MGS3 Remake would be insane but I want MGS1 more than any other.
me too. I could never get into MGS3 in fact MGS1 is the only one I really enjoyed. 2 was pretty good. 4 was rotton and also never got into 5 either

maybe the series isnt for me

I'm usually opposed to just remaking older games but MGS needs it. Tried replaying MGS2 and the controls were abysmal.

Yeah, I'm disappointed on the MGS3 remake rumours. MGS1 needs it more, and it's also the superior game by a distance. I think MGS 3 is probably the worst in the series. I did complete it, but a lot of it was a chore.

A MGS 2 remake, however...now we're fecking talking!

Agree about MGS1 but I wouldn't trust them to do a good MGS2 remake at all. The ideas beyond that game are probably more interesting than the game itself and frankly I'm sure they'd butcher it if they went in with the idea of doing a glossy remake (and also not having Kojima / Tomokazu Fukushima on board given how influential the latter was for writing the scenario). MGS3 is altogether a much safer option being primarily a campy cold war / James Bond spoof with great gameplay.#

MGS1 remake would also be a total system seller.

Thats a hot take. Never heard anyone say that before. Thought 3 was the best in terms of story villains etc. But yeah they should have started with 1. 4 is my favourite. Its impossible for any game to beat it for me. It made a big impact on gaming for me. They need to get on remaking the whole damns series.

Agreed, it is as stupid as remaking Silent Hill 2 before 1 that needs it more, they just go for more popular ones. And yeah, MGS3 is indeed overrated, MGS1 is superior in every way.

Don't know about MGS2, I haven't played it in so many years, but I remember actually loving the gameplay, too. I absolutely loved big shell as an environment and Fatman is arguably one of the best bosses in the whole series. It's been so long since I played it though.

In terms of them doing the MGS 3 remake, isn't that the first one, chronologically? Perhaps that's why they're doing it for. I don't know, just seems weird to me.

Really? Don't think it's that uncommon. MGS 2 is generally considered the best, while many people had a lot of problems with 3. I just really didn't like the environment and the silly little gameplay additions.

It's always hard to gauge what the majority view is, but what you are describing is pretty much the complete opposite of anything approaching a consensus I've ever seen. Most people seem to rate it MGS 1 = MGS 3 >> MGS 2 >>> MGS 4. I'm not including MGS V here because that is so separate from the other games that it's all over the place. In terms of gameplay, people usually rate that one at the top, but in terms of story it's probably bottom.

Interesting. What you have there is the complete opposite of what I've always seen

MGS 2 is nearly always held up as the best in the series from what I've observed. MGS1 is there, of course. It was the first game and it was a revolutionary one. But I've never, ever got the sense that the majority of people preferred MGS 3 over 2.

And I always thought that MGS4 had a very fervent fanbase!

I've always thought MGS2 was the best but I have seen a lot of praise for 3. I think it's tight.

I generally never seen anything other than MGS considered the best amongst fans. Usually followed by 1.

I’d personally go 3, 1, 5, 2, 4 just to be controversial.

2 was fantastic. I only ever played through 3 once. 4 was very good thought cutscene heavy even for Kojima and revisiting shadow Moses was amazing.

1 is the best though and would be my choice to be remade.

There is a lot of support out there for any of the first 3 MGS (ignoring the two MG before it) being the best in the series. MGS 3 had the benefit of the Subsistence release with significantly improved controls which probably elevated its rating a bit. MGS 2 on the other hand, had arguably the greatest game demo of all time, blowing everyone away. I do rank 1 and 3 ahead of it, but that doesn't mean I don't think it's a phenomenal game. The level of quality of all 3 was just insanely high.

Although I'd prefer a real MGS1 remake but I would love to play an MGS3 one too

Similar to MGS2, I haven't actually played MGS3 for years and years. Perhaps replaying it with this remake will change my opinion of it. I always remember they had that boss battle where you could go into the console setting and change the time and date, and that would kill him because he would die of old age. Pretty neat.

I think i like 3 the most, purely for the end which i think is one of the best bosses in any game ever. They're all great games though, i wouldn't hold one up as being much better than any of the others.

I get the complaints about it making no sense to start with MGS3, but I won't tolerate any slander. That was the pinnacle of the series by far. Fantastic game, and I love all of them but that still stands out above the others.

Agreed. 2 was so ahead of its time in terms of visuals but not playing as SS for most of the game made it highly divisive. 3 was just spot on - the villains, the sokolov mission, Eva, the Ost as you’re climbing the stairs, the bosses (old sniper in forest, mantis etc they were all unique) - just brilliant.

In terms of the best MGS it's extremely tight between 3 and 1 but i would just go for 3 because of the location(s) and the survival element. 2 is an extremely clever game that I think predicted a lot of things about where we are right now in the world (the age of misinformation and AI). 4 was disappointing and looks worse with each passing year- marrying Meryl off to Johnny :houllier:

Something i'm slightly worried about is that if they remake 3 and it sucks then am i ever going to have the chance to play the original games on a modern system? They had the HD collection on PS3 but only MGS5 on the PS4.

I believe the Xbox 360 version of the HD collection was playable on Xbox One via BC, so that should mean it's also playable on the Series consoles. Not sure about it. Definitely not on PS4 or 5 though.

MGS 4 is even worse. Outside of emulation, that game will probably be held hostage by the PS3 for all eternity. On the other hand, perhaps it's best that it stays there. We can all pretend it never happened.

I'd obviously buy any MGS remake but I'd be worried that they'd just make it like RE4/Dead Space remakes in that it's over the shoulder shooter. I liked the almost top down camera.

It matches the look of the PS5 console, and if you already own the Pulse 3D wireless headset, you can connect it directly to your Backbone One via its 3.5mm headphone jack.

And presumably any other headset with a wired output option?

Yes. If I were to get it I'd just use some old earbuds I got included with a phone five years ago. Doubt I'll get it though, will see what the rumoured cloud handheld is like as I want to play the PS+ stream games away from my PS5 but all they have right now is a PC app and I use Mac.

My bigger concern is that it’s not actually going to be good. Konami have been an absolute shit show of late. They’ve absolutely ruined PES / efootball. Hopefully this does justice to the incredible game.
Precisely why I don’t have much high hopes for this potential MGS3 remake.

I know someone who resisted playing Bloodborne for many years until playing it this month because he really wanted to enjoy it at 60fps. I will laugh if this gets a remaster now.
