Jim has little interest in United as a football club imo. Wants the prestige and hence he was ready to go to hed with the devil. We will continue like we have under the Glazers, dont do the necessary investment and most likely have even more issues in our ownership structure

Because the Glazers believe that the club will be worth more in a few years if a few specific things happens. (Most likely primarily the Saudi involvement in football transforming European high-level football into a more profitable venture. Similar to PGA/LIV that happened in golf.)
But the club also depends on further investment happening now, so they need someone to come in now, even if there's a chance it'll all be worth more later.

I have intimate knowledge of another company (not football related) currently being sold in a similar situation.
The company is desperate for a cash injection, but current owners believe there is bigger value to the company based on certain things in motion. So the company is getting another investor essentially buying control of the company, but the final price to the current owners depend on if certain things pan out or not in the next year(s).
Which could mean that Jim'll plow enough cash into United to make it work. Here's hoping anyway.

Newcastle successful  . 1927 last league title, 1955 last fa cup, zero European success, haven’t even had a charity while for 114 years. What are you smoking?
Think his point was more they care about success

I wish his disciples could see that too

The Athletic article is a good read. As ever the devil will be in the details. Once Ratcliffe can speak publicly (after the board ratify?) we should be able to see the exact terms and conditions, and hopefully the timeframe for buying majority control.

We don't know anything at the moment.
As you say the devil is in the details, I await the full plan ahead before casting any judgement

I would urge both camps Despondent and disappointed supporters who wanted Qatar and Elated Sir Ratcliffe Supporters to step back and wait for actual details of the this deal to come out before losing their shit or pop up the champagne .

Just keep an open mind if the actual details are similar to what's being reported then it's actually a good deal as the end game was to get rid of Glazer's but if it's any thing else then Glazers have played a blinder and taken Micky out of Ratcliffe but I highly doubt that would be the case .

I am more than certain Ratcliffe team must have iron clad clauses to get majority control eventually .

Quality control
Jim won't announce his plans after midnight on the weekend, so we might as well all take a break from this topic for the time being.

What happened now is the club informed Jassim that they intend to go with Jim, allowing Jassim to graciously withdraw his offer instead of technically losing out. Then the bid from Jim needs to be ratified in a board meeting before Jim can even consider speaking publicly about his plans for the club.

Even then I bet he will hold a lot of cards close to his chest, plans with Ineos towards Glazers that either can't be made public due to NDA's or doesn't make sense to make public before they are actioned on.
Put your cards on the table rat and quit hiding behind NDA's now you have won the race

Jimmy boy as you call him doesn't have a choice, he can only dance to the tune the glazers play.

Had Jassim come at this with flexibility and options he'd have got further... Ratcliffe is doing whatever he can to get his foot in the door.

The Glazers simply put are too split so the option of a full sale imo was never an option, the only way was the way we're heading.
The glazers don’t want to sell because they believe it will be worth more in so many years. That’s why. This isn’t a footballing project for them and never has been, it’s exactly the same as when fergie left it. It’s literally falling apart at the seems. 0 has changed except we have got further away and allowed every other fecker to catch us up. Jassim understood the assignment. Feck off out of the club and let me sort your mess. 1.5billion in investment pledged. That’s a state of the art stadium outright. What’s SJR going to do with his 25%? Wait another 3 years to own 50%? Then what? What’s he going to do with 50% wait another 3 years for another 25? Then what? Honestly what’s he going to do to bring this club back from the brink? Put Manchester back into it? What does that mean? Is he going to get stone roses to perform at old Trafford while sporting a bowl cut? Or blast happy Mondays pre-match while shaking a merraca? What is that? How does putting Manchester back into the club show his ambition? Pledge investment into a new stadium, training facilities, players. Then we’ll listen.

City will have another 6 PL titles and 2 champions leagues by that point.

what’s happening at this club is a farce. A disgrace and these owners should never of been allowed to get their hands on this club with their leveraged buy out in the first place. So yeah he can feck off with his dance with the glazers.

Excellent post. All I can add is great to see the back of Quatari bidder. Hopefully it’s true. Hopefully this leads to a bright future for the club. Hopefully.

If the deal would include clauses for majority ownership on future date then those details would definitely become public .

I think he may have been making the point that vast quantities of cash doesn't always correlate with success.

This is going to be voted on this week apparently. Jim better get some sort of plan out to the media/fans because as it stands this bid looks like a complete disaster.
Nah he will go to ground until things calm

Wonder which PL club they'll buy instead?

On us, the Glazers are here to stay. This was the only option that was a clean exit.

A minority, or a minority to majority, will be more drawn out and protracted then this process.
Spurs? London based, amazing ground, up and coming young squad with a fantastic manager, pretty much everything we're not.

Good post, it's better to wait for actual details rather than believing somehow SJR is so stupid to be a yes man for Glazers by playing 1.5 billion.

Will be interesting to see if Glazers takes dividends now, if they take, will SJR too?. Or will there will be some discussion not to take money out of the club considering the position we are in.

All those pining for Qatar should just go and support City. Seriously.
When are you Ratcliffe supporters gonna realise it wasn't about state ownership it was clearing the debt, investment in players, training ground, stadium and women's team that was the attraction of bid but hopes are now dead

Yeah the end is nigh for us and they will be taking our spot at the top table from now on
I keep thinking you're joking, but you're serious.

We'd never even heard of this Jassim character until a year ago, but now we're finished as a football club because he didn't do enough to buy us? Please calm down.

Spurs could be a HUGE club with Jassim’s backing.

Stadium, big fanbase, exciting manager, good young squad.

That’d be my guess.

Oh, you’re saying the state ownership is NOT what attracts people, it’s the success it buys? That’s certainly a big difference to City supporters then who we all know never cared for getting the best managers in or changing mediocre players for elite players and scouting. All they ever wanted was state ownership and that would have been enough for them.

We could have had the debt cleared. £2b for the stadium and training ground. The glazers out.

Now we have a guy who failed to buy Chelsea, failed to buy Barcelona, has failed with Nice FC. Has lowered his bid to accommodate the Glazers. Is using debt to buy 25%…

Feel gutted.
You need to add a Glazer-enabler to that list

The certainty that Jassim (Qatar) are complete football experts, whilst big Jim is going to pay over a billion to just sit there and continue the rot, is astounding.

Not the absolute best outcome, but definitely a step in the right direction.

But it’s all irrelevant if you aren’t able to actually do a deal with the owners. The Qatari bid couldn’t clear the first hurdle, they were just PR and not enough substance.

If the Qatari’s desperately wanted the club they’d have bought it.

Are we sure its even state state-funded bid headed by Jassim now? Surely if it was state-funded, it would have blown any bid away? Clearly there were financial/business model limits to a Jassim bid.
