With you on one and three but Neville? I'd rather sit next to a car alarm for an hour.
Look, Gaz is opinionated but his heart is in the right place. He was the first to step in when the local supporters club needed help to buy its premises

None of these are the European powerhouses that are PSG and Man United.
The scale at which both organizations operate at will bring the game into disrepute should the authorities not impose strict measures especially the inter movement of players between the two clubs. For example, if the Qafari come in and clear the debt, both the acquisition and transfer one, we could have a clean slate FFP wise so whats to stop us buying Bellingham and immediately loaning him to PSG or them loaning us a midfielder the moment Eriksen broke down?

From the looks of things UEFA aren't as serious with this but it has the potential to bring down the game to more farcical levels. If they are to be allowed to take over United then intertrade between the to clubs should be suspended as a condition.

I will indulge in some muppetry and suggest that if these have started writing letters it means the sale is going ahead full steam.

Certainly not going to stop them as they have Khalefi onboad, seemingly.

Unless you can find an article in the laws that prohibits ownership of multiple clubs only if they both are included in a list of powerhouses (and show me this list), I don’t think that would matter.

yep, I cannot wait for us to be taken over. I hope its someone rich enough to build us the state of the art training facility and stadium too.

Ten Hag also needs to be backed with whoever he wants, he has shown me enough that he is the right man to get us the big trophies.
Excellent points mate, could not have said it better myself!

Which is irrelevant from a legal standpoint. If that's the argument then it's highly unethical and subjective.

Since when are PSG considered a European powerhouse, if they are then City must be as well because the have won the same European trophy once

Was just going to ask the same question.
They weren't considered full stop until their takeover.
So if they are then the definition of a European powerhouse is basically how much money you have not what you have achieved

You said there are precedents, but there hasn't been one like this where the same entity owned two big clubs. I looked at the clubs under the City Group and none of them are big, with New York FC probably the biggest.

Even if there aren't any legal standpoints to block the takeover, whose to say whether it could come back to bite us in the arse in the future.

Eh we could get into an agreement with UEFA that we'll never sign each others' players.

We more than likely will be. It's a BS logic to allow it just because we aren't clashing in one season.
That could be the same with any team. We’re only 7 points above 5th!
Girona are 11th. They could easily get EL football next year. There you go. Same competition as City since 3rd in your group gets you EL football. You can’t own two teams that play in either competition thanks to that.
UEFA can’t step in because we aren’t in the same competition when the the takeover happens. They never ruled on Ref Bull until they both qualified for the same competition. That wasn’t judged by what ifs or odds of something happening, they waited until it happened. Both clubs had been well taken over by that stage

I’m pleased to hear this. Whilst it won’t necessarily stop the Qatari takeover, it will add an important layer of scrutiny so they are jot simply waltzing in and riding roughshod over the rules. Hopefully we will find out more about who these ‘private individuals’ are and just how private they are too!

That's the only part that I'm talking about, the rest is utterly irrelevant. The UEFA can't arbitrarily bend rules based on what ifs.

Within the UEFA the same person can own several clubs, the same company can own several clubs and a club can own other clubs. What the UEFA can do is not invite a club to participate to one of their competitions and they haven't done that either.

My sources are telling me that there is no Qatari bid. They have an account here and after browsing the forum they were shocked that so many people thought it was acceptable to make comments about the original game in the show thread for TLOU.

No shit, the French league is about as exciting as my cat's litter tray.

The hilarious thing in all this is I bet the French authorities were delighted with the Qatari takeover of PSG and all the stardom its brought to their capital, not realising its led to the essential death of their league.

Reading this you would think that Paris is some random place.

HAHAHAHA. Why are we always the ones who have to ensure the integrity of football? Where were these organizations crying about the City, Newcastle and Chelsea takeover? It's always us who have to adhere to 'fairness', but never other clubs.

In a footballing perspective Paris has hardly been a powerhouse city. Yes PSG have had some stars prior to the Qatari takeover, but compared to the other major cities in Europe its hardly a massive footballing legacy compared to the clubs you'd think in Milan, Madrid, London, Manchester, etc. Only other major city I can think of that's also been lacking in footballing prowess is Berlin.

it's a conundrum for Club. Glazers clearly want to sell to highest bidders. They are not going to make any investments until the sale is complete. Highest bidders are Qatari group. this will drag on and they will move on to other clubs.

Worth noting, FairSquare's activity is focused only on Gulf states' involvement in sports. Like, all of it, they have an extremely narrow field of interest.

anybody else know if this is true? Seems a strange subject to dedicate yourself to and even then have zero impact on the process.

I'm going to go sleep straight after the game tonight and wake up bright and early, to watch the Qatar bid come in.

What do I do if Fair (and) Square manage to stop the bid coming in? Do I get happy because some aren't happy? Or am I happy that the Glazers will be staying?

It will be opposite. Glazers want to sell, Qatari group want to buy. This will be quick. In a month we will have new owner.

There's a bunch of people who like to not be the silent majority. They have to voice their opinion so it's on record, then they can say 'we told you so' down the line if it goes to shit.
