If he is fit, I don't ever want to see Antony start. That's how I rate Amad over Antony.

Made some good runs and good passes.

Deserves a start if the alternative is Antony.

Looking forward to seeing more of him.

Astonishing how he shows more in a 45 minute cameo than Antony has all season. If that’s not enough to dislodge Antony from the starting line-up in our next game, Ten Hag deserves the sack for that alone.
We wasted 80+million quid on buying Antony when we had Amad, Sancho on the books even back then.
The opportunity costs! We could have spent it elsewhere.

He's got something about him, but he looks so lacklustre sometimes. That situation with Gibbs White barely being able to run and Amad "chasing" him down was almost comical to watch.
Comical how? He shrugged Gibbs White off the ball and won it back cleanly after a short chase, what more would you expect from him in that situation?

Didn’t exactly set the world alight but showed some urgency, crisp passing and understanding of what he’s meant to do - everything that Antony doesn’t.

Looked to have more technical ability than Pellistri with more awareness of those around him.

I think he has similar athletic abilities to Antony so not going to expect him to be ripping past FB's.

The kid played 10x better than Antony. And he doesn't cost 80m with 200k/wk wage.

He doesn't really need to, nor does Antony. Antony's issue is that he's also a horrific passer and terrible in front of goal, which coupled with his issues 1v1 comes out to have one of the most hopeless attackers that was a regular starter that we've ever had at the club. Amad is solid to good at both of those things and overall just displays a level of composure and IQ that Antony has never shown.

Exactly. Sometimes i wonder what some users here watch during the game, can't be the same thing we're all watching. He's clearly not as sharp as he can be but he showed some good things today.

I get that he was lively and did well but I think we need to pace his involvement carefully until he reaches full match fitness. Go back to Nacho and Rashford on the wings, get Amad coming in later on for now.

Gibbs White couldn't run, but kept the ball for 50 meters with Diallo jogging behind him. He won it back in the end, when he got a little help, but he should have done it far earlier. Wasn't a big deal, just an example of how he still lacks a little intensity at times.

Ten hag should try amad as a attacking midfielder(number 10)
Under a brave manager with conviction, fitness permitting, I can see him ousting Bruno because in as much as the latter is creative he is a net zero kind of player in that the control you give up with him negates his creative impact. A no. 10 should be someone who helps you run the game not a turnover merchant.

This is my fear. PL is a league of monsters now, you need rapid players and we have arguably none. It’s especially key in wide areas. Really we should be looking for a new RW.

Oh yeah people asking him to start are being too impatient, he would be finished after 30 minutes at full intensity and you're also running the risk of injuring him.

Let him settle in, give him 30 minutes every change for the next couple of weeks and he'll be match sharp by February

I think we have like 2 games in January. Not much opportunities for getting match fit

I liked his run against MGW in the end, but beside that he looked abit defending. Also when pressing. Very promising on the ball.

So refreshing to see a RW trying to be decisive with his passing, runs and even shots. Sample size is minuscule but he looks already better than Antony

Similar abilities between 2 players but a different level in footballing IQ could give very different performances. Ben Arfa was more talented than Mahrez even if they were similar but Mahrez was a much more intelligent footballer

Amad tried a few zippy short passes, give and go in the middle third. Fernandes’ innate instinct in that area of the field is to do something wild. Guess that’s what he’s referring to
Ok in that case I’m 100% in agreement. There’s been some bizarre takes - one poster said that Amad had been atrocious. So had to make sure.

No way. He cant lead the press. Bruno kept guiding him during the game.

Hopefully we will get some positive news regarding the injury to Antony!

Has the skillet to mirror Saka or Martinelli, can dribble with close control and has acceleration over 10 yards to go past defenders, offers way more than Antony.
Agreed, sizzling performance out there today. Just needs to start frying up some results for us now.

Agree, think he actually might be the type of player Ten Hag hoped he was getting with Antony, can carry the ball but it is the link play and clever passing that make him interesting. Really hope they don't send him out on loan, this season is a wash, get mins for guys like Diallo and Mainoo.

You cannot underestimate the value of a player who does something sensible and thoughtful with the ball every time. We have precious few of those in the squad. Eriksen, Martial, Amad, maybe Mainoo. That’s probably it (excluding defenders). We have too many stupid, selfish players, which is why our football is stupid and selfish.

Just not been Antony is enough for now.

I don't trust Ten Hag to allow him kick on in the first team though.
