Pogba's best games were likely during big matches against City, Chelsea and Arsenal.
This is true….If you look at the amount of games in the performance threads where the team struggled against City and Pogba was the only player who performed. It was a regular occurrence but often the result was negative. Against Chelsea and Arsenal he was very regularly excellent in games we controlled and won with an ease we have struggled to find since.

Not off the top of my head. Are you thinking of a specific fixture?
Nearly all of them and not just big games. He was part of the United teams that could not be good for more than a half under Ole and he was big contributor to this tendency. How many of his productive games are overall bad games with a moment of quality that leads to a goal, most?

It’s clear, is it?

Go to Fbref and compare Bruno and Odegaard’s stats from this season. Then take a moment to think about the respective quality of the team mates they’re linking up with.
Why only with Odegaard? The other poster mentioned a few other players, why not compare him to those as well? Probably it would paint a different picture wouldn't it? I would agree though, I think, he hasn't been as bad as he has been made in this thread. The polarization is big on the guy, happens on both sides - I think calling his performance against Westham good or decent is more than generous. Calling him awful is more than harsh. Obviously it is tricky to come up with a system that covers many peoples view on something but the fire isn't going away when it is fueled every week.

Beg to differ, whats different...and Im not talking about price. Im talking about the type of signing. Both can look get individually but not benefit the team. Both rarely turn up in big matches too.
I think, this is a fair observation. I think, it was more clear with Pogba and Brunos effort level do a lot to prevent reaching this conclusion but after all, I agree, those players probably emerged 15 years too late. They would have been superstars earlier on in times of Zidane or Ronaldinho. But now in times of collective maximization they seem hard to integrate. Or at harder than most their peers. And the benefits of this extra effort aren't obvious.

Ok, yeah. Both Pogba and Bruno have been part of Manchester United teams that only very rarely put in a good 90 minute performance. That’s true.

However my point was about one specific Pogba “big game performance” which gets talked about as being his best ever for United.

Maybe the very game you’re speaking about? He was mediocre at best first half or perhaps the 6-3 hammering? The 4-1 hammering at City in 21? 0-2 v City wher he was involved in us conceding in the first ten mins? Or do these not count because he was dire for the full 90? Or the 0-3 hammering this season or maybe 7-0 v Liverpool and his behaviour in that game? How about the 4-0 against Liverpool, the 0-5 ? or the 3-1 v Arsenal where he single handedly cost us the game and any chance at top four by missing a pen and losing the ball on the edge of his own box for 3-1?

That’s off the top of my head….I could search the threads and find more

Pogba was generally shit against Liverpool every season (or injured), but I remember many performances where he shined against Spurs and Arsenal and even City etc... can't say the same about Bruno. Like it's not even close

Can only remember one good performance from Pogba against Liverpool and that was in a 0-0 away. Had some disasters against them. Chelsea he had a lot of good games against too.

That value is derived of what popular opinion in the footballing world is of him. People think Bruno is one of the best midfielders in the world thus we’d get a great fee for a 30 year old that we can’t build around. It’s just good business
and what is the basis for this “popular opinion”? Not based on his performances?

I hate Bruno as a footballer but this kind of scrutiny is too much

Was both frustrating and equally brilliant at times. I just can't stand his personality, but his long passing was electric at times today.

We sadly don't have the foresight to see what an opportune time it will be to sell him this upcoming European summer. He's at his peak, has 2 seasons left on his contract after this one and I'm sure he'll have a great Euros.
Edit:
He'll also just run himself into the ground, sell now whilst his legs are still fresh.

I thought he stood up big time at 2-0 down. Kept his cool. Kept creating. Got the rewards eventually.

It’s a shame he has the teenage petulance about him as it overshadows what a fabulous, hard working player he is

That yellow card. Am I the only one who thinks it was absolutely insane?

Without him no chance we win tonight after the 0-2.

He makes things happen either with his passing or with his tenacious pressing all over the pitch. Led the way for the rest of the team to press more aggressive and force the mistake to get the ball back (instead of zombie watching).

Typical good to very good performance of the last few weeks. With a typical level of petulance too. But because we won I guarantee there’ll be a hell of a lot less negativity about his overall contribution.
BUT WHAT ABOUT HIS PASS COMPLETION??!!!!!

Played where he should be positioned and looked.miles better. Hopefully this is the end of McTominay playing in his position.

Bruno's been stellar almost all season for me. People are stuck in the past with his negativity. I guess it doesn't help that talksport don't actually watch games and claim it every single week relentlessly. But sure his goals/assists are way down, but he's continually creating openings, and is a serious workhorse.

Only one deserving of the armband.

Ideal player for this kind of games, made some crucial passes to put Garnacho and Rashford for good runs and had very good game, but at the same time lost some ridiculously pointless passes that better teams would exploit, as they do quite often against us. Nothing new.

I am probably sure referees hate his moaning, can't really blame them.

Perfect game for him in terms of his passing-it was absolutely made for him. Workrate was top class.

Just checking: Is Bruno still the cause of our problems and in desperate need of dropping..? :p

He had an absolutely excellent game. Some fantastic forward passes, great vision. He thrives in this kind of games. He has a very high work rate and this game intensity only makes him better. He was tracking back, pressing opponents, full of energy. Great game captain!

First goal came from his pressing and then the ball to Rashford. Didn't stop running at full speed even in the 93rd minute. His flaws are evident, but that effort is always world class.

He such a temperamental player. He either can't get a single thing right or he creates 50 chances in a row

He needs some meditation to stabilise that inner chaos

I 100% still think so. He was good in the second half, fair play. But these were conditions we're almost never ever allowed.

Indeed, against that notoriously easy to play against Emery Villa team. I am sure once we come up against tougher opponents he'll get shown up...

He's capable of those games. Don't get carried away and expect it to happen week in week out, we still won't compete for anything big with him in the team.

Did you see how many fast breaks we got today? In what world is that normal.
