The Haaland deal I get why it’s so cheap. This one not sure. A lot of City’s deals stink of underhand payments.

City and PSG always seem to find ‘value’ each summer. They must be such great business people…
Well we know they have history of paying staff over twice what's stated (Mancini), and it would be incredibly naive to think they've stopped that practice, or that it doesn't extend to players and agents.

We know money doesn't matter for City owner, but whoever offered £600k per week for Grealish and Sterling should be sacked.

Because strikers that develop in Germany are known for their great performances in the PL, right? Alvarez will get plenty of gametime.

Haaland's there just for the vibes. He's going to stick out like a sore thumb and spend a lot of time on the bench. And then he's going to jet off to Spain in two years. Even Soriano knows it.

Yeah, striker breaking so many records in CL and having brilliant record in Bundesliga is not a measure of great performance but player scoring few goals in shit league against bunch of non-professionals means he is going to bench Haaland. Nice one.

In Jan when we or rather rangnick wanted him. The board was having none of it.
Rangnick says he urged the club to land an attacker and pointed out that Dusan Vlahovic, who ended up at Juventus, Luis Diaz - now at Liverpool - and incoming Manchester City forward Julian Alvarez were all available.

He told reporters: "The answer at the time was no, there was no player on the market that could really help us. [But] there were a few: Diaz who is now at Liverpool, Alvarez who will be at Manchester City in the summer, Vlahovic who at the time still was with Fiorentina.

"Those are just three of them that come across my mind now," said Rangnick.

"We had four days off at the time and on the Sunday I was informed about the issues with Mason Greenwood and obviously Anthony Martial had already left and then I was aware that within four days we had some strikers missing and it might make sense.

"We were still in three competitions - Champions League, FA Cup and fourth in the league, but that's in the past and it doesn't help us anymore.

"I spoke to the board and said 'shouldn't we at least speak and try and analyse if we could get a player either on loan or as a permanent deal', but in the end the answer was no.

"I still believe that we should have at least tried. If we would've found and been able in 48 hours, 48 hours is short notice but it's still 48 hours. It might have been worth to try and internally discuss but we didn't and it was not done."
Rangnick said he wanted replacement when he knew about Greenwood news.

Greenwood news was on Jan 30th, by then Diaz already signed for Liverpool, Vlahovic signed on 28th Jan, Alvarez on 31st Jan.

If he wanted them after Greenwood news, he is talking out of his arse, if he wanted attackers before Greenwood news then fair enough.

It’s Rangnick. He was talking out of his arse to save his own face. Again.

He also knew Martial would be gone and specified they had a 48hour window - the board agreed but supposedly the scouting department said no one was available. Read into it how you like but I’d consider it telling that Bout & Lawlor left the club after this. Ragnick criticises a lot of things but so far I’ve not seen him say anything that doesn’t appear to be true, regardless of how poor his managerial spell was.

Better and a more complete player than both Haaland and Nunez. A perfect fit for Baldy's style of play.

Was thinking when people were mentioning City needing to sign another player if they sell Sterling that a few were forgetting about this guy. Genuinely think he has the quality to start competing for a starting spot straight away, could prove to be better than Grealish very quickly I think.

While you are correct about the Haaland, but since when Argentina league is non-professional league.

It's not about Argentina league, it's about the game he scored 5 or 6 goals and that team is of very low quality (apparently)

He's going to be class....but where will he play? Out wide?
I reckon he will take the Jesus role. Didn’t play every game but provided adequate backup to Aguero when they needed him. They will sell Jesus and probably Sterling this year so he will get 20+ games under his belt.

We should have signed him but the board didn't want to sign players on the recommendations of an interim manager, in the meanwhile city swooped in and got the deal done before our permanent manager even set foot in manchester.

Making up shite and lapping up Rangnick lies as usual. City didn't swoop in on that deal and had been heavily linked to Alvarez before Rangnick even joined United.

This kid is brilliant and got a massive ceiling. However I wonder how City are going to manage the situation.

Haaland and Alvarez are in the same age bracket. Alvarez can play wide as well but he is primarily a striker and most dangerous from there. City have other wide players who would offer more than Alvarez out wide.

The question is, does Alvarez eventually get fed up of being a sub? Because Haaland is going to be first choice for a number of years. There’s only so long Alvarez will accept coming in and out of the team. A bit like Jesus.

While I think theres plenty more to come, for those who said he would just be part of City's farming network or not play for City, he came off the bench for Mahrez when City were 2-1 down to Palace with 1 hour gone and had involvements in several of the goals City scored to win 4-2 with Haaland's hatrick. Kept the ball alive in the air for Foden to then cross a 2nd ball in and Haaland to score for 2-2 and then involved in a 1 - 2 inside the box with Bernardo Silva who cleverly played the ball back to Stones who turned it in to Haaland for 3 - 2

On a lesser note scored last week in the cup as well

For 15m, he was a bargain. Will be worth much more in the coming years.

You could see from the videos that his finishing and shooting was quite good.

There was this other midfielder from River that went to Benfica for 10m that could pass the ball around a bit, that could have been a decent addition to the squad, then we wouldn't have the need to scramble around now for the last days looking for a CM. There are bargains to be had in South America, that we do not really look into much (Pellistri was recommended by Forlan to Ole). I wish we would scout more seriously and also get players in before they cost over 60m.

21 year old wonderkid playing as a striker for River Plate.

With 18 goals and 7 assists in 25 games he's currently the top scorer and 2nd place in assists in the Argentinian league.

He's 1.73m/5'7 and according his type of play is really similar to Lautauro Martinez from Inter.

With a 20M release clause he's been linked with Madrid, Barcelona and Inter.

One to keep an eye for sure.

Obligatory compilation with shitty music:

I called it FFS.

2 goals against Forest tonight. Whoscored had him edge out Haaland for man of the match despite his hatrick. More to come

Edit - So far an upgrade on Sterling.

Rashford would score a brace every game for City. They are always dominating the games and creating 30 chances

Nothing will substantially change while the clown family of Tampa are in charge. The difference in the people owning and running (executive level) is absolutely enormous.

Agüero's successor. He's going to become their most important player once KDB retires. Now that he's finally getting playtime, people will realize that he's a better goal scorer and a much better all around striker than Haaland.
