I must try that strategy next time I play six-a-side - just run into the goalie and expect to be awarded a penalty. That is what just happened here. Absolutely never a penalty IMO.
He comes out and just stops him? That wasn’t a case of him running into him, his progress was totally impeded.

I don't understand why some of you don't think that's a penalty
there are people on the forum who think the rules change when Argentina play and anything they get is a gift.

You literally won’t see a clearer penalty. Some people need to find a different sport:lol:

We know the links between Italy and Argentina. That referee should have never been appointed.

That's a pen, stops a certain goal.
I'm not sure really sure on the penalty either way but I don't think he stops a certain goal, really doubt he's getting to his failed shot before the defender.

Didn't expect such an immaculate penalty from Messi though. Wow. Must have been practicing a lot.

Can't believe there are people saying it wasn't a pen. They either have no idea what the rules are or are blinded by bias

Never liked pens given like that. It basically means that the keeper can't make a challenge. The attacker can run into him and get given a penalty. I feel the same way when people get freekicks for running into a defender. There is nothing you can do about it.

Excellent pen, though.

It was totally a pen. Dunno how anyone can argue otherwise.

I love how all the Argentinians here think that everyone has just been fooled by the media. No. The player just ran into the goalie and it's pefectly acceptable for people to believe, correctly, that that is not a penalty.
