Mate, I do like Gakpo in our NT. Do you seriously think he’s Real Madrid material? If so you are in the minority judging by all the opinions on Dutch football forums. I know you like him a lot but cmon mate..Some of our best players ever (Sneijder and Robben) didn’t succeed at RM and you think bloody Gakpo will?
I do agree he’s a one man attack but RM would be a step too high.
My bad English probably set me at the wrong track (in regard to nothingburger). No, I don’t think he’s RM material,

From zero to hero. Many forum scouts said he was shit only a few months ago and now seems to be the real deal

Except he hasn’t been a zero for 2 1/2 seasons now.

He’s breaking Eredivise records but some on here think he has no chance of adapting anywhere else.

Hes an exceptionally good striker of the ball and his delivery from crosses etc is also very good. He’s physically maturing now too and has a consistency that is scary.

I don't think anybody has doubted his ability to knock goals past Heerenveen and Fortuna Sittard.

Why’s he still getting linked with Leeds?
He’s not really now. Only reason they had a chance was him wanting to move but with the World Cup I think if he moves in January it’ll be to a far bigger club.

I believe Madrid are interested, if so then that’s the only place he’s going. He shouldn’t be looking at moving to a Southampton/Leeds type team. He should be looking at moving to a team who’s a level above psv.

I think he will end up at Madrid, too, if they are interested. Sad.

Madrid sounds like a potentially bad move for him. They have Vinicius at LW and Rodrygo to back him up. And they probably won't trust him to replace Benzema. I guess they could play Vinicius on the right, but I'd guess Madrid will instead wait until the next great RW emerges and buy him.

I see him joining us. Why not? He wants us, we want him. Real has Benzema, we have Ronaldo. One is still at its peak, other one is leaving the club. And moving from PSV to United and then to Madrid (like RVN) is more reasonable than directly to RM.

He could look at how Pogba got stagnated here and had to move back to Juve instead of elevating himself to Real though...

Without having seen much of him, is he proficient enough to lead the line for us? If so I think a move in Jan makes sense for us. Sadly we can't rely on Martial.

Sure, but we could really use a goalscorer in before his best years to stay and not be distracted by future transfer, especially when for the last few years we've been shifting striker after striker without any sign of stability.

Think Ten Hag could convince him to stay for longer, if the team will keep progressing altogether.

I still don't see him as someone for us to go for. We are good with wingers. We have Rashford as an inside forward, Antony as the left footed right winger who can do both, and Sancho as a wide creator on either side. Form is up and down between them but it's not a lack of talent and all are young.

Only way Gakpo makes sense is in a central role which he rarely plays. Could he develop there? Maybe, but to me I still think he's got the Memphis style production from the wing against inferior opposition, rather than the rare mix of talent that Antony has that stuck out even if he didn't excel as much as Gakpo.

Basically, Gakpo is like Rashford for me but not quite as nimble and with less pace. So what's the point.

We should try and get some sort of pre agreement in there. Seems like the type of player in form to really perform at the WC and have their few sky rocket.

Looking forward to seeing this lad up close again the next week or so. Another couple of shop window games, let's see how he does.

I think if we don’t buy him in January (and it doesn’t sound like we want to spend in Jan) someone else will

I am completely unsurprised by his season so far. So frustrating that these deals get missed out on.

I’ve been a big fan of Gakpo since mid 2020 but once the 2021/22 season ended I was confident he’d make it big.

He’s physically got the natural gifts but he’s also a very good striker of the ball.

His price will be double what we were quoted in the summer. I really wanted Antony and am relatively happy with him so far, but we may have signed the wrong player.
