We all love United
His highlights video looks like he plays in slow motion. I really think he’ll be too slow for the Prem and thus will struggle

We’re loaded we could spend another £200M and still be under the FFP regulations. There’s money, depends if we’re allowed to spend it.
There is absolutely no way we are spending £350m in 1 transfer window.

Constantly at the STD clinic.
Martial is levels above with his technical ability and agility. All he needs is a bit of decision making.

Rashford even now is more agile and accelerates better, hes incredibly effective in the right game.

Memphis just isn't that good in any area of the game. Everything he does is a split second too slow for this league, you can even see it in that clip.
Martial has only one finish ability and very predictable movements. There's a reason Memphis has achieved more than him in his career.

So we known from first hand experience that he's shit so why are we looking at him as an option again? Martial is twice the player, no need to bring back deadwood.

I’m afraid you are overestimating the goal return from those guys. Some of them might get close to the numbers you suggest if they play 38 games but there’s no way they could all do that. I don’t see them scoring more than 40 goals between them.
I was meaning over the whole season rather than just in the league so I’m including Europa, FA Cup and League Cup too which could be an extra 10+ games so expecting 15 goals each from Fernandes, Rashford, Martial and Depay should he sign would be reasonable.

I see. More chance of that then but even so, they are not prolific players. Fernandes is prolific for a midfielder but he’s off the boil in recent months. Martial is probably not going to be fit half the time, Rashford is hot and cold and Depay is slow. Shit, I hope I’m wrong but it looks more hopeless by the minute!

In the end, we have to score as many as we can with the players we have and I trust ETH to get us playing so as to give them the best chance. I just feel we need one extra player who can come in and replace the Ronaldo goals. Then it doesn’t matter so much if the others are hitting 8, 9, 10.

There’s so little out there in the striker market as there’s a serious dearth in young talented strikers out there and I’d rather we shared the goals around rather than being reliant on one player, we built everything around Ronaldo last season to the detriment of the team and we did the same with a far more talented squad when we had RVN so having goals from a load of different people helps the squad.

Yeah, that would be good. They just gotta score ‘em now.

It is weird, even when at Utd I thought he was far too chunky to play on the wing, not far off Traore size now, but even slower. The type of player who 20 years ago would have been a striker from minute 1.

Because he developed since he left United a long time ago, and because he's not being considered to provide an upgrade to Martial but a back-up?

I have seen quite a few posters comment how Depay isn't better than Rashford or Martial, but then no-one argued that he should come as a starter, right? And of course, a better starting striker would be nice for United, but there's only so much that can be achieved in one transfer window.

For free or 10M it's a no brainer, I'd rather we get him than Osimen. If CR7 goes, he can play as #9 when Martial is not fit, I think he is much better there than Rashford, granted he is slow to play on the wing and Rashford is much better there, but we have enough alternatives for the wings.

He is a good finisher, he is strong (contrary to what some are claiming), he has a very good technique and first touch, and his link up play is very good too. Especially in games when we are facing a low block he could be a great backup to Martial.

I'd take him if it meant FDJ would join because they're good mates. But United still need another striker.

I think Depay can cover on the LW if absolutely necessary too. it certainly gives options.

Depay is 5ft9 and as we’ve all been told this season, 5ft9 does not work in the Premier League and it’s destined for failure :wenger:

Achieved more? Like what? He won the Eredivisie the season before he joined us and thats about it. Martial has won far more, and bigger trophies too.

I think this could be a good buy.

People should forget the Depay we saw first time round. He became a much better player at Lyon and Barca when played through the middle. That stats show that.

I think Ten Hag could get the best out of him.

This could be a late possibility - low fee - all dependant on Mendes shipping out Ronaldo though

Considering how cheap this would be and how many players ahve left we may as well get him in as a stop gap.

Yeah. Once we keep him away from the wings and play him through the middle he could do a job for us.

If we can't get any striker in before the window shuts, I'll have him back on a 2 year max contract.

If him and De Jong are in England together, and Depay comes up for a medical...there’s too much smoke there surely. We’re getting them both aren’t we.

If Ronaldo stays, we already have 6 attackers in the squad, Even though Elanga is a very weak link, I'd be very surprised if we're in for Depay.
Martial
Ronaldo
Sancho
Rashford
Antony
Elanga

Six minus Elanga who is not good enough, Ronaldo who is / may be leaving and Martial who is injured leaves three players for three positions. Absolutely not enough.

Elanga is not that bad. He's only 20, and sometimes shows very very good glimpses of ability. Second half against Soton, he was good. If Ronaldo stays, I think we're okay with the 6 attackers, although I'd like to remove Ronaldo from the team and get another CF.

I wouldn't mind getting Depay back. Think he's matured a lot and looks to be a very good player today and would be a great backup for the striker position.

Personally, I think Garnacho is the most exciting of the young wingers we have (out of Elanga, Amad, Pellistri, Chong) and would give him cameos as a sub when we are 3-0 up, or play him in the europa and see what he is capable of. However, with Greenwood unlikely to ever play again (replaced by Antony) and Cavani gone, I do feel we are one experienced player short up front. Apart from Ronaldo, Martial and Rashford are our two most experienced players, and with both suffering from a dip in form, that puts a lot of pressure on Sancho and Antony. I would bring in Depay anyway, and if Ronaldo goes, I would like Osimhen as well, but accept he's not happening now. It looks like we're done unless Ronaldo goes, in which case Depay comes in.

If Ronaldo goes then Depay on a free makes perfect sense and a group of Depay, Rashford, Martial, Antony, Sancho, Fernandes, Garnacho and Elanga is definitely enough to see us through the season and is very diverse and fluid.

I think we'll get him purely because I'd imagine it's an incredibly easy deal to do.

Maybe Ronaldo would have to go in order for it to happen is the only thing.

Wouldn't mind it, as long as we don't hand him a 5 year contract @ £275k / wk.
