So despite a bunch of people losing their shit at one daft cnut’s tweet last night, in which he implied that suddenly, after weeks of being treated like shit and being told he’s a CB, he was gonna agree to a renegotiation that he could’ve done 2 months ago, when he was you know, being treated nicely…. It actually turns out that FdJ’s position hasn’t changed one bit. It’s either pay him as due, or pay him out and he joins his old boss.

What a fecking surprise.

Is the Sancho transfer thread the record for number of pages?

Won’t be surprised if this surpasses it as reckon this is going to go right down to the wire with even more twists and turns

Can someone who is an expert in Spanish contractual law explain to me how this works? This is very different from how contracts work where I am from.
Contracts are just a set of agreements between the employee and the employer on their terms of service. Anything can be agreed as long as both parties are willing. The law only comes into action if FDJ wants to charge Barca for going against his contract.

If FDJ agrees, he can take a pay cut which will be reflected via his new contract but if he does not, he can choose to stay with the club legally bound to pay his future and owed wages as per his existing contract. The way i see it, it seems that FDJ's agent is trying to see how they can get the best out of the salary situation and also the future chances. If all goes out of the window, he will certainly come here. Currently, it looks like he is coming here.

Directly under the sun... NOW!
Yeah same here but our the club didn't really show many signs in the past to be overly confident.

What I don't understand is, in case we have plan Bs, why aren't we more vocal about it. Not officially of course, but by some sort of briefings or fake leaks. There isn't anything at all to lose for us, other than maybe raising the pressure on FDJ and Barca. And even that could be avoided by a briefing, that other midfielders wouldn't be looked for instead of FDJ but on top of it...We'd look better for our own fanbase and we'd look more serious in terms of not putting all our money on one card.
Join the club. I don't understand it either. I'm confident though that if FdJ isn't signed then we would sign one of the others on a very long list of targets. This list has not been made public for whatever reason. A massive company such as this is not run on whims. I know it doesn't look like it. Maybe I'm naive...

It's alright, I'm from the country.

50% salary cut

You need more than love for a club to surely play at that will.

Or he could you know...just sit on his 4 year contract and there's nothing Barce can do? He could literally just carry on as normal and nothing will change contract wise.

Id request a transfer just for being asked though tbh. The club is spending over 100m on new players and they're asking players to take a wage cut..what a joke.

But never play for Barca, like ever.

This. Barca have no bargaining power in terms of his salary - except to make his footballing life absolutely miserable and maybe damage his relationship with the fans. But if he can bear it, they will have to pay him.

Maybe he can work in a buy-out clause or something since they are renegotiating his contract. Ah but I am not interested in helping the situation.

Let Barca burn for being such sleazebags. Promise the earth to attract a player and then just pretend it didn't happen.

They aren't going to keep a player on 300k a week in the reserves that suits nobody especially someone who improves their first team.
How do they get their other players to take pay cuts if they don't punish him even if it hurts them too?

Players always have this power, but there’s a reason we only have a couple of examples in recent history of it happening.
Players and club always come to an agreement, they want to play where they are wanted and they want to make the best of their careers.

To add to that, Barca have previous when it comes to situations like this and no other club can come close to matching their dark arts when it comes to making a player uncomfortable and whipping up the fans against them.

I don’t know anymore. If he were staying, you’d think he’d have told us and the world he’s taking a pay cut.

He’d have done that two months ago.

The saga doesn’t go this far if he was ever prepared to take a 50% salary reduction.

He doesn’t need to say anything, he aint taking it. It’ll be pay up and stay, or pay up to date and I leave.
