But one thing I’m not understanding. Why do people assume payment from Ratcliffe to the glazers will come in instalments?

If his bid is accepted and he gets the loans. The glazers whose shares be buys out get paid. Avran and Joel who he aligns with don’t sell anything so don’t. If, very big if, they decide to sell in 2 years then they get paid.

It depends on the writer to be honest.
Ornstein remains the best unbiased journalist. If tune in to talk of the devils podcasts then the hosts make their views a bit more clear on disliking the Qatar avenue from the two options available.

Though I agree they aren't meant to show their preference in articles, I think they get their leaks from Ratcliff easier than they would Qatar.
I mean it could also just be that these are their actual opinions. Journalists don't solemnly swear to be 100% impartial all of the time, and nor should they.

It's kind of sad seeing people throw a shit-fit just because the big bad journalists dare to criticise their preferred bidder.

Lot of people so certain Qatar will not walk away. They walked away in 2011.
They approached the Glazers and were told it was not for sale.

A fraction different to Glazers stating its for sale and hiring Raine to manage the process.

You have no idea what Jassim has bid and any further possible incentives such as NFL openings and opportunities which could more than bridge any gap in hard cash
That’s what probably seals it. ME opportunities for NFL, maybe he offers a mall somewhere etc.

Ratcliffe brigade were sure this was sewn up a couple of days ago but it was always highly likely Qatar would just come back and blow them out of the water. If Qatar really want the club they will get it.
Doesn't look like they really want it.

If you got the choice of your lottery win as either:

£3m up front
Or
£10k a month for 30 years (£3.6m)
What would you take?

Any sensible person would take the cash upfront as you’ve got it and can do what you want with it.

Therefore surely the Glazers will take the biggest pot the soonest……and get out of Dodge.
£10k a month for 30 years

Im not saying they aren't allowed to have opinions, but from the podcasts the Manchester based correspondents have already stated they arent close to the Jassim camp. Athletic based developments on the Qatar talks have tended to be broken by Ornstein really.

When they talk of developments (Crafton, Whitwell, which isn't really that often) it tends to be around Sir Jim's movements.

Most of the journalists seem to get better stories from one camp vs another.
Ah. Ok. Gotcha. I misunderstood your point.

Did you read my post?
I didnt say they can't have an opinion. I didn't say they can't air that opinion either. I never threw a shit fit either

Im just saying the Manchester correspondents aren't close to the Qatar camp.

Apologies, I should have made it clearer that the shit-fit comment wasn't intended to be aimed at you. That was more towards those who get annoyed at the "journalists' agenda" any time a piece that is critical (or frankly, just not deferential) towards Jassim.

I should have put that in a separate post; my main point of contention with your original comment was the implication that journalists are critical of Qatar because they receive more intel from Ratcliffe. I don't really buy that.

What? Who said that? The bid is not "blowing Ineos out of the water." Qatar are not going to be fleeced by the Glazers.
So what would be the point of “Blowing Ratcliffe out of the water”

That’s the exact reason they are negotiating so hard on this.

That line was quite obviously a PR negotiation tactic aimed at JR to get him to play his hand

That is the point I have been making all along! Some people here think Qatar will just go high. It was my response to that claim. Blimey!

Interesting. Of the Twitter ITKs, I'd definitely say he's one of the more credible ones. In fairness, that by itself is saying very little.

I do at least think he has some degree of contact with somebody who has some degree of intel around the club, though I'm not sure I buy that he'd have much inside knowledge on the sale.

See the way that’s worded suggests that’s £4.8 billion for the Glazer’s shares rather than their value of the whole club, personally I don’t trust Talksport as a source but if that is £4.8 billion for the 69% and the reported £5.5 billion total means that’s the £700 million debt the club has then that’s a fantastic deal for the parasites.

I get that but the notion that they may walk away is a bit daft now to be honest I think. I think we’re long past that point.

Ah right no problem.
No I didnt say that they are critical because they don't get Intel from Qatar. I listen to their podcasts most weeks and their reason for being critical is more down to losing identity under state ownership plus the moral dilemma around it all. It wasn't down to them not having any information from them.

They do balance it out after to say most fans just want to focus on the football. It's meant to be a release from politics and all that, not riddled with it.

Those that believe Ratcliffe will get rid of the remaining glazers in a few years. Just months or so ago none predicted he’d be keeping them on.. now you’re certain in 2-3 years he’ll get rid of them?
Why would they go after two-three years if they don't want sell now? He's just buying in in my opinion, he'll buy out the other family members and the other two will stay on as shareholders. All this talk of them being forced out in a few years is just kicking the can down the road to keep the fans from kicking off.

He seems to have some idea what is going on but the Muppetiers and himself personally are very pro-Ratcliffe

I dunno. It's surely got to reach a point where Qatar say take it or leave it, right? Then it will between what Qatar have on the table at the point and the INEOS Glazers remain (the Irony!) bid?

This has probably been asked a number of times, but if Ratcliffe is taking a loan to fund the purchase how is he going to finance an OT rebuild or refurb? Or upgrading the women's team facilities?
