Why cant our useless scouts find someone?
Linked to players from Ajax and a player Barca are keen to sell because they need the money.. I could draw up that fecking list sitting at home.
Honestly, I do not believe our scouts are the main problem.

Their job is to only recommended potential players to the Head of Recruitment / Sporting Director / Director of Football.

It’s then up to those guys to make the final decision.

Mane is better, possibly cheaper, and most importantly can backup Benzema

Wouldn't say no to Gnabry though
But how much better would it be for everyone if Real waited one year to sign him for free.

The funny thing is that Bild also released an article today about the three beneficiaries of Rose's demise, namely:

Julian Brandt, because of his upward trend since the winter break and because Terzic is supposedly a fan of his. It's also strange that Rose was supposedly a fan of his, since he himself benched him quite a bit in recent months.

Youssufa Moukoko, who supposedly wanted to leave the club because of Rose, but changed his mind since Terzic gave him a lot of play time when he was first coaching Dortmund and his assistant was Moukoko's coach during his academy years.

Marco Reus, I don't really know why he was supposedly in trouble, but they claim he's going to be central to Terzic's team.

Here's a German secondary report, since the original is paywalled.

At this price, this will be a done deal very, very soon.

Ivan Perišić has a foot and a half in London: Tottenham hopes to close it soon.
I didn't think Spurs were that far ahead in the Perisic race, but I guess Inter wouldn't be able to match whatever Tottenham would offer him.

Could the directors above Rose have been more willing to let go of Brandt? I don't doubt that Terzic would like Brandt, but would he be willing to keep the player if the leadership is preferring to let him go for a decent price?

I just can't decide is Nunez is good enough or not. When I watch him play I get Van Nistelrooy vibes about him, in that he is just a natural goalscorer, tremendous in the air, a physical presence; but watching so many of his highlight videos (a fraught experience to judge a player) you see that so many of his goals this season came because of shocking keeping or defending. Which makes me nervous he could badly flop. That said, his performance against Liverpool gave me hope that he has what it takes. He's going to cost an absolute wedge.

All that said, ETH is going to have to get the best out of players he already has, there is no other way, unless the club has a billion to invest in new players (it doesn't). So if he can get Rashford and Sancho on form and playing well in a system, those two flanking Nunez or Ronaldo, could be a fearsome front line. Whether we like it or not, a lot of our season next year is going to depend on ETH getting Rashford back to his best, because without him we just don't have enough options or enough cash to make up the deficit. On the plus side I can't imagine a better coach for Rashford than ETH. One who demands 100%, excellence, full focus on football, work rate, and one who is committed to attacking football with a lot of instructions and structure. I think the worst thing to happen to Rashford was to play in a system under Ole, and previously Mourinho, where individual excellence and moments of magic were relied upon for attacking output. He became a highlights reel player, and then just a shell of what he was. Having watched Marcus since his youth days, there is a real player in there, we've seen it. a player who would run his socks off for the team, had electric pace, and a fearlessness. He just hasn't developed at all these last few years. Compare that with Rooney who arrived with the same sort of fearlessness and virtuoso flair, and how Fergie molded him into the quintessential team player, carrying out specific instructions and often sacrificing himself for the team. Rashford would have been superb under Fergie. I hope ETH can do something similar. I just don't know if it's already too late. Those years 20-24 are so key to players forming a footballing identity, and now in the modern game you also have to struggle with their profile. Marcus has achieved huge fame, and has a sort of "I'm the next Ronaldo" vibe about the way he plays the game, without having the performances to back it up. Whether that mentality can be turned around is anyone's guess. None of us know what's happening behind the scenes.

I think what I am saying, in a very long winded way, is that Nunez can probably be a big success in a well functioning team, but won't make much difference in a team where the other parts aren't functioning correctly. ETH must believe he can get a song out of the supporting cast, to be pursuing a player like Darwin.

I don't think either coach was a huge fan of Brandt.

Rose ended up benching him four straight games for Marius Wolf and Hazard as late into the season as last March, he only returned him to the starting lineup after Reyna and Hazard got injured. Brandt stands for everything Rose bemoaned about his players and all the while the media kept putting Brandt on the summer hit list.

And under Terzic's first tenure Brandt was a complete train wreck, who played 20 minutes in 4 CL knockout matches and a singular minute between their cup games against Gladbach and Leipzig.

Feck. The Europa League will probably be our best bet for qualifying for the CL in 23/24.
I mean who knows. Conte is a great coach but he has issues too, I can see him falling out with someone just as easily as challenging for the league. So I wouldn’t worry too much right now. Plus…its Spurs.

Dominik Szoboszlai, the Hungarian player for Leipzig, will arrive in San Sebastian this weekend to become a new player for Real Sociedad

Right, both didn't see him as a key first-XI player, but both did seem to value his strengths, which made him a useful option off the bench, especially when Dortmund needed some added creativity. Ultimately, though, you're right in that both didn't favour him to that extent, which should make it easier for the club to sell him for a decent fee (if not a big one).

This came out of nowhere. I thought that Szoboszlai would play a bigger part in the Leipzig team for next season, especially as an attacking box-to-box midfielder. He'd probably git better into Sociedad's 4-3-3 or 4-4-2, but I wouldn't have thought that he'd ever be linked this strongly to another team.

That's a bit like saying Rangnick valued someone like Matic. Coaches can only use the players in front of them, but that doesn't necessarily mean they wouldn't like to sell them and use the money for someone else. Brandt is talented enough that I'm sure a lot of coaches could make use of him as a sub, but for the fee he could fetch and the wages that would free up they could also buy a potential starter.

It's definitely a big surprise. He didn't start a lot, but he often made an impact as a sub. And in general you'd expect someone who is quite talented and who has been groomed in their farm team to have a good perspective with the club.

For sure, I think both would've been okay with selling Brandt given his performances (which makes me wonder where Sven's getting that info about Rose wanting to keep Brandt from). Maybe Rose had a plan for him? I can't say for sure.

It's so big a surprise that the player's agent started to quell the rumours.

He got them CL. And he's a top manager. I expect Spurs to be very good next season - especially if he's given significant funds.
Yeah, Spurs should be very formidable next season. If they can upgrade at both wingback positions and get a top class DM they’ll be a serious threat.

Saw something linking Newcastle and Renan Lodi? If he's not too pricy, I'd hope United would be all over that? Excellent wing back and just turned 24 (and tore us apart this year).

A lot of players tore us apart this year.
