Please let him play vs Bilbao at least? I am itching for some action like a crack addict. I want to see Manchester United again with an actual centre forward.
Yeah last one was probably Ronaldo in that Newcastle game or were you thinking more Lukaku in his debut v West Ham

"Fast when he gets going" isn't that useful, to be honest. Lukaku was fast when he got going but it took him 10 minutes to get going.

His opportunities to eat up ground in a race with a defender over 60 metres will be rare. It's all about being quick off the mark and darting in behind.
He‘s quick off the mark, no worries

Waiting for the meltdowns here when he doesn't score against Athletic and hearing about how we should have spent the mythical "extra £20million for Kane" or gotten Ramos instead.
Only the kneejerkers and despite my general negativity on most things I try to be patient with any signings, particularly ones likes this who have that potential to go far in the game.

Essentially nobody is playing a high line versus us when we have Onana, Rashford and Højlund it means we need to have quick incisive passing which is why we got Mount this summer for progressive passes too.

Somewhat ironically its where Sancho will flourish hes great with running with the ball and making key passes, I think Sancho will give Antony a lot of competition this year he can play everywhere across the front three too.

For better or worse, I'm almost certain Greenwood is coming back into the fold at this stage, mostly because we've left it far to late to sell or loan him and while I'm not a lawyer, I dont think we technically have grounds to terminate his contract. So I think that competition will be there...
See Muppetiers think the same as well, personally I am waiting for the top Utd sources like Ducker, Whitwell, Luckhurst & Stone to say anything

2 years from now he will be a different animal, with more time in the gym and playing against who we have in training like Casemiro and Varane daily.

United also puts a lot of emphasis on individual training plans if he puts his head down he will be a 30 goal a season striker easily

Yeah look what Ronaldo turned into during that 06-08 period where you could see his physique changing quite considerably. He won't reach the same heights but definitely has the hunger to reach that build and develop.

He’s doing 100m in 11 seconds which puts him at just over 22mph, Walker is the fastest player (according to the stats) in the pl at 23mph. So in conclusion Hojilund is pretty quick and probably the second quickest player in the league.
Source for this? I don’t believe he does 100m in 11 seconds, that’s insanely fast - how would you know he’s the second fastest in the league?

If that's true , why can Antony still not cross the ball with his right foot ?

WeI agree but that’s why I’m saying him being fast is not the case. I haven’t seen anything in particular to suggest that he’s rapid.

I actually don’t seeanything to suggest this lad will be top class as his technique is also average at best but I could be wrong and certainly hope that I am.

Yeah Erik needs to push him more on improving that, otherwise he will just keep cutting on to his left and be sussed out

Faster than any United player.

Clocked at 35.97 kmph.

Rashford done 35.95 last season.
Raz Højlund already ran the 36kmph at 18yo.... he was the fastest plaýer in danish league back then. Same in Austrian Bundesliga.. he was measured to run constantly >36kmph.

So... to summarize that...
  1. Fastest man ever... Usain Bolt >44kmph
  2. Fastest footballer ever... Gareth Bale >39kmph
  3. Fastest footballer in service... Kylian Mbappe >38kmph
  4. Fastest PL footballer in service... Kyle Walker >37kmph
  5. Rasmus Højlund + Marcus Rashford >36kmph

Jeez Bale was rapid in his peak, remember him leaving Rio in his wake with goal in 2012

The one thing that doesn't seem clear from the videos is his shooting or striking technique. I suppose we'll find out soon enough but most of the goals I've seen didn't really require too clean of a strike to score. There was one outside the box for Atalanta that looked really good though.

One of the things Kane is so good at is hitting the ball true and hard, especially from angles. This is something many strikers struggle with but the best strikers all seem to have. RVP had it and you could see it when he was 19/20 at Arsenal.

Rashford is our only forward who has a varied shooting technique, the rest are all side foot merchants and it limits your ability to score. I'm excluding MG but he has the best shooting technique at the club.
Someone made a video of his shot attempts.

Can't wait to see him start, not really the greatest proponent of him coming here but we've been so starved that I just can't wait to see a proper CF in action for us again.

What's the base limit for qualifying for Olympic track? Bale's number us simply out of this world for a footballer.

The footballing dept wants him back. ts only the commercial dept that is hesitating. So far the footballing side seems to be ruling the roost -- they cut back on commercial activities on tour etc. From 3 days to 2.

I have a feeling him and Antony will link up well with the latter providing quite a few assists.

I am absolutely, definitely not basing this on their blonde hair.

There are many: here is one:

As for making him the second fastest in the league:
I’ve checked and that’s not quite true but he’s up there. Kyle Walker is turning in 37kmh speeds.

Hojlund is stocky. He has no filling out or building up to do.

I think the Sancho at 9/false 9 worked pretty well. I could see Hojland coming on for the final 30 minutes of our first few games.
Yeah it was okay. We might even try it vs Wolves but I think we’ll abandon it pretty soon. I agree it’s quite likely Hojlund won’t start the first game or two and then I suppose it will depend how he does.

We’ve had a Mod’s final warning about this stuff (in case you missed it!).

Yep. The obsession with players bulking up in this place is funny. A lot of people who don't go to the gym repeating the same tired old phrases about "bulking up" to get stronger.

Hypertrophy and size gain aren't the same thing as strength and force output development. Someone can get a lot stronger and add minimal muscle size, whilst another can get a little stronger and add significant muscle size.

That's not a good look and what worries me the most about him. His decision making is severely lacking (he's dreadful with 1 on 1 with the keeper and he often runs into blind alleys when dribling). Hope I'm wrong 'cause he seems a great character and I respect his courage and determination, but unfortunately I just dont see it with him.

Yeah Bruno is as skinny as they come but he'll easily out muscle someone like Sancho who looks bigger.

That's not bad. Not every attempt will get a goal.

Strong left foot but weak right. Yet not hesitating to shoot with right is a a good thing.

Prolific CFs are either two footed, or one strong foot but also use another. But all of them have usually good header in them. IMO without good header a #9 is incomplete. Hope Hojlund will improve in that aspect.

Darwin’s fee was £64m after scoring 26 in 28 games.

Chelsea have signed Jackson and Nkunku both for significantly less in the same window that Utd has purchased Hojlund.

A PL proven ready to go Jesus for 50m is incredibly good business and one really shouldn’t presume that Højlund for £65m + will end up being a better signing.

Regarding ‘only City and Spurs being able to say they have a better CF’ -

Newcastle - Wilson (and Isak)
Chelsea - Nkunku and Jackson (and Broja)
Arse - Jesus and Nketiah
Liverpool - Gakpo? Nunez possibly
Brighton - Ferguson / Juao Pedro
Brentford - Toney

It’s entirely possible that actually all these are currently better CFs than Højlund.

Seems very early to make claims like that.

Especially when I almost guarantee that in the next breath after declaring him better than Jesus, Wilson, Nunez, Gakpo etc - you’ll be declaring him a ‘20 year old kid’ who we shouldn’t expect more than a handful of goals from.
Spot on. People have misaligned expectations for the kid and when they don't get met they'll be disappointed.

Some people genuinely believe he is already that good hence why you see posts confidently claiming that he's better than a list of already proven PL strikers playing for top teams. They think the kid will just walk in and bang them goals at an elite rate.

I've been trying my best to remind folks to tamper their expectations so it doesn't lead to uncalled outrages when he doesn't automatically turn out into what we want him to be. I've watched several of his full clips(clips with all his touches and not just highlights) and the kid is talented but raw. He's got pace, strength, can run the channels but his game isn't quite there where he'd come in the PL and perform at the level some are expecting him to in his first season.

I've already said this, he'll be a much better player toward the end of the season than he currently is.
This thread is off the rails in terms of expectations, honestly the longer we don't see him play the more unrealistic people expectations will get. He's a prospect but a very raw player from what I gather based on those clips I've seen. I also think he will have rough season because he seems to rely a lot on his physicality to get past defenders and play back to goal.

It's very likely all those strikers mentioned are better than Hojlund currently, but that is not why we bought him.
