Very exciting and hugely promising along with the Ashworth, Mitchell idea.
Hard to imagine how different the club will be in a years time.
If true, Blanc, Ashworth and possibly a new Head of Recruitment is an enormous upgrade on what we’ve had since Gill and SAF left. Wouldn’t guarantee anything but it’s competent, qualified people in key roles and not bankers or over promoted yes men.
It would suggest a complete change of direction as you aren’t getting people of that status to accept the jobs (or stick around) if they are just going to be another Murtough or have to default everything to Joel Glazer.

Not with regard to Blanc no - not really sure what good there is to say about him. He's got more than zero years of experience as a footballing CEO I suppose, which puts him ahead of our last two choices.
Good things are on the horizon, and none of it is due to the Glazers - who only instigated this process because they have led the club up a creek financially and needed bailing out, and saw an opportunity to futher line their own pockets.

Became PSG CEO after Juve, so would have helped build their first (and best,imo) good team with Thiago Silva, Ibra, Cavani, Thiago Motta etc. Did wonders for their marketing with the Jordan deal. Clearly lots of experience. What's not to like?
If that happens, great and “if” we get Asworth from Newcastle that, to me, would be a massive statement of intent and negotiating.
This is what the club has needed, structural change with the right individuals is more influential than having a large amount of excess capital to spend. Hopefully this has substance.

Mitchell is best as a Head Of Recruitment so bringing him in as that then bringing in Ashworth or even Edwards as Sporting Director makes perfect sense and everyone in their best role.

I have a WBA mate from my university days who years ago sung the praises of Ashworth (way before a wider audience were aware of him) and said Ashworth was a very key figure in them being a stable mid table PL club and getting out of that yo-yo promotion/relegation phase they had.
Think there’s quite a reliable Newcastle journo has said that they’re expecting him to leave, think he also has ties to Brailsford.
the 3 of them together would be the best decisions the club have made in a decade, promising if it comes through.

Hired great people which made them the best academy in the West Midlands. Then eventually Villa came and brought the main guy. Now Villa are doing great things with the youth.
