What a top Red. Few remember Buttner let alone using his pic as a screensaver.
Believe it or not something similar happened with inter. Thohir bought inter from moratti the latter being a big fan of the club. Many interisti were worried about him not being a fan as they were used with the owner going nearly bankrupt to bankroll them. Thus some journalist asked him who was the player who impressed him the most in the past few years. Thohir came up with Nicola Ventola ie a squad player who never really made a huge mark at the club. It would like united's new owners naming o'shea or Fletcher as the player who impressed him the most during the SAF's administration

Your only real MUFC if you had a poster of Giuliano Maiorana on your wall.

Interesting to hear Mitten talk about interest in Bellingham and De Jong in Athletic article. Does he know something about us getting rich owners.
I am not itk but I doubt that our new owners will be on dole

Waa going to say that if we start spending money in January, they've found a buyer, either for a stake or whole sale. The Glazers would never sanction spending if they can't take a dividend.

Very true but there are different levels of richness
Whoever will buy Manchester United will be spending an eye watering 5B-7B. He'll buy a brand that is in the decline and with sponsorships jumping ship. The squad struggles to make it to top 4 and that despite United is throwing around 200m per year at it in terms of salaries. We have players who are unsuited for the modern game (AWB, Maguire etc), others who can't even play football (Jones, Greenwood etc) and others who seem to need a safe space. On top of that there's a stadium and training facilities that are in a sorry state. That's another 1B

Anyone coming in will find it very hard to correct years of bad strategy. People will need to be sacked and new people need to be fount, players will need to be moved which is a bit of a problem if you've got a number of players on silly salaries and little talent/attitude to show for it while permits will need to be asked and plans needs to be made. That require time in which the owner will probably be forced to haemorrhage money. Some might think that this is not a problem for the typical Saudi prince. Well people like that might have the funds but they don't like looking stupid. The guy spent 7B on the club, he's set to invest another 1B and the last thing he would want is to have an army of leeches sucking his money and giving little in exchange which makes him look bad especially since that money isn't technically his but that of a sovereign nation. That's the exact opposite of sport washing. Thus whoever gets the club will want to set the ball rolling as quickly as possible and that is achieved through a number of great signings and CL qualification. That will create a good feeling towards the club and will bring the sponsors and therefore money back. That's something even the Glazers understood which is why they always spent big whenever we failed to qualify to the CL.

Raine can want doesn't meam they get it. The debt will be priced in.
I believe that some debt will be priced in but other debt will not. For example the new owners shouldn't be expected to saddle the debt created by the Glazers to buy the club. However they would probably be expected to pay the yearly instalments we have with Dortmund for Sancho. Jadon is a United 'asset' not a Glazer one. He won't leave with them.

Yeah, the principle debt should be catered into the price of the club. The rest of the debt is the clubs debt.

This is why due diligence is dome beforehand, to understand what the new owners are actually taking on.

I can't see the Glazers taking on any debt on 'assets' that will remain at the club after their departure.

Why would any football reporter know anything about the takeover? Fecking Sky News broke the story and apparently it’s being going on for months before then

Avram Glazer has been photographed in the Middle East a few times over the last few months including right now for the world cup. He was at the France Morocco game just the other day.

He's not even a big football fan either. Clearly he's there on business and just taking in a game or two whilst over there.

Middle eastern partial sale or complete sale is looking rather likely I'd say. The money involved is just too big for most others.

Not in our current financial situation.
That's what people have been saying for 18 years. The weakest argument against the Glazer's has always been this insistence that we had no money for buying new players hoping that nobody noticed how much money we were throwing (recklessly at times) at buying new players

That narrative that was pushed when for 18 years people could see it was demonstrably untrue, has been the single biggest driver in apathy towards protests against the owners.

the rumours were flying back in the summer though

I remember on one of those shows with Nev and Carra there was a journalist and they asked him about the rumours back then and he said from what he was hearing he thought there was substance to it this time

Exactly. The principal debt is really theirs, which they so kindly bestowed on us.

But debt taken out for player transfers, operational goods, etc, will all be the new owners debt.

I'm not sure what you mean by this?

the entire debt will be the responsibility of the new owners

Yeah, back in the summer he was talking about a breakdown between the siblings with the two wanting to stay and the rest wanting to sell. Which has turned out to be completely accurate.

Because Mitten know's a lot of people at the club and close to the club. He's been United's go to for 25 years.
For transfers, not Glazers who are selling the club? Even then Mitten hasn’t been breaking the stories he used to

Wasn’t that down to the Glazers selling 8 percent of shares last year and not some inside news?

I know but just wondering why you're drawing a distinction on which debt is theirs?

all the debt is the clubs (and will be the new owners)
Unless the Glazers have to settle a certain debt with the money from the sale that the new owners dont want to be liable for.
If the Glazers invested everything back into the club again over the years then we would be debt free now, instead they pillaged the accounts at every chance.

Yeah, exactly. The principle debt has nothing to do with Manchester United the club. It's the owners LBO debt. Any new owner would want that to be gone when paying for the club.
