Him ending his career like this was the most predictable thing ever.

He probably should retire. Going to Sporting on appropriate wages would also be ok and almost certainly the best move to help his image. I don't think he would want to go to a lower money league. I do not think his wages demands come from financial desire but more like a reflection of what he perceives to be his statute. That said, I don't think he cares for Sporting at all. He cares only about himself, a classic narcisist, and at caricature level only on par with Trump and Elon Musk.

His goal is stat padding and has been for a long long time.
To be fair, if his goal is stat padding he won’t even want to join us to play in toughest league. Playing in farmers league like PSG would be the best place to go.

If for Rio saving Ronaldo for the weekend is the only thing he can think of, he is not a very good pundit.

The funniest thing is, if he's being saved for the weekend, why would he do so much fuss about not being used against Tottenham?
I wonder what games Rio has been watching recently

That's the biggest worry. Also, pundits putting themselves into this situation means they are likely to do "I told you so" once our strikers have bad day at the office.

There's no way they will come and say we are actually better without Ronaldo.

More like a few minutes early leave from work than what you have described here (walking out of job for a day). Sometimes people do leave early from work, it happens, not that it was professional or anything, and boss has the right to get a little pissed off of course, but it’s not as serious as some of you has made out to be. As I’ve observed, some people like to act like a drama queen and make a big meal out of everything.
He left at around 89th min, what if Rashford was injured? What if Spurs scored and Rashford was injured immediately? We still had a min and added time to play.

Who can play better as CF, Ronaldo or Elanga?

It's weird that there are people who keeps defending this shit.

I don’t particularly like or hate or have strong views on Ronaldo but I definitely never wanted him back. I don’t think he has given us anything and his presence has delayed the reboot to an extent.

However, in an attempt to be balanced, he did walk off well into the 90th minute. He was looking back to make sure we didn’t concede. He knew he wasn’t getting on and had a bit of a rush of blood. He has an elite mindset for better and for worse…he doesn’t switch it off. I know he should know better but every single one of us knew that he would do this sort of thing the second he signed to come back.

so everyone making it into an issue and detracting from the performance is not really on Ronaldo…he can’t leave till January and playing in to the drama is not what the club needs.

it’s like the frog and the scorpion…Ronaldo was always gonna be Ronaldo…for better and worse.

Didnt he basically admit he's worshipping Ronaldo like he's his god?

Can't believe anyone is defending him. Real shame he's such an unprofessional player in the sense of being part of a team.

How should Ten Hag deal with him? I'd drop him completely for Chelsea and fine him.

He can ask for a release from his contract or he can start every week for the reserves.

After pulling that shit, should never be allowed near the 1st team again, not even the bench

I would love United to have the balls to tear up Ronaldos contract and put out a statement about his petulence.

Lets not forget his antics last year going to Portugal before the City game and missing the whole of preseason. For a player of his stature his lack of respect to the club, fans, manager and teammates is staggering.

Finally United are starting to resemble a team so take your circus with you and feck off Ronaldo.

Not as weird as trying to make an effort to bring this up from something very old. You must be out of your depth.
No need to get emotional mate. It's just funny to see you describe another man as a "religion" to you, and then call other people obsessed

His reputation should only give him so much rope.

Bringing him back to the club was really such a stupid decision, a poison chalice if I've ever seen it.

The joke is all of this is HIS OWN doing. Now he's paying for it, he's throwing his toys out the pram. Wish Chelsea didn't back out.

If Martial is back then Ronaldo should be dropped vs Chelsea. It might backfire too if we have couple of injuries but I hope EtH drops him.

Didnt he basically admit he's worshipping Ronaldo like he's his god?
I remember him saying he will cheer his goals even if he plays for City and something like he is like a Religion.

It's amazing that this poster downplays other player performance saying "performance was good but i expected more from 100m player", shame he never applied same logic for "I expect more from highest, second highest paid player in the league".

Wait, you hadn't used all your subs? That makes it a lot more of a shitty thing to do.
I think we used 3 subs in 2 slots. So we had one more left.

Don’t get why he doesn’t just buy out his contract and leave, as he sure can afford to. Very unprofessional behaviour.

He didn't just walk out to the dressing room, he left the stadium entirely and wasn't bothered to enjoy a comprehensive and dominant performance with his teammates.

That's inexcusable behaviour from a supposed professional and club 'legend'

Well he is clearly wrong, as I have been saying in my other posts here, and he should be punished for that. But it doesn’t warrant 15 pages of discussion with so much negativity and overly dramatic statement.

At the end of the day, we won the game convincing, we should celebrate the win instead. I’d say just ban him for next game or fine him for 1 week wages for lack of professionalism (on missing 3 mins of bench time), that would be more than enough.

Read the full post…I was just giving context to the moment he decided to just walk.
There's no context. Like others said he left while the game was going and if we had an injury he'd be nowhere to be find. That's hugely unprofessional.

Said it in the other Ronaldo thread,

I would be very happy if he gets the same treatment now as Auba got from Arteta.

I’m not excusing or defending him…I’m trying to say that anyone who expected any different is deluded…and being outraged or booing the guy as someone else suggested is not what the squad needs. All share a dressing room with him, all will get asked about him in interviews, if we drop points at Chelsea and the crowd are on his back…the “club in turmoil” headlines come back out…

mall I’m saying is relax…he is just doing what we have seen him do for years…strop when things aren’t going his way. Let it slide until he is gone and focus on what matters. The team.

I can only think Ronaldo has a compromising set of images of the 2003-09 squad. I know pundits talk shite, but their defence of him is embarrassing.

The summer feels a hell of a long time ago. He’d just finished third-highest scorer in the league, playing in a highly dysfunctional side. And still Mendes couldn’t find him a new club.

Now he looks completely shot, despite playing in a side that’s been giving him plenty of service. Incidents like last night will turn prospective employers off even more.

I’m afraid we’re stuck with him. ETH has no option other than to use him in an occasional rotation/sub role and ride out his tantrums.

I agree it’s hugely unprofessional…read my post. I’m not defending him the guy. I’m saying it was to be expected…best thing we can do is to only give him attention when it’s for something relevant - like playing football matches.

Well it doesn’t bothers you abit when there’s more pages on “Ronaldo leaving early” than “Post match vs Spur”?

The thing being, more people are getting obsessed in negativity towards Ronaldo, rather than the club winning convincingly.

This was the moment that makes me want to stop trying to defend him. He's missed tonnes of chances this season so far, I did want to give him time to bed in the team given he missed pre season. He threw his toys out the pram at the start of the season, I moved and thought, okay he's still Ronnie, but walking off like that when your team is destroying the opponent is shameful. Maybe he had a urgent phone call or an injury but given ETH had no clue why he did that goes to show he didn't even have the decency to tell the gaffer he was off. This is a team game, not the Ronaldo show. He may be a legend of the game and a former hero for us, but this is now 2022 and not 2007. For one of the first times in about 10 years, we have started to look like we know what we are doing, gelling as a team, playing the manager philosophy and today, Ronaldo takes the headlines. Why don't ge just terminate his contract if he is so bothered, he's almost a billionaire. I still want him to do good, but yesterday sees me clutching at straws with him, his time here is limited.

Such a bizarre situation. He's clearly (at least in the past) exceptionally dedicated to the sport, very experienced, yet behaviours like this go right against that - outright unprofessional, petulant, etc.

Maybe these behaviours are part of the package of what made him what he was? I've read stories about Messi being a less than an amenable teammate too. He's clearly not coming to terms with his decline, and whilst he no doubt thought he'd certainly score against spurs (particularly given one or two of Rashford's chances), missing preseason and being well off form (even compared with just last season) makes it his own fault.

It's obviously very close to the end for him at United, and probably top level European football too. He needs to get his head right, understand what he wants and needs from his next club based on realistic levels of what he can do, and untill he leaves us, keep his head down and be ready for when called upon.

We told you fanboi’s he’d break your heart

Luckily I’ve learnt from my mistakes. No loyalty to the guy. Get him out.
