Ah see, I’m not just a pretty face, seriously though something has to happen either way, very soon because they have to let the NYSE know what’s going on!
IIRC, they have be up to 45 days from the end of the reporting period to release the results or else their listing on the exchange might be in danger.

Shit like the below is what would explain the delay.

The fecks are probably dreaming of dollar signs given the money the Saudis have invested already.

They probably need to at least comment on the strategic review in the Annual Report. Might be what’s taking the time, but easy enough to bluff I would have thought - unless the non Glazer Directors won’t sign up for it.

4 Saudi teams will all of a sudden be allowed in a 40 team revamped CL money talks.

Sheikh Jassim really cranking up the PR campaign to apply pressure on Glazers to make decision?
Former legends mean diddly to the Glazers. They likely don't even know who Beckham is and care even less.

Other legends prone to the shill would be both Nevilles, Zlatan, Yorke, Giggsy, Rooney and a few others, but Eric Cantona would likely be out as he criticised their World Cup.

Up to the glazers, though.

Who would actually be interested in this? Seems like it would generate as little interest as a pre season tournament. When would it even be played?

The CL is the one competition where a replacement. The prestige associated with it far surpasses any other competition in football, most importantly for the players.

Beckham is one of Utds great number 7s, a major cog in that great team of '99 and personally would love to see him back at the club in some description.
Didn't loads of people on here post Ole that former players need to stay away from the club for a bit?

Aside from seemingly becoming a poster boy for sportswashing, how is Beckham in anyway remotely qualified to have a meaningful role at the club?

well he literally OWNS a club so I’d say he probably has a small insight. I’d have him as CEO or face of a new regime for sure. At least he’d be working in the best interests of the club being a fan.

He'd be working for Qatar, not United.

We don't need David Beckham to sell United. It's a good idea for the Qataris to use legends as a distraction al the same, but it is rather transparent.

Are you a recent fan?:rolleyes:

Do you not know what Becks has been up to? Or you were always more interested in his missus?

Inter Miami have just failed to score a play-off place in their Eastern Conference MLS season.

They are more interested in marquee signings like Messi (who seemed truly devastated IM's season came to naught, oh yes) and hiring Beckham's close personal friends to senior positions, which he has had to embarrassingly slide back on.

Of course, Beckham and the other legends will have no role at Qatar's United past telling the media how great a guy Jassim is, purporting the 'it's not a state bid' lie and what a top country Qatar happens to be. All for a good cut.

Those of you thinking Inter Miami as proof of Beckham's credentials are playing yourselves.

Ye I'd be happy to have Beckham back invovled at the club - he has better credentials than Woodward but I suppose that's a low bar

Erm... no

He was a fantastic player but I'm not sure what relevance this has.

The general consensus post Ole was that we need to move away from giving ex players roles within the club unless they are qualified to do something.

There was mega thread on here when Phil Jones did a bit of coaching with the academy. Not sure why Beckham finding his way to any role within should be met with any less scepticism.

By that logic, let's get Phil Neville back in as a coach because he has recently coached a bit in the MLS.

There's nothing in Beckham's career history which would suggest that he has the skills to thrive in any meaningful role at the club, which everyone agrees needs huge structural and cultural changes.

What are you even trying to say? You’ve made up some non defined role for Beckham not to be qualified for despite this made up role not having any tasks or boundaries in any way.
He’s joint owner of a major soccer club in the states that is now talked about around the world. He’s qualified for some of fecking role at United. Him being good at it is a different matter

Van Der Sar did a Master's Degree in Sports and Brand Management, then did 4 years at Marketing Director before taking the CEO role.

Beckham has no formal experience or qualifications.

He is an owner of Miami thanks to his MLS deal.
But owner of a MLS side is experience

It is, but what is he doing day to day in that role? Yes, he is one of the owners, but apart from picking the pink goal nets, what is he doing?

A CEO has a massive remit. He is clearly not a business executive.

He said himself on the documentary that he isn't the brightest.

If Qatar are saying they are going to give Beckham a role that is anymore than ambassadorial, then that is a red flag.

There's a lot of noise right now after the Beckham interview. Is he really going to do the "we'll see ..." bit if there isnt something going on? Especially since the Qataris look like absolute mugs if they dont get it. You wouldnt think Beckham would poke the bear, and if they arent confident in taking us over.

He’s an owner who helped build a club from the ground up to the point they signed the greatest player who ever lived. An owner is above the CEO. You can’t get any better formal experience than that and I’m not even saying Beckham should be offered the role.
Top clubs aren’t Looking at VDS and asking about his qualifications from dingleberry university, they’ll be looking at his results at Ajax, what he did wrong and what he did correctly and they’ll do the same with Beckham for whatever role might be offered to him
VDS went from marketing director at Ajax to CEO in 4 years. Say what you want about Beckham but owning a club is a lot more relevant to the CEO position than a candidates experience as a marketing director.
