Roberto De Zerbi is a potential opportunity for Spurs and he has the ability to coach a brand of football that is attractive on the eye in possession and effective off the ball via a high intensity press. I think he's showing the potential to be a world class coach.

Arteta is absolutely schooling Conte here and the reason for that is very simple, and that is because he's a superior coach at implementing a progressive/imposing play style on the ball. Spurs better hope Harry Kane can muster something because I can't see any other way back unless Arsenal gift them a goal.
Tbf, second half Arsenal can't control the game at all. Not saying that in defence of Conte but more about the schooling.
Conte is a manager with very negative philosophy and for me, Arsenal winning is more about poor Spurs tactics than Arteta genius.
And I like Arteta and think he's good. Just not the greatest example of it in this game.

As for De Zerbi, he is likely going to be very, very expensive and it's questionable if Spurs can offer him serious spending assurances. This squad lacks creative midfielders and I don't see how De Zerbi can replace that. He plays Lallana so much because of it.

He did win the league with Chelsea you know, and looking at how they're spending money now, I think he'd fit there again just fine.
They gave him over 250m in his 2nd season and he finished 5th. Leaving them with Bakayoko Morata Zapacosta Barkley Drinkwater etc players that they've been trying to get rid of for 5 seasons

We’ve got a lot of things wrong in recent years, but avoiding this bloke wasn’t one of them. Grim stuff.

Why does he take so long to make a significant change? He watched us all over them for 45 minutes too.

He's a good manager but at the wrong club. He isn't the kind who's going to sign and develop young players and work on an average budget. Spurs certainly don't spend as other top clubs do so Conte isn't the man for them really. Still I'm glad we went for ETH instead.
Agreed. Hes one of managers who looks at the short term and builds a team who are mature and experienced to win right now. Long term be damned

Any manager who goes to spurs will struggle, a 10 year debt to repay off the stadium will be a severe handicap.

Probably better off going back to the model of developing young players and accept that on occasion they may scrape into CL qualification.

He's been terrible in my opinion.

Be very surprised if any spurs men are still defending this

Tbf, it’s not purely about money. They invested a lot in players. It’s the football philosophy that is out of date.

Arsenal didn't attempt to control the game in the second half and dropped back into a mid-block shape and invited Spurs onto them because they had a two goal buffer.

Arteta is a coach who has a defined way of implementing a proactive, attacking brand of football that looks to dominate the ball within the positional play principles with a pronounced off the ball pressing game. He's still only 40 years old, which is very young for a head coach/manager at the highest level. It's hard to say how high his potential is right now, but he's already displayed the ability to coach and implement a progressive play style that correlates to the modern day reality.

If not De Zerbi then there's other coaches who have the ability to coach and implement progressive play style.

And the Spurs squad lack a creative midfielder or a ball playing CB because their DoF decided to sign Bissouma and waste a lot of money on players who don't start for them. The obvious target for Spurs should've been Ruben Neves or a ball playing CB who would've helped Conte find the wing backs in transition but Paratici decided to pair Hojberg with Bissouma who was known to be limited in his passing ability.

Yeah, what I'm getting too.

Even same on the Caf with the resident spurs men.

Massive issues with how he setting them up, keep conceding first half every match.

Dodged a bullet, no doubt about it. He’s like Mourinho, every job seems like he’s just passing through before moving on to the next. I wouldn’t want him anywhere near United. Apparently Spurs rejected ten Hag because he lacked character, all I see with Conte is a sour faced, miserable, bland man who rarely smiles. God know who‘s the judge of character in a Spurs managerial process.

The higher ups at Spurs 'rejected' ETH but thought this man was the one?? I'm starting to think there is more to that story.

Weren't there ex united players saying we should sign him up over ETH?
During the early days of the season, when Spurs were looking like real deal, a lot of people said it. Neville was even ridiculed for suggesting he was not a good fit for United as far as I can remember.

A shade of United under Mourinho, playing depressing-induced football. Hopefully Levi "best football CEO ever OMG!" keeps him for 3 more years.

They had a similar attitude with Mourinho right up to his sacking. It's like they are so flattered that a coach who has previously won major trophies has washed up at their little club that they will overlook all aspects of his disastrous tenure until Levy gives him the P.45. And then inevitably attempts to hire Pulis or something equally stupid.

The only reason we didn't sign him was because Spurs sacked Nuno about a month before we pulled the trigger on Ole, which drew a lot of ire from fans saying we missed out. And the only reason Nuno was sacked that early was because he lost 0-3..... to Ole.

I saw a club statement news on Tottenham website and thought they sacked him, turned out they were talking about the supporter who attacked Ramsdale. Kinda killed my excitement.

Anyway he failed there and I see no point in keeping this going. The funny thing is I can see them hiring Poch again and I doubt he'll produce half the results he produced in his first stint.

They didn't stand up for Jose this much though, I would still wager that he ends up winning another Serie A or a Ligue 1 after leaving Spurs, his football isn't great to watch but do people really expect more from this Spurs squad? They've had some injuries but besides maybe 4/5 players their squad is pretty dire, I'd argue he's overachieved by having them in the ko stages of the Champion's league.

Why would you be excited to see Conte getting sacked?

They look no better than they did under Mourinho. They’re going nowhere with that midfield.

Getting serial winner doesn't suit Spurs at all. They should stick with their principal under Poch, buy cheap players, develop them, play good football and who cares about winning trophy. In fact, I think they should look at Dortmund as an example of fans enjoying football.

End of the season, just go hire Poch again, rebuild the squad by selling players like Kane and also the old players, and use the money to invest on young cheap players and develop them.

Agreed, it's strange for a club not known for their trophy cabinet to go after two consecutive managers that "serial winner" pragmatists that don't advance the club at all if they aren't winning. Not to mention that style of football just hasn't worked consistently for almost 10 years, especially in the recent era of every side pressing/counterpressing high up the pitch.

They should but just from a quick google the cheapest Spurs season ticket costs more than the most expensive ticket at Dortmund.

The fans are paying a ton for not a lot, so I can why everyone is desperate to bring in trophies and to be challenging with the big clubs.

Problem with Conte is that he’s trying to play a system, ie 3-4-3 without having the players who are capable. There’s a fairly unimpressive mid field and rubbish defence.

They need a new RB and LB. Emerson, Docherty, Sessegnon and Perisic aren't good enough long term. The former three aren't good enough for now. Spence deserves an opportunity at least. Bentancur was a massive miss for them yesterday too.

But when a coach’s commitment to the club feels so conditional, why should anybody else sweat and bleed for it? Conte is not wedded to this project as Pep Guardiola is to Manchester City or Jürgen Klopp to Liverpool. He does not empathise with Tottenham as Mikel Arteta does with Arsenal or Gareth Ainsworth with Wycombe. This is a job, and a strictly limited-term job at that, a job to keep him going until something better comes along. His priority, career-wise, is simply not to mess up. Grasp that, and everything you see on the pitch makes a little more sense.

Conte is really freelancing as Spurs manager waiting for something better and that's probably going back somewhere in Italy or maybe Atletico Madrid ?

The issue is about Conte being Conte, not about him being at Tottenham.
The only time in the last ten years when he looked genuinely happy of being somewhere was in his first season at Chelsea.
