Stretty News posted a transphobic opinion piece in defence of the Qatari takeover a couple of days ago, you only have to look around here to see what the promise of money has done to the fan base. The idea that the club won't be changed by a different owner ignores all of that.
Have we seen the Abu Dhabi or Saudi’s stop City or Newcastle players from wearing LGBT logos ?

Of course the club will be changed by new owners, hopefully for the better. But this idea that ME owners will try and enforce their societal norms on the club they takeover is not something backed with evidence, either in football or their other investments

Well the mass manufacture and sale of chemicals isn't great for the environment but then neither is the trillions of barrels of oil and gas either.

As far as I'm aware INEOS aren't human rights abusers though who let their workers die needlessly.

Jim Ratcliffe is miles richer than the Glazers and is also a fan of the club who is from Greater Manchester. Would be a much better solution than selling our soul to them lot
Well if he's such a big fan then why was he trying to buy Chelsea, also his statements need fans to sit up and take notice. I don't care about ROI only about doing whatever it takes to succeed both on and off the pitch

I note that you are one of the strongest opponents of the Qatari takeover of Manchester United. But I'd like to assure you, we'll be doing a total acquisition soon.

Where I come from that looks like a veiled threat. Like me saying I can't help but notice that you're disagreeing with me, but rest assured I know you leave you back door open when you go to work.

And then you come back home to find a shit in your kettle.

Maybe, but I still think he's planning to shit in Delaney's kettle.
He sounds like the type of guy who would shit in someone's kettle.

In real life, none of these clubs have had any of their states domestic politics imposed on them by their ownership yet, pie in the sky to speculate that that would change with United all of a sudden...

PSG even did the rainbow lettering and numbering on their shirts months back during the international day against homophobia even to the detriment of one of their vocally anti-gay players who they got rid of not long after.

Weirdly enough that isn't the sum expression of bigotry that affects the LGBTQ+ community in football.

And yet persecution of the LGBTQ+ community still occurs in this countries and has never prevented the increased tolerance of bigotry in the fan base. Turns out rainbow laces are a nice show of support, but not a bullet proof vest.

How much responsibility does football bear for these kinds of issues though?

It’s just a sport at the end of the day.

Deepthroating information to Howard Nurse.

Newcastle and PSG fans have become more bigoted toward the LGBTQ+ community?

Not sure why people take Forbes' valuation of any individual's wealth as if it's irrefutable fact - they know sweet FA and rely on the individual themself actually reporting their own wealth to them.

Forbes is nothing more than marketing for rich people and corporations - and not every wealthy individual actually cares to share their wealth with them, for a variety of reasons.

Tbf.....didn't he say numerous times that he didn't believe there was a chance he could get United otherwise he would have done?

Yep it is sad as 99.9% of United fans want rid of the Glazers.

The interesting thing though for me here is if Qatar weren't in the picture then I reckon the vast majority would have no objections to the Ratcliffe/INEOS bid but that wouldn't be the case if Qatar were the only ones bidding.
Yes I have already said if Qatar weren't in the picture and potentially likely to end up at a rival them would fully back INEOS. Also worth remembering that Qatari's did attempt to buy us back in 2011.

One of the weirdest takes in this whole discussion is that the fans will all become transphobic or anti-women's rights or start supporting flogging for stealing and adultery and what not, if they support a Qatari take over of a football club of which they are "fans" of.

Clubs can really only try and police what goes on in that stands, around the stadium in match day, and to a lesser extent any online abuse were the fan is identified.

I doubt Qatar owners are suddenly going to turn a blind eye to homophobic abuse. Doubt the policy / policing will change from what it is. Unless there is a major thing that demands it like one player getting abused for 90 minutes or someone brings in an offensive banner etc

Qatar will respect our cultural values in the even they take over just as they have PSG. Same for Saudi at Newcastle etc.

At least Jim is being honest about where the money is coming from. No new debt on the club. Anything borrowed will be on them. We haven't had clarity on the existing debt yet either so hard to judge that.

What we've had from Qatar is clearly attractive as it's got a lot of our fans doing cartwheels dreaming of Mbappe already. However we know for a fact their bid isn't genuine as the guy who is fronting it hasn't got enough money. So why all the cloak and mirrors? Be honest and own it. We are being bought by the state / Royal Family if they get it. Everyone knows it so why continue the charade?

It's academic to an LGBTQ+ supporter who is the victim of it. What's clear is these ownership bids make it worse.

Yeah that’s my point. I don’t see why that would be the case. Unless he means they’ve attracted Saudi/Qatari fans to the club due to the takeover that have those views.
You said their fans have become more bigoted since the takeover.

That would be a weird take, yes. Is that why you had to make it up?

He is journalist with an agenda. They are not going out seeking gay/lesbian people.

Funny so many westerners who have worked in the ME over the past 20 plus years. You think none were gay? Where’s the complaint of persecution ( once they returned) ?
You didn't even read the article. He's literally a gay journalist who went out to Qatar to meet gay people who were using dating apps to meet other gay people in secret because they couldn't do it in public.

Why on earth would you comment without reading the article, it's beyond ignorance.

That's really where it begins and ends. All of what people are suggesting are examples of things that revolve around political constituencies. Ownership interest will always remain limited around the confides of investment. If all these parameters are required then alongside removing the middle east, remove Russia, US and segments of Asia for their specific persecution of religious individuals in their communist regimes.

The reality is if morality is the question and russian roulette is the game every person who owns a club attends dies due to some inadequacy with their respective nation.

This is getting boring. Just confirm the sale already so we can start drooling over the war chest and potential summer targets.
