Classic bottlejob for England. France are now clear favourite to win the World Cup again.

England unlucky, as they often are in big matches. Can’t afford to miss penalties though in those circumstances.
Wouldn't say unlucky. Played well but didn't create enough.

France probably had more chances from open play despite being worse

Another couple yards out and that's smashed in the top corner. Unlucky Marcus.

No goals from open play, England kept possession but didn't create clear cut chances. France is a gutsy team, similar to Croatia they can manage games out.

Morocco will do France dirty. Morocco WC winners! (If not them then hopefully Croatia)

No ITV, this isn't the most painful loss..... the last 2 were. When we were reasonably strong favourites. I'm totally fine with this one. Not decisive enough really. Subs were baffling.

Another one for England, not many of these where they were the better team though.

Piss poor subs, it was safety first again from southgate who didn't look to be pro active in winning the game, whatbis the point of grealish, when has he had a good game for England?

I can get the notion behind that but in those close instances just seems players are aiming for goal pretty much every time.
Because there's no player preventing offside. I've seen it before, and it was a dance between the player on the post running back and forth, all a bit mental

So we have lost to the World Cup holders, but we lost playing well, for me large parts of the game we were the batter team.
We had our chances, good chances and failed to take them, Kane missed a pen but it is what it is.
There is no disgrace in that defeat
France took their chances well, we kept Mbappe quiet, but others stepped up.
Southgate messed up the subs, looking for goals and brings on Mount, should have been Rashford.
For me he has took this England team as far has he can.

Exactly none of them have that player and its why they are all relatively shit to the teams they were when they had one. Bellinham is great but worth 30m because he can't control a game. Neither can Gavi or the rest so that's what they are worth too. Modric is till the best midfielder in the World because those coming after him aren't worth their weight. Bellingham may become the best midfielder in the World but even if he does then he is still worth 30m because he still wouldn't be able to control a game. A great player, sure, but one that is horribly limited.
You can’t say a player who can dribble score goals tackle is limited while the one who just passes well is..

Its a warped way of looking at football.

And France have had more international success than Spain btw, without a controller. Modric may be the best of the world but without the legs of Casemeiro Camavinga Valverde etc Madrid wouldn’t have won their last CL.

I thought Grealish should have taken the FK. He is a better taker than anyone on that squad.

Having said that, Rashford will now be taking ours (well either him or Bruno). Bodes well for us.

So glad that chancer Ronaldo isn't here to take them for us anymore.

We were the slightly better team on the day.

But just don't have the belief to win it.

kane bringing that small club mentality with him to this WC.

Maguire looks devastated he has to come back and warm the bench for us now
Thought the French were better. But lack of belief also showed in that penalty.

England were good enough, France weren't very good.

@TheReligion is crying tonight so we all won.
Meh not really. I’d say the better team lost but that’s tournament football. This English team is young enough to come again and I’m sure it will do beyond Southgate.

Well done and enjoy the rest of the tournament
