Ronaldo : "The little boy inside of me screamed Ulsan Hyundai. That's my next club and that's why I helped South Korea"

Ulsan Hyundai : starts sweating
Hyundai Heavy Industries are trading lower on the rumours that Ulsan are thinking of signing Cristiano Ronaldo.
However South Korean experts in the K Pop industry thinks if he joins a K Pop band, he could become a bigger success. Ronaldo may switch his career after he moves to South Korea.
In the north Kim is delighted and has already invited Ronaldo to visit him.

Even worse. He literally assisted South Korea to score

For a player that generates so much press, it's amazing how several pundits and commentators don't make a peep during or after a game where he's been absolutely terrible. Really odd - and perhaps it is actually out of the respect he craves for his past achievements.

Watched so many this season where he's been comically bad, and the likes of Savage, Gary, etc never mention it. They may say the team hasn't performed, but never him. I honestly don't recall one game where his performance has been directly called out.

You wonder whether it's because earlier in his career he's been written off plenty only to embarrass his naysayers, and perhaps there's still a latent fear of being shown up. On the other hand it may just be the fear of being blanked by his royal "Highness"

Exactly.
I heard some pundit on ESPN earlier, saying that he can see Ronaldo getting the winner against Switzerland. It’s just mind boggling that his value never seems to depreciate for some people, no matter how bad he plays.

The only thing that surprised me the other day was he never got the MOTM award against Korea!

Well this is because it would be too ridiculous for even the most biased person to leave Messi out of any top 4 list, whereas the case isn’t the same for Ronaldo. I respect that some people put him top 4 but he’s not clearly better than other greats.
That’s insane to say when the only guy close to having the record he has is….Messi

The only guys to come remotely close to his Balon D or Messi and I think most would agree it should be 6/6 for both (Modric win was laughable, same with Lewa or Sneijder not winning over Messi)

No, most people wouldn’t say that. Modric win wasn’t laughable at all, he’s one of the best midfielders in history and well deserving of his ballon d’Or. If you’re talking about dodgy ones, Ribéry had pretty much already won in 2013 and they extended the vote because FIFA was concerned about pissing off Ronaldo for something else.

Actually the majority don’t care about the ifs and buts. Messi has 7 ballon d’ors, Ronaldo has 5.

I fully believe Modric deserves that prize because he was far more influential in their title win. Actually, I think he even could've won another one during their 4 CL wins.

When you would have watched a random Real match during those seasons with amnesia, not knowing any faces or names, you would have thought Modric is the best player of the team, not Cristiano. That will always be what'll keep him from being considered one of the very, very, very best: For a far too long period during his career, he looked better on a stat sheet than on the pitch.

The last 3 posts I read are so idiotic I can’t even have a bother to reply. Your replies summed up my exact feeling.
Unreal how someone can claim something so idiotic whilst completely ignoring how good and influential Iniesta & Xavi were, the best pair of midfielders I’ve ever seen that even caused international domination.
Messi was the jewell in the crown though so I’m not gonna be an absolute moron and claim they should have taken a bunch of his Ballon d’Ors

All they ever say in England is "that's not like him, he usually buries those" or "Ronaldo keeps showing great movement, eventually he will take one"

It's like they can't comprehend that actually no, he's just shit now and can't finish like he used to.

I remember before we played Newcastle at home and we dropped Ronaldo. Shearer went on a 5 minute rant about how he's a 50 goal a season striker, how can you ever drop a man like that?

It's madness, it's like they see him still look physically fit and think he's still the 25 year old?

I honestly have a feeling that Portugal will win the WC and Ronaldo will score a pen in the final and all the pundits will proclaim him as the greatest ever.
It wouldn't be that wrong but history is written by the winners.

It’s bizarre. At times it’s almost as if they’re afraid of him…

The greatest trick Ronaldo and his PR teams ever pulled was convince people and the world that being the best is only about scoring the most goals otherwise he would have never been constantly compared to Messi and seen as close to him.

There used to be a time when the best players were judged beyond their goal output. While Ronaldo has been an extraordinary goal scorer throughout his entire career, he's simply never been as good as Messi in other aspects of the game, be it skills, dribbling, technical abilities, passing, etc.

People got too caught up in the ridiculous amount of goals those 2 were putting up that they stopped looking beyond those numbers and started equaling them because they were equally putting absurd number of goals. But truth of the matter has always been any look beyond goals and Messi is simply beyond Ronaldo.

I'd challenge any Ronaldo fan out there, to look beyond the goals and tell if he's as good a footballer as Messi.
I agree with this. Messi’s never even needed to do tricks, his talent is so raw and pure.

Ronaldo’s a great striker and should be remembered as one of the greatest strikers of all time.

Messi though is in the conversation for greatest footballer to ever kick a ball.

The funniest hypocrite statement is saying Modric deserved the balon d or in 2018 but iniesta did not deserve it in 2010.

We ALL know if Ronaldo stayed in Madrid he would have won it again instead if Modric

Messi has one more Balon d or at least than he should have.

God you’re beyond parody. By “most” what you actually mean is a percentage of Portugal and Madrid fans.

Exactly. Ronaldo is one of the greatest goal scorer of all time but conversation for greatest footballer of all time? Nah, he's not in that space, those are conversations Messi belongs in not Ronaldo.

People have been conflating greatest goal scorer and footballer which the former is what Ronaldo is.

Without picking a favourite, no matter how many tricks you have, how much skill you have there's only one thing that matters in football, score more goals than the opposition, the player that enables that the most is the best IMO

As said, Ronaldo all-round game clearly isn't on the level of Messi, but to just pretend as if he was just a goalscorer is nonsense, he was a very good player for many years before he became a poacher.

Ronaldo should have at least one less with FIFA extending the voting deadline (the one and only time in Ballon D'or's history) due to Ronaldo scoring a hat-trick against Sweden.. Daylight robbery.. The guy did not even win a single cup that year with Real..

"'The decision has been viewed in Spain as a ploy to favour Cristiano Ronaldo over other leading contenders such as Lionel Messi, Franck Ribery..."
" You do not need to be a genius to see that this decision to extend the voting period for the FIFA Ballon d'Or benefits CR7."

Yep and in the context of the time, Ronaldo was having a feud with Fifa and also it was seen as ‘unfair’ that he hadn’t won any awards since 2008, so they decided to give him the award to make him happy. This is why you shouldn’t force history, it will happen itself naturally and Ronaldo got better and won awards deservedly, making 2013 look even more ridiculous.

What's your point? That Messi's contribtion relative to the contribution of Iniesta/Xavi was comparable to that of Cristiano in relation to Modric?

Minor little difference being that Messi always dwarfed everyone around him in terms of contribution outside of goals. He basically dominated the overwhelming majority of attacking metrics outside of goals (assists, chances created, pre assists, key passes, succesful dribbles, etc) 10+ years in a row regardless of who played for Barca or any other team in Europe while Cristiano id average at best in them.

Do you really think Cristiano's contribution outside of goals relative to Modric' is even comparavle to that of Messi relative to Xavi/Iniesta?

The audacity to use these fecking laughing emojis after such a stupid post..
