Fanboy alert!

Don't remember Jordan demanding everything to be centered around him 2nd time he came out of retiretment while playing for Washington. Also don't see Messi making gestures and facial expression everytime someone else is passed the ball instead of him.

That's not saying those players don't think high about themselves, but Cristiano is on another egoistic planet when it comes to self love and overestimating his own ability.
Yes and when you start losing your ability you start looking like a clown. But for the most of his career this attitude helped him and his team.

It reminds me of super attractive actors and actresses who refuse to age gracefully and get surgeries done. At this stage, he really could have formed a legacy being that veteran striker who passes the baton. Messed it up this summer.

Ronaldo hasn’t come out of retirement. Jordan at washington was done, Ronaldo was top scorer last year.

I absolutely am a Ronaldo fan. My fondest memories of United are at a time when he was our best player. Fan boy though? Nope. If its best for the team that he be dropped then i’m 100000% behind it. And I agree his ego is higher than most but thats usually been a good thing for him, not the opposite. My problem is with everyone making it seem like he’s some sort of cancer in the dressing room. Yeah ferking right, he’s never been that but people are just saying nonsense now just because they hate the man.

Hey I'm Ronaldo out just don't like the exaggerated stories. ETH is no mug and he just proved that so I don't think he would tolerate him messing up the dressing room. He is for sale as he should be and was on the bench rightfully so.
I hear you. As long as he’s not a detriment to the dressing room or team morale. I’d guess he’s going to end up leaving before the window shuts purely because he doesn’t want to accept not being first choice, let alone playing in the UCL.

Yeah, if he was in his early 30s then it would be different situation altogether, but nowdays he's a shadow of his former self which doesn't warrant whole team playing for him.

He has so much to pass to younger players, but doesn't seem to care about that a bit, shame really.

He was top scorer alright, but his overall game isn't remotely close to what he once was. He can still play on highest level (as did Jordan), but only if whole team plays for him while he stands and waits for the ball to be delivered to him.

I don't think he's obvious disruption to the team, but don't tell me other players can't see him making everything about himself.

Oh and in his own words people hate him because he's good looking, rich and successful.

I don't think anyone really hates him, supporters are just anoyed with his antics and constant need to be in spotlight.

Ronaldo is a player that is used to winning, had won everything. He plays with passion for the game.

United is not a club that is compatible with his ambitions, is not a club that is used to winning.

The player with most goals last season for United, and United supporters want Ronaldo to leave, saying the problem is him, just because the guy likes to win everything!!!
I do not doubt that Ronaldo's mentality and that he was one of our two standout performers last season on the pitch. He got the goals and got us past the UCL group stages, but we needed more than that last year. I do not believe that Ronaldo is as toxic as some tabloids/rumors make him out to be, but he did jet off to Portugal when he was out "injured" for the Man City game. You can't tell me that such a move would help with the already toxic dressing room atmosphere.

If he wanted to play in the UCL so much, he should've helped rally the team to a top 4 finish.

Oh, but isn't that the captain's job? If he didn't like the lack of leadership being displayed, he should've stepped up, displayed some leadership, and get us to that top 4 finish. It was ours to lose at one point.

Sure, we can blame Ralf, Maguire, Bruno, Rashford, etc., but Ronaldo was a senior player in the dressing room (often regarded as a club legend last season), he held a level of influence over some of the players, and he could've stepped up off the pitch, because squad unity was badly needed to overcome the disaster we witnessed last season.

As for him staying/leaving, it's Erik ten Hag's call. I believe that ten Hag has the tactical ability to incorporate Ronaldo in the team and utilize him properly, and if he wants Ronaldo to stay, then I'm all for it. But if he wants to build his team differently, then I'll support ten Hag's decision too. I want the decision to be made in the best interest of Manchester United.

And, no, I am not a hater. I love watching Ronaldo play, and I bring him back to Man Utd in every FM game I've played. In fact, I'd love to see what ten Hag can do with him and how many goals he can score in a functional team with a tactically sound manager. And, I really want to see the ad that Adidas shot with him, Beckham, and King Eric. But, like I said, the club has to come first and foremost.

Thank you, don't worry with me my friend.

I just gave my opinion about Ronaldo, and indeed I hope he really leave United, because you don't deserve a player like him, a player that gave you so much in the past, a player who was top man united scorer last season, better than the young ones. And still blaming Ronaldo for being a club that don't play to win games..

How can a guy who Won everything, breaks all the records could be happy in a club that doesn't win?? People don't see that?
As much as I agree with you in nearly everything, some people just see a different picture, and we have to respect that to the maximum. I also think last season he represented everything that someone should demand from a United player, and put so many performances to help the team win games, and I also think I'd rather fight to keep a guy like him here even at this age, rather than keep players who have given up or simply don't care (I do think he cares).

We need to try to be rational though and respect the portion of the fan base that sometimes doesn't agree with our opinion, no matter how harshly we feel about it. Things in football aren't black or white regularly, and you can't just say United don't deserve Ronaldo, because as much as he's given United, you need to remember it was this same club that gave him the basic platform that allowed him to forge his incredible career. I'm not sure Ronaldo would be the player he is today if he had ended up in another club at age 18.

Ronaldo has embarrassed himself. If he wanted to leave, he could have atleast waited for some team to bid for him.

Adding insult to injury is Martial being the preferred forward over him. We should play Martial in the PL and force Ronaldo to play Europa League. Not sure how his ego would handle that.

If Ronaldo reduced his wage by half, would Bayern want to take a risk?
They will win Bundesliga comfortably with or without him anyway, I don't see why not.
Because you don't sign a player of that caliber to be a sub. Creates all kinds of problems you don't want. They don't need him, so there's no point putting themselves through it

I love Ronaldo, will never forget the joy he brought me in the early years of his career. However, can’t let sentiment distract from the obvious. Without him in preseason we looked like we did against Liverpool the other night. Football moves on and unfortunately it is time for Ronaldo to do the same for the good of the team.

Keeping Ronaldo will just be keeping the handbrake on for the evolution and development of this side.

I personally would look at the possibility of a mutual termination. Yes we would lose some revenue, but it would put this distraction to bed and allow us to move on without the media circus.

I always wanted him gone - but now he is clearly below the manager who is the bigger boss - so I don’t care if he has to stay and play as the substitute version of the player he is.

I don’t think it’s ideal for him to sit on the bench and start stinking up the place with his oversized (and arguably justified) ego. We can have no place for anyone who isn’t prepared to run through walls for the club. Players not onboard with the philosophy can have such a bad effect as we have seen. Honestly I’d mutually release him.

edit - to add that when he came on with 5 mins left and wasn’t chasing down every ball, pressing and cutting the passing lanes (despite having seen the team work really hard) he just walked about. Unacceptable and he needs to go

If he'd drop his salary demands to 100k a week or something much more reasonable he'd surely have more suitors. We should have given him the boot before it became clear he's not first choice, though. Weakens our hand in negotiations.

But there’s nobody to negotiate with, because everyone he’d sign for knows he isn’t good enough.

Wouldn't Atlético go for it for those sort of figures? I was thinking them or an Italian club. Gutting that we're likely going to be lumbered with him this season, though. I can't imagine it's going to end well as he increasingly only features from the bench.

8 days left.

Can Senhor Ronaldo find a club to sign for.

Rumours have died down heavily.
Rumours died down ever since he said he was gonna expose some people about false reports in 2 weeks about a week ago.

That tells me most of the links weren’t true to begin with. The only concrete ones we knew of were Bayern and Chelsea. Others were just unsubstantiated speculation to get clicks and bring his name down.

I think he’ll leave but to someone no one will expect.

"To bring his name down" - does it matter that he's tried to engineer a move away to 2 clubs, or 6 (as an example)? Unless you're referring specifically to the Atletico links (which would be relevant to Madrid fans) or his reputation in terms of being "rejected", I don't see how it changes much from a United supporters perspective.

Of course the media sensationalised a bit as well. They're known for that.

Of course the links were not true. To think he'd be linked publicly with every big club in Europe you need to be a special class of an idiot, like most of today's football fans.

Any half brained journalist will create fake stories about him because they get the clicks. Everything is about clicks and ad revenue these days.

There's definitely issues with Ronaldo within the squad and for that reason I hope he goes. Hopefully it means we bring someone like Gakpo in as well. At this stage I can't see where he is going to go though, any realistic suiters have seemingly distanced themselves. Cowdenbeath have so far refused to comment...

“Bring his name down” by suggesting he got rejected by this long list of clubs.
Some journalists either have it out against Ronaldo or genuinely use his name for interactions. I saw one bottom tier Italian reporter who barely gets any traffic on his tweets write down about 15 clubs he got rejected by in a tweet which subsequently went viral.

Bloody hell! Yeah i can see how the narrative would impact him from a personal/reputation POV but from a United supporters' POV, it doesn't really mean much because it's clear he wants out.

Hard to see where Ronnie can go.

No club looks a good fit for him, and time is running out. Looks like the great man will have to hear the Europa music after all.

We know that Mendes has offered him to Bayern and Chelsea (this has been confirmed by those clubs).

Given this, it's hardly unlikely that other clubs were approached too (but declined, like the two mentioned).

In fact, it would be pretty odd if Mendes only approached those two clubs. Ronaldo wants out (he wants CL football, a genuine shot at titles, etc.), that's what most think.

Are we supposed to believe that he doesn't really want out, he just fancied playing for Chelsea and Bayern in particular, but once they said no (which was weeks ago, by the way), he was perfectly fine staying at United and focusing on the upcoming season (er - that is, he meant to do that, but then this personal issue came up, very inconvenient but what can you do).

Ronaldo is never going to mutually terminate. Would you earning £420k a week? The issue is he wants to leave but being paid similar wages. He obviously isn’t that desperate to leave then!

A ridiculous statement, he doesn't suit how some teams play football at all, but there is zero proof that he's not good enough to compete at the top level for a team that plays to his strengths.

How about…

PSV reach the CL

United sign Gakpo. Then give them Ronnie for free. They can use the Gakpo fee to pay Ronnies wages

Nistelrooy and Ronnie reunite and make up. Ronaldo gets CL football and a chance to win the title in another country. Ronaldo puts PSV on the map. United get Gakpo. Gakpo gets a big move

Wins all around
