Quite a few of your recent posts in this thread lack objectivity. United have a possession based manager with players who throughout their careers have been poor in possession. The transition for United to become scolded into the managers vision is going to take time not 6 league games. Cast your mind back to when Arteta first was under management of Arsenal did his team look anything like it does three seasons later ? The answer is no.What are you talking about? Saliba and Odegaard missed sitters. We had a goal chalked off. DDG had a great save to deny a Martinelli header.
The irony us you beat us and Liverpool more convincingly that you did Southampton and Leicester City. The problem here is most teams you play will sit back and look to play on the counter. What happens when United need to get on the ball and get players forward? Crystal Palace away will be a tough game. They sit deep and attack on the counter. Eventually ETH will need to evolve beyond a low block counter attacking game. We say what happened at Brentford when you tried to play out the back and play a more adventurous game. You will have to face these demons again. Your defenders will eventually have to play a higher line. Because getting into arm wrestles looking for 1-0 wins is not viable over the long run.
It takes time to cultivate and develop a squad. Arsenal to some extent are like a blunt edged knife the forwards who are not clinical is going to reflect in your record against the top 6 this season. I think Arteta has done lots of things well, although Solskjaer has the better league record I backed Mikel to progress more effectively. The problem is the fans always get carried away, even in his first season Arsenal went on decent runs of form. The game against United is a reality check that possession alone is useless if it's not made to be significant. Madrid to a large extent have shown that there are some intangibles within teams that can decide success against statistics and match facts. It's something Arsenal / Spurs will need to develop to close the gap from a top 4 challenge to a league contender.
