If there's an official announcement in the coming weeks of an outright sale I think the celebrations outside Old Trafford will be like the treble season.

The team doing worse is potentially a good thing in the short term.

Nah it's 2023. The party will get started, only for a 'checking ownership decision pending' announcement when some government goon steps in and deflates everyone. Cue more weeks of anguish as some dope tries to draw some lines. By the time it finally goes through the cheese and pineapple on sticks will have gone bad, the beer warmed up and everyone will be feeling a bit sheepish.

This will get ugly if this comes to fruition

Surely this just strengthens Qatar now as the Glazers would make a whole crap ton of money and be free of any more financial liability in respect to the stadium repairs etc.
Can't see this going anywhere, Jims looked at his options and realises that he's pretty screwed

just when you think things couldnt get worse, a new rumor comes out. only thing missing is announcer the glazer family is personally taking over the transfer department/scouting network.

I don't know that this is the case. It's been quite clear from the off that the Glazers (At least Joel and Avram) want to stay if at all possible. It's also been widely reported that part of the reason for this is they believe they can get even more money further down the road, and Qatar seems unwilling as of yet to even reach their current valuation.

Just to be transparent I wanted Ratcliffe over SJ, however this was in the case of fully buying the club. If Ratcliffe's only method now is to buy a minority stake with the Glazers still onboard and making decisions then I no longer support this bid and throw my weight behind the SJ bid, as I'm willing to bet a lot of people will.

I can only imagine the carnage that would occur if this actually did happen. It's all well and good the Glazers believing they can get more money in the future, but with the state of everything right now, surely the only way the value is going to go is down? I could be, and likely am, wrong, but if 4 of the 6 Glazers want out, how is this offer going to benefit them? I've no idea, but i just don't see this happening. Thats just my opinion though, it just seems a bit stupid for INEOS to put all this money into a minor stake when they get pretty much nothing out of itas the Glazers would still be calling the shots to a huge degree.

Super League. The Glazer brothers believe it's inevitable, and if they're right, the sky's the limit for the club's valuation.

I'm pretty sure the Super League is dead and buried for the forseeable to mid future, if ever really. I just don't see it happening

And then there was one.

Big step towards Qatar winning the auction when their only rival bid withdraws from the running.

Great news for those who want Jassim taking over. If Ratcliffe puts a minority offer in, Qatar wont allow that shit to go down. Hope this gets moving now.

I don't see it happening anytime soon either, but apparently that's Joel & Avram's mindset and why they'd prefer to stay on.

Nah they wanted investment all along. Jim offers maybe 1.5-2bn for 25% and everyone's happy. Except the whole fanbase.
The money will go solely into the Glazer pockets, not the club. None of it will be seen by the club, none of it will be used to clear debts.

Luckily for us one thing they have proven to everyone is they don't know shit and them believing in something most likely means it's going to fall on its face and screw up badly.

stock not reflecting what your thinking is.
Shareholders are probably terrified of the alternative that may be coming...

I just don't see it happening though, as i say, would INEOS really put that much money into lining the Glazers pockets even more with the state of everything, knowing the Glazers won't spend a penny on the club and they'd have very little say in the running?

I don’t think you understand the implications of what you are suggesting.

Are you saying that the Glazers are going to sell 25% of their shares and invest it back into the club as capital? Doesn’t seem likely when you consider that most of them want to sell and exit.

Or are you saying that the Glazers will issue more shares to the value of 25% of the club, thus diluting their own shareholdings in order to raise capital for the club? Doesn’t seem very likely either.

I think the delay is precisely for this reason. Glazers are looking for this way out without any legal repercussions.

There needs to be massive protest to stop this from happening.

That’s the bit that never adds up, the Glazers won’t sell shares without getting the proceeds so what does SJR gain as he just owns 25% of a failing football club still run by the same idiots. It’s not like they can be trusted or will be easy to deal with if he wanted to acquire more over time either.

Everyones happy? Pretty sure those 4 who want out and won't see remotely as much money as they would through a full sale won't be too happy.

Unless Jim is going to buy out the 4 Glazers who want out, but again that probably won't happen either.

All sounds very convoluted and the worst of outcomes.

So:
  • Minority shareholding of 25%
  • Buying some class A from the stock market
  • Buying some class B
Therefore
  • Keeps Glazers in control
  • Class A – is he trying to buy off some troublemaking groups – but will the others left behind not complain/resist - it has all come through the clubs financial review ?
  • The class B, sold, will convert to class A

And if they do take 25% minority “investment” and decide to pocket it, good luck explaining to the shareholders that their final strategic decision was to sell their own stock and invest none of the proceeds back into the club.
