Not a big fan of the way he plays but good for him. If he's struggling a bit for whatever reason, take a break, relax, refocus and come back and smash it. Lad with ability like him will be a menace if he can play with intensity and confidence, I want to see more of his street baller skills.

Sancho simply shies away from a physical contest. A lot like Rashford was scared to head the ball but he’s been helped now. Sancho will get help mentally getting over the physicality of the premier league as ETH is not the type of coach to avoid the difficult topics.
I saw Sancho pull out of a challenge vs Spurs… like he has done countless times and ETH yelled at him. Ole would never have said anything hence so many little things persisted.

Maybe we should treat him like a young player and slowly get him into the team by giving him a few minutes here and there to strengthen his mentality and protect him from all the pressure. One thing that is clear is that he has the talent and the main task for the team is to get that talent out on the pitch. I have not given up on him yet
It’s a solid idea but consider that when Ronaldo leaves he will be our second highest paid player.

Not his fault, but a ridiculous situation for us to be in - cheers once again Ed Woodward.

Bizarre....given that he plays professional football which involves playing in front of at least 30,000 fans at least once a week.

Why do it then?
It is mind numbing to think these things only exist to say sweet nothing's about someone.
Human nature from the playground to the grave will tell anyone that.

Honestly this is the best way forward and I'm so glad to hear this. People underestimate the potentially devastating impact social media has on our youth, especially for those in the limelight. I'm probably old school but there's no need to for additional pressure or distractions. And yes, loved ones are far more important.

The kinda thing that surprises me is this report that Neymar has called Sancho an "incredible" player: https://www.express.co.uk/sport/foo...Sancho-Neymar-Gareth-Southgate-World-Cup-2022

With all due respect to fellow forum posters, I think it is fair to say that Neymar understands football better than any of us, and I can't think of a single reason why he would be biased towards Sancho - they haven't played together and they don't represent the same nation. So there must be something that really made Neymar admire Sancho.

It may or may not mean much because mentality is more important in football than technique, and maybe Sancho just lacks mentality for us or in EPL, but it could also be that we don't currently have a system at United which suits Sancho. At the end of the day, I trust EtH to make the right decision, but still have tiny bit of a hope that maybe Sancho can start being great for us.

Did you see the things VDS said about VDB after he sold him to us or things Ryan Giggs said about Daniel James or even what Klopp said about Kagawa?
It means nothing now because in football you don't live on past glories until your career is over and all that matters is what they are doing now while they are still playing that counts.

Can't someone train hard and still be on social media??
What a crock!
maybe the issue is a mental one, with clowns like you bombarding him on social media and knocking his confidence?

Best thing for him is to stay off it. let a media team handle it if he has to have an online presence

Right except VDS and Giggs were obviously biased in those cases: praising their players. What reason does Neymar have to be biased for Sancho?

Also, Neymar apparently said this again several days ago. So the praise is recent

Like Maguire, let's move him on. We've spent very poorly on British talent, that's fact, and obvious. Deadwood, I'm afraid.

You have just proven you are the clown.
Anything I post about him is down to how he performs on the pitch and if that offends him he is probably weak in the mind and does not have what it takes to play at the highest level.

I would like to know the last time Neymar watched Sancho play. Probably not much since his Dortmund days. I highly doubt he watches him play more than the average poster on here. His exclusion from the squad is obviously justified. I refuse to believe anybody has watched Sancho this season and considered any of his performances excellent. My assumption would be that Sancho and Neymar are friends.

I have hope for Sancho. He obviously has talent. It's up to him to start showing it.

I think with him it's definitely mentality that is the problem. He ran into trouble at Dortmund because of that in the past, arriving late for training, tone def posts on social media after bad games and so on. I hope the rise of Garnacho can offer a needed kick in the arse for Sancho and make him realize he isn't a guaranteed starter anymore, that there are other options if he doesn't perform. Maybe missing out on the WC is also a wake-up call, I hope we'll see a different Sancho after the break.

That's a strange move, why does he need to shut down social media in order to focus on family? Is it either a case of lacking self discipline, or just a matter of getting too distracted by public comments from social media? But either way I guess its good on him, hope he start finding his form soon.

By the way, Garnancho > Sancho

I am surprised at people being surprised. He probably feels all social media is a distraction for him right now. This might just be one part of many things he is doing to fix his United career. Whatever it is why are we even passing judgment on this stuff, we hardly know anything really. Keep the judgement to on the pitch no?

I agree about national squad. I pretty much hate Southgate, but in case of Sancho - I doubt any manager would pick him up for a national team right now, considering he is not even playing for United.

There’s a big difference between deleting or deactivating your social media & just deleting all your pictures and turning your profile picture black.

One is a genuine way of getting away from it for a bit; and the other is an attention seeking move that draws attention and doesn’t actually get you off it. Not really a surprise which route Jadon went.

Different people, different method.

Probably seeing WC training vids and pics will genuinely hurt his feeling. Everyone has different mental toughness, respect his decision.

Well I'm glad he's actively taking steps to do something about his form, but I do think someone at the club has had a word. I doubt he just woke up one morning and decided to delete everything.

Right on second thought he might have been going through some difficult period of his life, hope everything's going fine for him.

I’d bet good money this person is one of his trolls.

Am I missing something? Since when has Sancho been the new Pogba? I thought he was relatively low profile as far as footballers go?

I don't think he's ever gotten over the euro 2020 final. Coupled with a weird first season at United I wouldn't be surprised if he is struggling mentally. Still have high hopes for him though.

Honestly, he just doesn't look like he has the ability to succeed in the PL. Sometimes, there are players like this.

He doesn't have the pace or the intensity or the work rate. He looks like a poor signing. If anything, he should probably look for a move back to the Bundesliga or Italy where he can play to his skills.

He has been a nothing player throughout his time here. I don't think there's a player there that will succeed in the PL.
Don't think it's ability that's the issue, I would say it's mentality. He seems to be going through the same motions as Rashford last season. Been to a few games this season and what strikes me is he looks like he is hiding in games. He sometimes won't make the run or he won't take a defender on and opt for the safe pass.

It can be argued that the Bundesliga is not on the same level as EPL but going off his time there, he is no dud and certainly doesn't lack ability.

Although it’s very admirable of Neymar to give praise and I’m sure it’s appreciated by Sancho, the comments he made are virtually identical to what he said back in 2020 when he called Sancho a special player and he loved watching him play.

He’s obviously got an assessment of him which is heavily biased towards the days when Sancho was ripping it up in the Bundesliga. I doubt he has been following him closely during his time at Utd. It would be hard for Neymar to analyse it in detail as Sancho really hasn’t been involved in much when it comes to highlights and key moments. He wasn’t even aware Sancho wasn’t in the England squad when making the comments.

It’s similar to a player saying Dele Alli is an incredible player. I’m not saying Neymar’s comments are valid, however they aren’t a true critical analysis either. I do vaguely remember Sancho being complimentary of Neymar too when he was at Dortmund.

I like all of us wants Sancho to come good. I still have hope. He’s just not giving us signs of hope at the moment but I’m also convinced ETH will be able to get more out of him than he is currently performing.

If anything, the possible news of mental issues and not being in the right frame of mind is a positive one as it gives some rationale towards his poor performances. If he was fully fit and in a good mental state it would be more worrying that even in peak physical condition he’s still performing poor.

I hope the break does him good and comes back fresh and focused. I’m sure these next few weeks will be valuable time spent with ETH and the coaches.
