Would take a draw if offered now. Would be delighted If Man United can win this evening.

Expectation to be honest is Newcastle to win by a minimal 2 goal margin so hopefully I'm surprised..

Last thing they needed after a long trip back from Turkey.
A few hours sat in a coach? I'm sure they'll be fine.

If Onana puts in a decent performance, nothing more than decent is all I’m asking, we’ll beat these fukks.

Surprised you didn't just go up last night, do premier league teams normally travel in on the day as thought that was just for local derbies?

Football really is nuts. I was gutted after the game on weds and insisted I wouldn’t want to watch tonight’s game and who knew, I’m kind of looking forward to it

This is a funny game in many ways. Win and it’s hard to not see things as really beginning to start to come together (league form) and lose and it looks like we are back to square one of crisis.

Id take a draw , I’m concerned about Onanas mental state. I’d be very impressed if he can recover quickly from the Gala game. Hope he proves all doubters wrong.

I also hope Garnacho starts over Rashford and like most would like to see Mainoo start aswell. My concern is that few managers would willingly choose younger (and probably inconsistent) players in tough away grounds.

A goal for Hoijland would equally be nice. No VAR sh*t would also be a nice change.

Doesn't matter how many injuries they have (we still have a fair few missing ourselves anyway) we are getting a beating tonight. Doesn't matter if we've "turned a corner", they are simply a much better side than us. Most importantly is that they run their socks off for each other so no matter who they have available they have the first ingredient to being a great side worked out. I see a bad couple of weeks for us to be honest, tonight will likely be 4 or 5, Chelsea will put at least a 2 goal defeat on us and I genuinely wouldn't be surprised if Liverpool get close or beyond 7. We are simply a quite awful team.

Guimares, Gordon, Isak and almiron will run rings around our defense. Toon crowd will be wild, there's only 1 winner here.

    1-3 Man utd.

The main question is where we can match their intensity. Newcastle tend to put in so much into these sort of games and we usually struggle with that. That’s my biggest concern more than defensive lapses which are I suppose the norm this season.

Yes I was also a bit surprised about that. Zero margin for travel disturbances. But I guess with all matches going on they want the players to be able to spend time with their families as well.

Think Liverpool are the only team who's won up there in the last 18 months or something ridiculous.

Even with half their team missing they've still beaten Arsenal and completely schooled Chelsea in their last two home games. And completely exposed our high defensive line on the opening day.

Isak v Maguire/Lindelof is one area they can exploit.

They will score a couple if you give up some of the chances you gave Everton last week. This is obviously a game for likes of Wan Bisakka to shut down Gordon/Almiron.

Why are they flying there anyway the lazy shites! Just fecking walk
Landed in Manchester around 4 am Thursday morning from Turkey. Didn’t even have time to travel up the day before, as would be normal. Bad enough having to travel on day of the match, but now, by road, is awful prep for the game.

Only landed at 4 am Thursday from Turkey. No chance of going up on Friday.
It always surprises me teams just don't fly back from longer european fixtures the next morning.

Can still do warm down/prep in the afternoon and then a full training session on the Friday before travelling up.

Was there issues getting away from Istanbul. If you'd kicked off at 8pm you wouldn't have got back until 6am?

Not really. It took us in top form last season to beat them.

The other occasions in PL, even when we had a mistake free in defense, we failed to beat them at home, and got beaten at their ground.

Unless there is new injury, their staring XI from PSG is plenty of strong. We're not exactly strong ourselves. Don't let Galatasaray performance deceive us. We saw in the League Cup game that Newcastle weakened team is arguably better than Galatasaray.

I think we’re going to win and do so comfortably. Our league form is on the up despite the horror show in Europe.

Team travelling my coach. We’ll be very tired. Crazy weather. Happy with a draw. There will little energy today. Expecting a shit performance.

Local fan base always have idiots. It's nothing surprising that teams want to leave ASAP to prevent hooligans, ultra, some drunk, angry fans to mess up their night rest after the games.

Expecting a loss but will be delighted with a win. Get behind your team and lets get them fighting for victory.

a win will make the weekend, a loss will be like, oh well was predictable.

Newcastle are a physically strong team so fully expecting them to dominate. Can sadly see a 3-0 loss

I have a feeling that we will win. I think we will win. Newcastle have a v thin squad right now and that will begin to translate to performances and results. The main thing though, is we have no pressure on us, which is a reality really, not something to be pleased with.. so the players should feel liberated somewhat. And, I think we will have no choice but play on the counter because Newcastle will come right us, like they do to all sides. This will suit us.

I actually would be more worried if we were at home, as crazy as that may sound.

Agreed but what can one say about this place..

A win for Man United and the post match thread will have plenty down playing it while a predictable loss and that thread will be hopping with about 10 pages in an hour with mostly doom and gloom posts and ultra negative views.

It's 3hrs on a bus. Yeah the flight is 30 mins but that doesn't factor in everything else. They won't be landing at the stadium either so it's not a huge difference really. This is being overblown to a hilarious degree.

Maybe we can have our own "brad friedel" performance from a debutant goalie. I know he wont but you'd think ETH would want Onana to feel a bit of pressure

You can't complain about that then. When a prediction about us coming undone against tougher opposition hypothetically become true like that, bundled with our poor record away from home to tougher opposition as well as this season struggling against top half sides; it's clearly logical and convincing argument. Hypothetically countering the false hope/ wishful thinking basing of good form where we mostly played against bottom half teams and/or relegation battlers. The rest of our first half fixture of the season is consisted of mostly tougher teams with Bayern game in the mix too.

The point is this place will be more vocal with a defeat predictable defeat or not

In comparison to which other forums? RAWK moderators heavy handedly stop the "reasonable" negative in check, doesn't stop some classic meltdowns. City hardly has a strong and variety fanbass, yet their BlueMoon forum often went to meltdown on some minor crisis. Same with ArsenalMania with ArsenalFamTV influence and few of Tottenham forums.

Nothing is absolute perfect, but this forum is running strong even for opposition fans here for a reason. IMO this forum is doing well and reasonable enough in its diverse opinion on football discussion. There would be no escaping some hyperbolic, ultra view, OTT, short sighted opinions too; but overall this is very normal reasonable forum.

Writing poems, bias favorable comparison, alternative league table, wishful thinking of next year being better year... is more worrying mental sign for a forum/fan base in the midst of underperforming good for nothing period, than reasonable venting.
