The opportunity for finishing second is genuinely there for us. It’s going to be a very dispiriting end to the season for Arsenal.

HT 2-0 City. So in control. Arsenal have been woeful, do they have a Pogba to bring on in the 2nd half? :D

If that was Casemiro they would've spent 5 minutes scrutinizing the replay before notifying the GMP

This has been the worst title decider I've ever watched. Like watching minnows from the non-league playing one of the big boys
I can't believe how out of their depth they are. Really embarrassing display from a team who's top of the league. Just goes to show how flukey it has all been.

What a shit April it's been for Arsenal. 3 draws and now most likely a loss to City. Just can't be doing that at this stage. That's 3 points from a possible 12. You can't win a title by doing that in April.

Arteta has done nothing. It's been one way traffic and what was he expecting? It needed a change even if it's a tactical one to just kill City's attacks for five minutes

At least they can all have cuddles

Real Madrid and Man Utd in the way of a potential treble sounds so difficult.

Hate to say it, but I think it will be a cake walk personally.

Dominant half from City. Felt like all the City-Arsenal game from previous years with City dominating for large parts of those games.

Meh 2 weak "kicks" for me. Nothing more than a yellow.

They had amazing luck with injuries. Zinchenko and Jesus are only two who were injured whole season. They lost one centre half now and their defence went to shit

That could have been a red card for Ruben Dias.

A draw would be a very good result right now. Still in the match, but Arsenal need to respond in the second half.

So again , players who shield the ball either to their keeper or for a goalkick (or vice versa when an attacker does it to win the corner) doesn't by definition have possession of the ball. They still shield it and again, a kick through them results in a free kick to them not the other way.
You're wrong, the players shielding the ball out of play or to the keeper do have possession technically or else a direct or indirect free kick would be awarded depending on how they impede their opponent.

Here's the wording directly from ifab's website:

A player may shield the ball by taking a position between an opponent and the ball if the ball is within playing distance and the opponent is not held off with the arms or body. If the ball is within playing distance, the player may be fairly charged by an opponent.

Edit: I should have included this as well because it's really the main distinction between what you described and what Partey actually did:

All players have a right to their position on the field of play; being in the way of an opponent is not the same as moving into the way of an opponent.

Partey clearly moved into the way of kdb and did not attempt to play the ball, that means it should be a pen for impeding an opponent with contact imo.

So the title challenge goes out with a bit of a whimper after all that then. City are still cheating bastards.

Arsenal look like a high school team by comparison. Within 5 years the only clubs that will matter in this league will be City, Newcastle, and whoever Qatar buy in the following years.

City making a very good Arsenal side look poor.
Actually think Arsenal being overawed have made themselves look poor. Looked a team who were overly wound up and pressing into silly positions first few minutes, then checked out after the goal, mentally they just aren't at it so far. A far better team than they're showing.

This was just so predictable. Only question is whether City proper go for it in the next half and get 4 or 5.

I haven't watched Arsenal much this season aside from goal hihglights but that was seriously bad. Barely attacked. Really bad.

Not watching the match but have seen the scores...any hope of City blowing this?

Give me refs that don't dish out a red for that all day long.
