him lower than 3rd. at least he’s just motivated purely by race hate, unlike the likes of farage, who do it for cash.

Bit weird to go out of your way to find those images just because someone else said you’re not the best CB.

Rio has been doing a best CL players of all time series on the same channel and no one has had him in their teams so far. Maldini and Ramos mostly being picked and Rio doesn’t cry about it.

Terry was a world class defender and I don’t see why being 3rd and 5th is such an insult to him. I didn’t think Rio would pick him at all given the racism incident in the past but he actually said some very complimentary things about Terry and his ability.

In fairness, this was a man who coined "Ole's at the wheel". John Terry should remember that and make allowances.

As fantastic as Rio was a defender, his opinion is a wee bit.... bad....

Rio is perfectly entitled to an informed opinion. Had Terry done that shit with my brother he’d have not got a mention. Rio being the bigger man and Terry reverting to form of being a shite human.
Personally thought Carvalho was the star of Chelsea back line, but just my opinion.

Terry continually manages to prove he's a world class tosser. Most dislikeable man in football

How insecure do you have to be to look for images to respond to someone's opinion?

Personally thought Carvalho was the star of Chelsea back line, but just my opinion.
Carvalho played 25 and 24 games respectively in the two back to back title winning seasons and when we went on our longest clean sheet runs in was the Terry/Gallas partnership mostly (which I think conceded once in 21 games at one point or something obscene like that). Strangely enough it was when Terry had injury issues in 06/07 our defense which still included Carvalho started falling apart.

And that's before I mention Terry still won titles once Carvalho declined/left and he was partnered with Alex and Gary Cahill.

Carvalho was a great defender but the idea he was making Terry look good doesn't stand up to the slightest bit of scrutiny.

I’d have Terry and Rio as my top 2 but there’s not much between them. Either way this is a terrible look for Terry. As Rio said after the racist abuse against his brother he could have easily not mentioned him / VVD is also entitled to his own opinion. embarrassing behaviour to get so riled up.
