No, Rabiot's mother is not doing woman any good by fulfilling a lot stereotypes people have about woman operating in this world. Yelling at the manager because he doesn't play her son, tearing a strip off one of the best players in the world because he's not playing up to your son's standards. Sorry, call me sexist, but that's not professional behavior that helps the female cause in the world of football.
Nice sexist stereotyping here lad*, someone's personality can be the issue - mentioning the gender here is absolute nonsense.

You're correct, statiscally McTominay is far superior.
If you only consider the worst season of one of them and one that doesn't match with every other season. Which is a pretty big issue when you try to use stats, it works both ways when you look at good and bad stats that are far from the norm you have to wonder how repeatable and how predictive your sample is.

If this guy ends up earning more than Fred, Shaw and Eriksen I'll be very disappointed. Reportedly they all earn less than £175k per week.

Italian football expert on sky literally said she doesn’t know what Rabiot excels at.

Sounds about right.

You need to stop reading that Juve forum. Its like a playground for uneducated glory hunters.

They hated people like Kulusevski and Bentacur. Both would walk into our team
That's not true. Go on the Juve reddit and look at when it was announced Kulu was leaving. A significant portion recognised how talented he was and said he'd have a great career elsewhere. No one is saying that about Rabiot.

Statistics don't always tell the full story. Show me a game Rabiot had that was even close to the car crash on Sunday and I'll believe it.
He has had comparable games but they are still not the same players and last season possession stats are not really in line with previous years. Even the progressive passes stats have been highly dependent on his roles over the years.

Reading that Juventus post on reddit was depressing.

So is he more of a #6 or a #8? I really hope its a #6, because our only other options there are Fred and Garner.

He's statisically one of the worst midfielders in Europe, I don't put a ton of stock into stats, but sometimes they're just too overwhelming to ignore.

If they're too overwhelming to ignore, then you'd do well to explain how prior to last season (82%), Rabiot's passing stats were 90%, 89%, 91% and 92% in four different seasons.

Four good statistical passing years over one poor year is the very definition of overwhelming. Too overwhelming..........to ignore.

Right now we’re desperate. So much so I’m starting to believe a card board cut out would be better than the woeful McTominay.

I remember some years ago a few on here / twitter wanted United to sign him quite a lot

What happened?

And what is his role in the midfield meant to be?

He was a young kid with potential.. he looked great when he was coming through at PSG..
he went nowhere as a player and comes with a lot of baggage. and wont come cheap either (in terms of wages).. exactly the kind of crap we have been signing for the past 10 years and the kind we should stay the feck away from.

Signing a player who's value has plummeted in the last 4 years. I'm sure this will work out well.

People would rather give Garner a go...

Sometimes I think we deserve all of this shit.

Desperate for another underwhelming player on massive wages?

His stats are similar/worse to McTominay ffs

I really hope his mum demands something absurd and this falls through...this would be a seriously underwhelming signing.

If Garner cost us 20m out of our already smallish transfer budget and was on similar wages, you might have a point..

We dont have money.. we can really do without wasting significant chunks on more squad fillers and dead weight..
We'll be trying to move him on in 18 months and be stuck with him for 3 season after that.

edit: if this was a loan, I'd be all for it.. but he is in the final year of his contract at Juve and they wont loan him..

No, explain it, because your attempt to look clever has fallen short. Unless you are implying I'm a Karen, which makes no sense, because I am a man, and because I am not running to some manager and making demands and causing a scene, I am discussing my football team on a message board dedicated to discussing my football team.
I've a suspicion you're in fact a child.

On the other hand you want to spunk 20m on a underwhelming midfielder on huge wages? Always works for us that.

The Juve fans want him gone, the club was considering paying up his contract to release him. But yeah sign him up!

Heard nothing good about him from those who watched him at Juve but if he's one of a couple of midfield signings and as low as our signings get this summer (now that Arnautovic is off the table) then that's not too bad.

Re the stats thing, people are comparing his worst season to McTominay but his previous seasons are better, in some cases a lot better.

So rather than arguing that he's not as good as McTominay, the more pertinent question is probably why his stats dipped so much last season and were generally worse at Juve than at PSG, whether (for example) the reports of him being lazy and uninterested (which I have now seen several people who watched him at Juve cite) are a cause of that drop off and how much that would apply to us?

If United is to convince a player like Rabiot to come to United, then it for sure is a dark time we live in.

he is best played as a 6, but won’t want to play there. With the demands already starting, no way I see him taking a rolehe doesn’t like anyway
