That was weird. It was a great episode of tv but not a great finale. Felt like it would’ve been a brilliant episode 9 of GoT but ultimately nothing got resolved and it was quite unsatisfactory.

Not sure if it was just me but Daemon's voice seemed weird all episode. It was all high pitched and nasally.
Yeah said the same thing. So odd

Thought it was a great episode.

The dragon chase scene was fantastic. Loads of tension. Child characters can be hard to like in these type of shows but I liked Lucerys. Sad to see him go out like that.

Long white hair, eyepatch, scar, a jewelled eye. Aemond is basically an anime character.

They love a grisly, tragic birth in this.

I love Rhaenys. She looks regal as feck. Her dragonrider armour is amazing too.

Hoping to see the Starks, the honourable fools, next season.

I did think it was funny that the twin kings guard just waltzed up to the funeral on a heavily fortified island and was like “guys, i’m cool” without any notice or issue.

That was the younger son right?
Yep. The oldest went to the Starks and the Aryns who are up north. Though I think there's an even younger "Valaryon" kid.

Anyone remember if the dragons in GoT had the saddles and harnesses?
I dont think they did. It makes some sense that dragons would have proper equipment at this point when the whole ruling family has them.

The writers apparently said they approached the birth scenes like battles because childbirth was for women what war was for men so they made it bloody and painful. It is pushing it though. They've replaced grisly rape scenes with dying pregnant women and miscarried babies.

I loved how they just openly said "No Stark breaks an oath" and just took that to be enough. The Starks really are a different breed.

Can we take a minute to talk about rhaenerya literally pulling her dead baby out and dropping it on the floor like a sack of potatoes? Because feck me.
She beasted that corpse out of her, I’m looking forward to someone creating a 64 bit version of her ripping the dead baby out as a react emoji.

I mean how better to establish how tough she is?

From a purely Machiavellian perspective he doesn’t seem like he would make a good medieval era leader, not assertive enough.
GOT does seem to push the idea that being a massive bastard is a plus. That said, pretty much every king in GOT and HOTD is bad.

Probably deserves its own thread once it get a bit more traction — Would probably be a bit of a Sinbad type of vibe; I think Corlys went on like 9 voyages to totally unknown places across the world.

That was a great episode. The ending especially. vhagar fecking looked like a beast. It actually was unfair how bigger it was compared to.... arrax?

And that dragon chart shows that Drogon was one of the smaller ones? insane. So, thats two big misunderstandings / accidents that will add up to the war that is coming right?

I know a lot of people have talked about the time jumps, but think it looks like we are past the major time jumps. The first few eps and time jumps was to give us a history and background for all characters (and build relationships and to show how it fell out eg alicent and rhaenyra).
But think it will be more consistent with the actors / actresses as these look the main ones now.

Cant wait for the next season. And thought the music was on point. Some of the visuals of that episode were fantastic. The dragon shadow being the main one.

The true north.
Great last episode, very enjoyable season overall. Vhagar's size compared to Arrax was hilarious, I wonder how much Daemon factored that in when he was counting up which side has more dragons.

Unfortunately looks like a long wait for season 2.

True, but remember that the chart goes by the books, so up until A Dance with Dragons. He had a bit more time to grow bigger by the end of the TV series. It's hard to make comparisons, but they definitely made the bigger (older) dragons truly and spectacularly massive here. I also like that they all look rather different, brings more personality to them almost automatically.

The last two episodes were surprisingly good, the rest were a bit shit.

Few gripes:
• Harley-Davidson handles on the dragons, ffs come on now. Try a bit at least.
• the Milli Vanilli family with the blonde dreads. Can't get over their goofy looks.
• the CGI of the dragons is almost as bas the Crash Bandicoot bats in Stranger Things. Not impressing or intimidating at all.
• the eyepatch guy, looks like a cheap Matrix baddie gone wrong. Laughably cheesy.

I wish they step up their character writing game and use more resources to make the dragons and props look less like plastic miniatures. Despite all the shortcomings I'm hungry for more.

They were always going to struggle to do a show set when there were about 14 dragons. The CGI budget must be through the roof.

I for one am glad they made the Valryons black. If they were white like the Targaryans, it would be so hard to track who is who, especially since some of them were recast 3 or 4 times during the time jumps. Its much easier to tell them apart this way. And the actors portraying the characters, especially the Seasnake, have been great.

I think it also helped in really ramming home the point that there was no doubt in anyones minds that Luke and Jace were not Laenors kids. And that it would have annoyed them all the more because it was so obvious, yet they couldn't say anything because Viserys demanded it.

That's like saying every politician is a liar.

You can't reach that level without being a badass in one way or the other.

Whoever won the Queen contest would have gallons of blood on her hands
Aside from softies like Viserys or Tommen inheriting it, I guess you're right.

I think thats because his mother was a Stark while Rhaenyras kids had two parents with white hair and 4 grandparents with white hair.

But I do agree that the connection between second name and hair colour in this show is weird. It's like every family draws from just one gene pool rather than intermarrying for centuries which is what's actually happened.

Hes a half Targaryen. His hair is the same colour of his mother, Lyanna Stark. It would seem that only "pure blood" Valyrians have the silver hair.
They showed a tiny white haired child in the kid fighting pit that was supposed to be Aegon's bastard, so that may not be correct.

Rhaenys Valeryron's mother is a Baratheon and she originally has black hair. Her hair is actually grey and not blonde. Her children all had blonde hair so the whole theory that only pure blood Targaryen isn't necessarily true. She is half Targaryen though so maybe that made the difference. If one really wants to argue they could have said Rhaenyra's kids inherited their grandmother's dark hair from the Baratheon lineage. We all know this isn't so but I'm also curious(I have a theory) as to why the kid in the pits has blonde hair.

Exactly but there's another reason that explains this but I really can't say it here. I'm not sure how it'll be explained in the show.

Which is why it made no sense to me why Viserys' kids with Alicent all had silver hair...

Yeah, I forgot about that kid. And then @3KDré pointed out above all Viserys kids with Alicent had the silver hair. So Im putting my foot down right now. I was wrong, and I wont hear another word said to convince me otherwise. :D

So two Valyrians = silver hair. One Valyrian + random = whatever the plot needs to happen, I guess.

I agree it's all about the storytelling and there's no method to the madness. It has nothing to do with recessive genes etc. Rhaenyra's children needed to appear illegitimate and that would have been harder to portray if they had light hair. With regards to Jon they needed it to be a secret that he was a Targaryen until the end. It would have been difficult to hide that fact if he had light hair. It's all just storytelling and we shouldn't think much of it.

Did we find out what happened to the baldish kingsguard captain who threw down his cloak when the greens said they were going to crown Aegon? I thought he'd end up at Dragonstone in Episode 10 but apparently not.

Guessing we will find out next season. The last ep was really focused on all things rhaenyra given the previous one was alicent.

Oh thats fair. I do also agree about the dragons looking different, with different sizes and the way they look. It adds to it instantly.
