This is going to be sale of the century stuff - they’re going to make a fecking fortune
they bought us for 790, about 260 was their money and the rest loan secured against the club. They have then taken out about 150 in dividends in the last 10 years so really you can say they have only used about 100m of their money. And now they get at minimum 4 billion for it - after debts are taken out.

From a purely business perspective, it has been a sensational investment.

Maybe, maybe not. But after seeing the circus over at the Bridge, and the stinginess at Anfield, I'm leaning more towards maybe. I find the entire sports culture access the pond distasteful. They are clueless about "soccer" as well, again proven by Boehly in no uncertain terms. And keep in mind he was supposedly chosen because he is the best choice or something. I shudder to think what the other options were. I wouldn't trust American "investors" with anything, least of all Manchester United. They are all shades of Glazer in my eyes.
Investors want a return. We dont need business men, but football fans

Rule 1 of this game is start a bidding war. It's pretty much the same as a player transfer on a bigger scale.

Presumably we're just seeing the public facing element of that. Ratcliffe says they're asking too much. The press are claiming Dubai are interested. Sounds very familiar to seasoned muppets.

If the new owner can clear the debts and let the right people run the club completely self supplied financially, I will be very happy.

Ratcliffe said not too long ago the Glazers told him United weren’t for sale. That’s looking like one huge smokescreen right around now.

wouldn’t be surprised if his bid is well down the road already.

Rule him out. No way our club value will increase more than the amount we will be bought for.

Plus this sounds more like Glazers than any other potential buyer
That's the spirit.

Renovate OT and bring it into the modern era, improve the training ground and infrastructure for the youth and women's team, make the men's team competitive on all fronts. All those things will increase the value of the club and the TV deal hasn't appreciated yet either.

If Ratcliffe is making the bid I would say he is coming with a consortium to back him up. Plus the company he owns is worth quite a bit.

Interesting few months ahead for sure... think this should be the most important United thread on the Caf for everyone since the Glazers first came in!!

This is good news. I want bidders to become public asap to speed the process up, assuming it ends with good ownership

Dubai's royal family are a dictatorship with multiple human rights violations, that's literally my point.
You don't get to be that rich without violating human rights along the way.

And its a monarchy, not a dictatorship. And they were installed by the democratic govt that britishers voted in.

We are fecked if it's Ratcliffe. More Glazer, but at least he will be dead before long, so it won't be 17 years. Probably. You have to be delusional to think he gives a shit about this club. The man literally wanted to buy Chelsea.

Taking over Nice in Ligue 1 who are competing with much bigger and richer clubs would require insane investment. We become instantly profitable the moment the debt is clepared

Some of you lot defy logic.

17 years of being leached on by the Glazers, it looks like they are finally going and now you shit on the only local investor looking to buy us saying “British Glazer”

The lack of insight is astonishing

Indeed it could not be worse than the Glazers from a football point of view. But it's not exactly a beauty contest either, let's face it. There are very few nice billionaires.

You’re not fitting the narrative so your comment will be dismissed by the anti Jim brigade.

What? So he’s going to saddle the club with debt, invest little and take out dividends?

Let’s not WUM eh. This is quite important to true United fans.
What the actual feck are you on about for christ sakes?

That reads like something out of Glazernomics. Business before Passion?!?!?

Ratcliffe is not the man for us. Look at how well Nice are getting on.

How dare you question my quality of being a Man Utd fan.

I’ll question what I want when you make silly, sweeping statements like that about something so important to many.

So what would being owned by Dubai mean for us ... How are they compared to Saudis taking over Newcastle, Abu Dhabi owning City (which is basically just UAE, so how would just their main city own United now?), Qatar owning PSG, etc.
Is it a sports washing project? Are they more progressive than the other middle eastern nations? Is it a case of being state owned that's ultimately the issue more than the values of the people behind the money? Just makes it a lack of competitiveness because of ~infinite money?
