Ideally, I want us to finish third, and Brighton to get 4th place.

Can't stand Newcastle, and Tottenham is just terrible. Liverpool can play in the conference league next season.

Brighton must be delighted. Their positions in the table should be swapped if var did their job last week.

To be fair more often than not the teams challenging for 4th aren’t particularly great and this season is the same again.

If we don’t finish above Newcastle and Spurs we may as well give up.

Brighton are the most likely team to finish above either us or Newcastle at this point. From that perspective, their VAR-loss to Spurs last weekend helped us. I wouldn't mind them finishing 4th as long as we finish a comfortable 3rd.

We really needed that as I have no hope with our new defense.

Win tomorrow and that’s top four all but wrapped up.
And a Newcastle win against spurs, it’s pretty much done.

Win our games in hand on spurs, that’s a 12 point lead on spurs with spurs having only 6 games left.

Even Brighton as good as they are, won't be able to do that well with their fixture list. Just played Chelsea away, but then play;
  • Newcastle away
  • City home
  • Forest away
  • Wolves home
  • United home
  • Everton home
  • Arsenal away
  • Southampton home
  • Villa away
Newcastle, city, United, Arsenal and villa to come, 3 of them away... Will be tough for them. They need 20 points from these to stand a chance, realistically 22 points. Don't see that level of consistency in terms of results for them, from a tough fixture list. Hell even just losing vs Newcastle, City and Arsenal and winning the rest puts them only on 67 points to end the season.

15/27 remaining points should do it for us, we should really beat Forest tomorrow but our focus should be on our home games. 10/12 pts out of Fulham, Wolves, Chelsea, Villa should seal it. I just cant see Spurs getting 17/21 to overtake us, nor does Brighton 22/27, even though Brighton is actually playing very well.

Brighton are the real deal this season. Got several injuries today so think that will prevent them finishing in the top 4. But what a season.

Agree.

I think spurs have blown it now anyway. They’ve got 7 games left which include Newcastle, Man Utd, Liverpool, Aston Villa, Brentford.

They’ve truly blown it.

If Chelsea got something vs Brighton it would've been perfect day for us. Didn't happen but can't be greedy, 2 great results for us this afternoon.

With Spurs and Newcastle both losing top 4 is well and truely in our hands, if we win our 2 in hand over Spurs that should pretty much seal it.

Spurs should be out of the conversation now. Even by their standards that was a hilarious ending. Get another VAR aid, Richarlison misses a free header from six yards and they still lose the game.

I can see them losing all their away games left and as long as you don't lose down there they won't be getting past 60 points.

Newcastle still got homes left v Leicester, Southampton etc so still very much in their hands.

If we had 3 more points on the board I'd fancy us but think we're just too far back. We can certainly finish 5th now though (as can Brighton).

Agree, we win tomorrow I’d be super confident and spurs could even slip to 7th at this rate, fancy villa and Brighton to get mid to high 60 points and spurs might be lucky to get 64-65 with really tough games left for them. They got Liverpool, Newcastle , United, Leeds away, Brentford and Villa away and a resurgent palace, horrible run in for them. Brighton and Villa are both on such runs however Brighton have Arsenal(A), Newcastle(A), Villa(A), Forrest (A), United(H), City(H), Everton(H), Wolves(H), Southampton (H), that’s a really tough run in assuming they drop 5 points to City and Arsenal and 4 in their other 7 games which would be an incredible finish to the season your looking at 67 points which might get them 5th as I see Villa getting 65/66 both trans are peaking at the right time and May end up ahead of spurs and Liverpool. We need a disaster now but one step at a time 3 points tomorrow, we might be 75% there.

As we will only need another 4 more wins to finish 3rd now! Tomorrow game is now our most important of the season.

I don’t want to reign in on this happy day but ours have shown to be bottlers in the past. Our midfield needs to carry us thru this very rough stretch with our CB options severely depleted.

Yep. It'll be done and dusted with multiple games to spare IMO.

Great day for us. If only Spurs didn't win against City few months ago it would be even better.

Some of you lot are fecking fannies.

Look at the state of Spurs for feck sake.

I’d back Maguire and Lindelof on stilts to keep us above those halfwits.

Teams challenging for 3rd-6th are the teams that can’t put a long winning run together.

But that doesn’t stop the hysteria on the cafe whenever United drop points.

If United was to lose to Brighton away they'll only be 4 point gap between the two so still work to be done and let's not forget it's a injury hit United team that will hopefully get no more injuries. Important to grind out the win against Forest tomorrow.

We should be fine. Spurs and Newcastle are just shite, and wont win enough games to capitalise on our eventual mistakes.
Newcastle were poor today but this is just overly arrogant, we just won five games in a row before today and absolutely battered Man Utd among those.

Think it's a three horse race for the two spots now, MUFC and NUFC the clear favourites with Brighton being the challenger. MUFC with their remaining schedule would probably have one spot guaranteed but the injuries and extra games left to play means it's not going to be that easy. Spurs are IMO done after today with the games they have coming up and the toxic atmosphere around the club. Brighton would probably deserve a top 4 spot but their remaining schedule is brutal and they also have the FA Cup as a distraction. Liverpool and Villa are just too far away.

Really shocked Newcastle lost today, fair play to Villa, they were excellent.

We need to remain focused and determined in our approach to the end of the season. The incentive is there tomorrow to strengthen our hold on top 4 but we can still be punished for complacency or for lack of energy.

Good day for us. Would have been perfect if Brighton lost too but can't be greedy (and Chelsea are just shite). Will count for nothing though if we can't beat Forest tomorrow though.

"Back in the day" this would be a gimme, but with our injuries and our horrific away form, I never trust us to beat anyone away from home anymore.

We should be beating Forest and Spurs away and with our home form it should be enough. Obviously injuries have been awful and come at a bad time but if we fail from this position then we're bigger bottlers than Spurs.

Didn’t realise Villa are in sixth. Emery is doing some job over there. Following this revelation I just went and checked it up and only City and Arsenal have taken more points in the league since he was appointed at Villa, with us in 4th behind them.

Really think we can put any top 4 doubt to bed with a win tomorrow after today's results. If spurs are supposedly still in this race then so are Aston villa who look far more consistent now and only 3 points off spurs

Brighton are better placed than spurs as well. We will come third comfortably and hopefully add the europa league

Only Arsenal have taken more points (3 more) after todays result.
