Spurs away isn't for weeks, how can you possibly be thinking about that?!
Only because that's the sort of game away from home he would be very useful for. Think we can get by the Wolves game without him but would like it done after that

I genuinely think it's because of me. We get along well otherwise but he has this tendency to hate everything that you like, if you like a game or a movie then he'll almost without exception say that he found the same game/movie absolutely terrible. Hence I reckon the minute he found out I'm a United support he decided that he hates us. He doesn't admit it and says he's always hated United but I don't truly believe that.

There were literally 2 cases last season where I found out we conceded because he was so fast to text me 'hahaha United' on WhatsApp that my 5-6 seconds delay on a stream did not catch up.
You're living rent free in his head mate! Every time he does that you should just reply: hated, adored, never ignored

Didnt see much of him, but he was praised at the World Cup. What's he like?

I'm imagining a Scott Parker sort of type (in a good way), is that way off the mark?
Let me say first that I dont really know the player well. But just from looking at his stats, they are the most similar to Fernandinho (of any player I’ve seen).

I still reckon he might be starting over Casemiro.
Wouldnt surprise me either if he is brought in to start games and fight for a place rather than just being back up. While Case is great, there were games he struggled in last season. Or seemed a bit off the pace.

Reminds me more of a Fernandinho, that was my first thoughts when watching him.

He was sorely needed last year and had it not been for the suspensions I think he would have been in with a shout for our Player Of The Year.

But with that said, I can't envision him seeing through his deal, I think a Saudi club might bite on him next summer if he is receptive to it.

Seems like we're only in for him on the condition that we sell at least two of Fred, McT and Donny.

Yeah. He was absolutely brilliant most of the time. He is about to enter his twilight years, probably. If it’s occurred to us then it’s going to be on EtH’s list to manage his decline and exit. Step one looks to be bringing in Amrabat to compete with him and keep him playing close to his max level.

I said earlier and a few others have mentioned it as well - Amrabat is possibly closer to what EtH is looking for in the lone 6 position but there could also be a plan to play them together sometimes.

Peak / prime Case would outcompete Amrabat, I feel, but now it will be a good fight and they can push each other to a high level.

I like this signing. Assuming it happens.

Yeah same here but would be great to have a Caicedo/Lavia partner Amrabat

I think Amrabat’s age works really well in terms of squad balance too. Coming into his prime so he’ll bridge the gap perfectly between Case and young talents like Mainoo.

The type of player who would give us a horrid time when playing against us, but if he’s in our team… I don’t know. He’s stronger and better on the ball than McT, less of a goal threat but I would much prefer relying on McT or Amrabat for goals. So if we can sell McT for 40m and bring Amrabat in for under 30m then it’s certainly good business. Plus he’s another warrior, so maybe not a significant upgrade playing wise but character wise could be good for the team.

Amrabat IS a significant upgrade on McTominay in every way possible.

Sign him. Some serious competition for places now, upgrading the overall quality of the squad. This will be an unbelievable window if we get him. Mount, Onana, Hojland, and Amrabat would be some amazing business, long gone are days of the paying over the asking price on the final day of the transfer window for a player we didn't want anyway.

If he does come, he will be playing WITH Casemiro. He does not replace him.

Not quite, imo. He will be competing with Casemiro for the lone 6 role in our 4123 and will be an option to play with Case if we switch to 4231.

He will be a player to rotate with Casemiro. We will see a lot of him but Mount was brought to play key role in midfield. Occasionally Bruno will play on the right if we want to seal the midfield. This is a good strategy but definitely feels like Amrabat is being a bit overrated here. Although I do like the way he plays in terms of slowing the game down and passing around.

He'll give the manager another option. Fernandes, Mount, Casemiro, Eriksen, Amrabat and Mainoo would be a good selection for the manager to choose from. His profile is something we lack currently a deep sitting midfielder who is very good at distribution and ball retention.

it's not the same 6 as Casemiro will play it though. You still need an aggressive ball winner if Amrabat plays 6. Maybe if we're playing lesser teams, but Amrabat behind Mount and Fernandes, or similar will get walked over by better teams.

He can do the aggressive thing no problem. He’s a good ball winner and very mobile as well. The balance of the team may need to be shifted against some teams depending on their style so in that way, I think you’re right, we will play more of a 4231.

Case is a brilliant player when he’s in form. Amrabat will find it tough to get in ahead of him but he is good enough to do it at least some of the time and will, surely, keep Case right on his game.

We’ll play a load of games and with Amrabat added to our squad, we can naturally rotate as form and fitness fluctuate without seeing this terrible drop in quality we’ve been stuck with in the past.

It’s an interesting thought but my guess is Case and Amrabat will start together rarely but may be on the pitch at the same time at the end of matches rather more often. I really hope we get him as he can solve so many little problems for us.

He thinks Serie A is the best league in Europe, just the players United are buying are not even top 100 in the league. Onana is according to him a bottom half keeper, Amrabat one of the worst starting midfielders and there are '40 strikers better than Hojlundin Serie A'.

The guy is a legit top class WUM.
He sounds like an idiot

How is he any better at this stage?
His level for a 19 year old is already very good, he could easily start games for us and cover Casemiro

His potential in the long run with Casemiro being 32 this season is huge we could have the DM spot locked down for the next 10 years.
