I don't like that kind of reach either. If I"m getting something to the right of me, it will be easier to do it with me right hand not my left hand. I also think that he could have cheated a bit to his left before the shot. With that being said, I don't think it would have mattered. That was a great shot and it would have taken an absolute worldy to stop that one
What? His reach is much better using that technique and the best goalies do it. Made a great save from Garner later on doing the same - complained about style then did uou?
He did the same for the garner save or the mata fk which is one of his best ever
Very much this. There’s a limit to how high / far a keeper can defend with their dive side hand, especially if the ball has any loft / inward spin on it.
For some saves, I can understand it because you want to use your faster hand (i.e the arm and your body position that can move the fastest) because the save is sometimes not about how far you can reach but how fast you can get to do it. However, if you're covering your goal/angles then you need to move both your feet to put yourself in the best position to extend your reach and that should be the further arm. I've used this example before on this thread I think: if you raise both your arms and sway them to left, which arm is the furthest away/reaches the upper left corner etc? It's your left and that's basic physics.
In the goal, the reason why his right arm reach is 'better' for him is not because it's the best arm, it's because 1) he's not moving his feet (as he was diving from his set position) and 2) he's not comfortable using it his left, which is a weakness imo. It could be because his standing foot is not stronger diving to his left etc.
Slo-mo at 32 secs. He's almost diving under it because his feet positioning was so static.
Anyways I don't want to be too harsh. If he continues his sweeping and passing then I'm 'okay' with this mistake.
