If only he's a shithouse with the only skill of winning tackles and every ball duels, he might still have a use.

I do struggle to think of someone worse who has actually started games for us for so long to be honest. It's horrendous that a player of his quality continues to play every week.

It's worrying he's starting games. It's worrying he's not even the first midfielder pulled after this woeful first half. It's worrying he lasted 70 minutes. He just gets worse and worse and more secure in the starting line up day by day...

He's like blind spot for all managers so far.

He can play as bad as it's humanly possible and still he'll get selected next match.

He’s absolute garbage. I have no idea how he can get a game for us, it’s actually like trying to comprehend consciousness or the infinite nature of space.

Well, the other choices are the kids.
Don't get me wrong, think he's absolute turd, but we don't better options at the moment.

It sums up the state we're in;

A) he's still starting games regularly
B) made 171 appearances

Seriously, what do managers see in him?!

That bit where he managed to turn a dangerous opportunity in acres of space just outside their box into a potential red card challenge was quite impressive tbf
 I couldn't believe it

Sums him up perfectly... Head up and simple pass to either Eriksen or Dalot (both free, in space).

Instead, ball stuck under his feet - take another 2 touches, with the latter being a heavy touch, resulting in the challenge.

It’s nuts that I read that and go “well I’d rather play both of them!”

At least Zidane and Savage have a much higher ceiling.

Those are better options though. Much rather Garner/Iqbal got a chance... Could also just play Eriksen there or give Donny a run.

I really dislike this cretin and long for the day I don't have to see him in a United shirt again.

We could use him as another CB option. Is case we ever play with three at the back. Apart from that get him out of the squad.

He's a horrific footballer. Its funny because he wasn't that bad in pre season and cut out the pointless running with the ball only to lose it. Yet he plays at OT, and just gets bullied and abandons the normal structure. He just has no talent, no vision, and can't be starting matches here. Squad player sure whatever. Never a starter.

martinez, maguire, varane, lindelof, tianzebe, bailly and jones. We have all these cbs, no need to go out of our way to find him a place. He’s not good enough

Sure. Or we could just sell him and reinvest the money in a better player, like other clubs would do...

Yeah but we don't do these kind of things. Also he's an academy lad. We hand big contracts out to them irrespective of their performance and usually keep them way too long

He runs around like a headless chicken, shows great fighting spirit and is good in the tackle. But Christ, when he has the ball at his feet he doesn’t have a scoobie dooo - unfortunately not cut out for this level.

One of the worst ever performances I’ve ever seen from a United player - and actually I like the guy as a squad player.

Looked totally lost today, as if a fan had been asked to put on a kit and play in midfield.

True. It'd be madness to copy what other clubs do. We're United, we're different. We'll continue to fail in our own special United way

It’s mental the run he’s been given in the first team considering how poor he is. No way near the standard required, we’re hamstrung by him.

He's gonna be a loyal, one club man isn't he?

Absolutely useless. Is there a worse midfielder in the league who will play more games than him this season?

He's not 'good' in the tackle. He's just playing hard and is reckless af.

Think him being busy probably is what keeps him in the mind of managers
We are shit in the middle and so being busy without doing anything seems to work in his favour

should of been sold a couple of years ago, think it was clear then that he was never going to be the midfielder we needed to compete. His positioning is poor, passing poor and his work rate is poor. He is everything that i thought ETH would of hated in a player but for some reason he gets in the team. Garner didn't exactly have the best preseason but at least he can do the basics, i would take any of our youth players over him at this current moment in time to be honest.

I've shat on him for years watching him on TV.

Today was my first time at Old Trafford and seeing United live. He is worse than I imagined. I've seen more composure at kick abouts on the AstroTurf. A fraud at this level of football.

Welbeck, Cleverley, Mcshane????
They all got fair share of chances (well, McNair maybe didn't but he was total dross) before we sold them. We refuse to sell academy player before he gets few seasons in first team (unless he is total dross).
Liverpool, Chelsea, City, Real sell players like Henderson, Mctalentless, Williams, Welbeck, Tuanzebe after few games for first team (when their price is highest). No emotions there.
