What an absolute feck up. Part of me wants to be done with this club. The glazers have ruined the history and legacy of United for their own greed. Never thought I’d say it but I’m embarrassed to be a United fan.

The cost of non-performance on the pitch just got so much higher. We literally cannot afford down seasons anymore. Can't afford more empty transfer windows either. Every pence spent has to be justified by immediate results if we want to have any chance of competing with the real big boys of European football now.

I've always said I wouldn't enjoy the inevitable meltdown if Ratcliffe won this race but some of the posts here make it very difficult not to poke a little fun at the posters.

If I can help offer some comfort for those posters and their doomsday level predictions. You're record on predictions stands at 100% wrong so if nothing else gives you a slither of hope to cling onto, it should be that.

What INEOS takeover? Jim isn't getting 1% more of the club in his lifetime.
The agreement is a staged takeover that starts with 25% and to take over fully in 3 years. It would likely not be some loose promise but contractual clauses at certain points to be triggered.

There's no evidence that we would have won any whilst being a state sponsored sport washing project.
No but in a game of percentages there’s a much better chance. Jim can’t even get Nice into Europe in a 1 club league in France and doesn’t have the cash needed to take the club forward

I guess the question is, what voting rights is Jim buying? If I’m not mistaken, glazers had all the voting rights and 25% shares were on the NYSE. So now Glazers presumably have 2/3 voting rights and Jim the remainder?
Essentially, The Glazers have all the voting rights because the class B shares they own have 10x the vote power of the class A shares. Rules are written to state that only Glazers can ever own a class B share. Once sold, a class B share downgrades to a class A share, thus reducing voting rights.

So unless there is some changes in how this all works, he wont have any real voting influence.

If Jim is looking to gain control, it will be interesting to see how this works, because if Avram and Joel keep all their class B shares and Jim hoovers up the rest, Avram and Joel will still have the majority vote.

I thought the rumor was they'd transfer it onto themselves, essentially clearing the clubs name?
The info in my post I read the other day somewhere (on here maybe?).
Hopefully it would be transferred.

Ratcliffe is being put over a barrel.
He's doing what is required to buy the club. The Glazers own it. They set the price. People can cry about it, but the Glazers don't give a feck about who is bidding or what promises they make. They want to see the written offers. Ratcliffes quite simply valued the club at a higher price point than Qatar and their supposed endless riches.

Do we have any news from Ineos on what will happen in 4-5 years if Ratcliffe is dead and the club still isn't under full ownership?

Will they want to cough up the rest without him? I bet not.

I give up. I get that people may not want Qatar becasue of human rights and that buy Qatar was the only option to get rid of the Glazers. Im fed up, i dont think we will ever fight for trophies under the Glazers. I think its time to withdraw and spend time on something more productive than cherring Glazier FC

I mean considering the news just coming out now that broke boy Ratcliffe - whilst only getting a minority stake to begin with - will be taking over in the long run because he met the Glazers valuation so clearly he wanted United more than Qatar, it’s as simple as that really. For clarity i wanted neither but not like we have much choice
I asked you simple question, wich you've avoided to answer. I don't know what you want from this exchange - this is circular with subtle goalposts moving - at no point was I talking about who "wants x more". Someone made an assertion I find comical - if I bid above the value of something and stay in the process for months, for people to then surmise I didn't want it, all because I have money - defies all logical reasoning - which, again, was the only thing I questioned - and you interjected as if to validate the initial assertion. I don't much care to change the mind of people who think like this, because to me it is a losing battle so I left it at "fair enough". I don't understand what this has morphed into

1. Glazers have made some dubious decisions in the last 10 years. From the Ed Woodward control, to signing off below par managers, to rubber stamping huge cash outlay in signings and contracts etc.

How come people now believe they decision not to sell the club is the wise decision they have ever made in the last 10 years.

The strategic review, was primarily to push the club into a new investment frontier, how comes 1 year later supposedly with a minority sale to be sanctioned, we can't tell if new investments to the club will be made.

It looks like the strategic review, was a way for Glazers to get more money for themselves using United as a invisible 'Red Mercury' product.

Glazers have really blindsided us. Incredible.

Of course it is. 70 year old man isn't investing to make a profit if and when a bigger fish comes in a buys the whole club for 10+bil. He wants to come in, take control and be lorded as the man who saved Man United.

If he wanted to make a profit, he would continue to do what has already made him the richest man in England.
shh don't speak sense for the love of God.

INEOS/Jim are not messing about, there will 100% stuff in place contractually to e sure United becomes 100% INEOS owned, nothing else makes sense.

The glazers are out, just when is the question.

Only if they can earn a fortune further down the line would be my guess.

I wonder what this will do for the share price? Not just immediate market reaction but long term. I wonder if the markets will back Jim or think like the majority do on here, that he won’t achieve anything.

Ha! I'd resigned myself to this not happening some time ago - still disappointed to hear the news

At the same time, I'd not be surprised to see a Sir Jim bid fall apart and Sheikh Jassim still reappear in the future

All very sad for the future of the club anyway

The one I read was from months ago, so no idea, haven't paid much attention.

Ultimately none of us really know. Actions make a difference, and what is clear is that Ratcliffe was desperate to buy the club whereas Jassim wasn't doing much more than empty promises. What use is a promise of 1 bln here or there if your offer to buy the club isn't as much as the other person?

The Glazers are going to line their own pockets with the funds for this 25% bid. Finance any minor stadium refurb with more debt on the club. And they will still be the majority owners in 5 years time.

Ineos meanwhile wont provide extra investment in an asset they dont even own.

Doesn't matter if you bet not, if they sign it now it's done..

There is 3 of them, and I'd like to assume that all 3 are on board.

I’m absolutely done with the club, I swore I would never go to OT whilst these leeches were in control, and I saw a glimmer of hope that i would be able to take my son as he has never been. That hope has now gone, I’ll keep the good memories that I still have as this club has no soul. This is not the club that I grew up with and supported for 45 years.
What on earth are you on about?

The club you have supported for 45 years has consistently had a support that has fought against people like Jassim/the Qatari state buying the club.

Many remnants of the club's soul vanished post 2005 but not enough people cared because we were still winning and doing OK on the pitch. The fact that people have only started paying attention once there was a chance that we get taken over by a state sponsored billionaire says more about them than anyone else.

Will this guy invest?
It's been reported that Ineos will be allowed to invest in the club immediately with full control over where that investment goes. I don't believe there's actually been confirmation that they will invest however.

Looks like Qatari are pumping up the fans, to show them what they are missing0. :D.

If they had all these big plans for the club why couldn’t they just bid a bit more to actually buy the club. I never believe these promises, it’s an easy way to get the fans on board.

Exactly. Regardless of what you might think of Ratcliffe, the Qataris failed. Either they were skint, or they fecked themselves politically.

Just curious but just read the tweet in another thread where Romano says Sheikh Jassim is ready to withdraw. Has he actually fully withdrawn then?

Why do you believe this? Every report that's come out recently says the opposite.

This is pathetic, but I would be lying if I said I wasn't enjoying the meltdown. :D
I’m not melting down I will always support my club through glory and downfall, it’s simply another chapter in our illustrious history but I can’t wait to see all Sir Jim’s supporters turn on him in the next 2-3 years ?

Probably because they did multiple times and the Glazers do not actually want a full sale

I’m trying to find a positive in Sir Jim and there’s none.

We don’t deserve good things.

Well at least we have movement of some sort.

For those more knowledgeable than myself, will big Jim be able to influence things right now, or are we still being led by the glazers direction? Or is it too early to know?

Am I missing something with all the 40/50/60 year supporters claiming this isn't the club they grew up with?

Those periods would include a long, baron period, including a relegation. Have at no point seen the club or fanbase desperate for shady investment, in fact involved numerous large scale protests against such potential owners.

The club today, because of things like the fanbase wanting unpalatable owners is the difference. Because of people like the Glazers, because of clubs like City and Newcastle destroying the game. Not because we've not ended up under Qatari control for god sake.

Jesus people.

Sorry pal, Ratcliffe is going to have to pay a massive premium to get overall control. If Qatar can’t do it I doubt Jim can. I also have serious doubts he can get his 25% deal over the line. We are stuffed at this point. A strategic review to find much needed investment for the club has ended in this shambles, with no investment for the club.
Of course, he has to pay a premium - both Qatar 100% and Jim's initial 69% bid valued the shares at circa $40 each, which is double todays value.

All this is quite simple. It boils down to the fact that Avram and Joel Glazer want to stay and the other siblings and minority investors want out.
Jim and Ineos were they only ones that would alow Avram and Joel to stay.

Why do Avram and Joel want to stay? Because they suspect that in the future their % of the club will be worth more, so would rather hold out. What will be interesting, is how they intend to cash out in future and to who?

The Ineos and Qatar bid will work out to be very similar in terms of $ per share. Only difference will be the % each will take.

That was the wording of the first tweet from Romano I think, him, the BBC and others are now using the language that Jassim has withdrawn from the process rather than just 'ready to'.

Or Glazers did not want 100% sale

Didn’t know about the downgrading bit. Not exactly great news!
