Well we would actually be in the clear for almost 2 years - as the amortization cost would be £120 million a year and we are allowed to run a deficit of about £100 million over 3 years :) (if we take for granted that we break even on FFP for the last 3 seasons - which we dont do)

No seriously - this is why what Chelsea did was SORT of clever (and why FFP only considers 5 year contracts now ) .

Let's say for case of argument they signed just 5 players for £100 million each on 10 year contracts last summer - and then sold us Mount for £60 million (he is pure profit)

The cost in terms of FFP will be £10 million each season pr player signed - so £50 million in total pr season for 10 years. Short term this is brilliant - long term ..... not.... as they need to include these players in their FFP cost for 10 years. But short term - as long as Chelsea sell home grown talent for £50 million a year - they break even in terms of FFP against the 5 hypothetical players they signed.

The problem is of course that they need to sell £50 million of homegrown talent simply to cover the cost of the players they signed last summer - if they were to sign another expensive player for £100 million - they now need to conjure up £20 m (£100 m divided by 5 years) extra to cover that cost. So chances are that Chelsea need to sell at least one expensive homegrown player each year to be compliant with FFP

And let's be realistic - they haven't got that many anymore.
They'll sell Maatsen this summer, probably get £25-30mill for him. Then probably make up the rest through smaller names. It will catch up with them and then the rules will change most likely

Nobody will pay £70m for Rashford because he’s garbage.

Nobody from Europe can afford him at that price and I think we’d be foolish to sell him within England.
PSG paid more than that for Kolo Muani and Ramos. Rashford is a better player than both of them. It's not working out for him here this season but don't forget that he scored 30 goals last season and 20+ goals/season in 3 of the last 5. Of course PSG or someone will stump up the cash if he decides to go and they are looking.

Fair point.

He also absolutely stank the place out for the other seasons and I don’t think another club will be stupid enough to stump anywhere near the fee we’d like AND his wages to make the move viable for both parties.

He’s also ‘advised’ by some next level cnuts who will Undoubtedly advise him to stay at United if he can’t get a better deal money-wise - which is obviously the right advice

That may be true or not, I don't know.

Rashford has had a terrible season, but he is still talented. You don't score the number of goals and assists he has scored here without being really good. However, at this point it seems like that there is a break in relationship between him and the fans. He requires a change of scenery and we need to move on from him. Sometimes it's just doesn't work out. I am sure other clubs recognize that he still has talent and will be ready to pay a decent sum if he becomes available.

I believe that someone will pay the fee but the issue will come from paying the fee and the wages, which I don’t think will happen. This is more than likely to lead to an impasse, which causes us a huge problem because we are lumbered with him

Sancho getting some plaudits this week might help us with both his fee and the idea that Man Utd players might do well away from the club.

Would you have believed it a few years again that we may end up selling Rashford, Sancho and Greenwood all in the same summer? Seems incredible.

If you'd have said someone else would be running football operations as well, I'd have said all of this would be impossible. But here we are. Might be the best thing in the long run.

and all for hugely discounted fees...brilliant. The 3 of them at the top of their game are worth £250 million - we are lucky if we can get half of that

Transfermarkt, which is always more reasonable below actual market prices had them at a combined 225 million euros in the summer of 2021 when we signed Sancho. 19, 21 and 23 years old and seemingly only going to get better.. They're now worth 100 million euros combined. It's absolutely astounding. Three years ago, almost everyone would have been thinking that at least two of the three would be valued at 100+ million at this point, not a combined 100 million. (again, based on Transfermarkt valuations)

Tier 2:
  • Ideally, United wants to bring in two centre backs this summer.
  • Crystal Palace would want a fee somewhere around £55m for the player.

What is our FFP situation? Wouldnt selling someone like Greenwood give FFP a massive boost? I thought Ineos putting some money in the club would help as well.

Are we now stockpiling wingers after doing the same with backup goalkeepers?
I think we are looking to get rid of 3 maybe 4 wingers in this order; M Greenwood,
F Pellistri, J Sancho, Amad, Antony, Rashford with only A Garnaucho being not for sale.

If ever there was a season to prove that if you have any type of European football, even conference League you need a big squad and probably need at least seven to eight options to cover the front 4 positions.

We probably have the following players guaranteed staying right now ; Rasmus, Mount, Bruno and Garnaucho, we might see young Wheatley be involved a little more next year.

I can see Greenwood, F Pellistri, Amad and either Antony or Sancho being sold or loaned out, it really does depend on the who the Manager is next year. Going for a left footed right winger means times up for either Antony or Amad?

On this, a couple of reliable journalists have already reported that the only players who are not for sale are Onana, Mainoo, Garnacho, and Højlund. Everyone else can be sold if a good offer arrives.

I feel like some of the FFP talk is just a negotiating tactic. Setting a different tone to the woodward years.

Guess it depends how much we would actually get for greenwood. He is clearly talented but his situation may still make it difficult for us to get a decent fee
If we sell Greenwood for £30 million - for the first year in terms of FFP that levels out buying 3 players for £50 million on 5 year deals.

The thing everyone forgets is that then means you need to make that 30m every year for the next 4 years to break even. And that's without bringing any other new players in.

Yes - of course - but that is just Greenwood. You can add Alvaro Fernandez, Hannibal to that list - but now we are really clearing players who earn too much so that will reduce our wages dramatically.

Kolo Muani and Ramos were coming off a hot season for club and country. Rashford is not even close to having a decent season. So yeah i dont think PSG are fools

Yeah I agree but also we need to strengthen in multiple different positions so we can't be spending more than 50-60m per position so walking away from some deals is reasonable. RCB, CM, RW, CF for me are haves. 50m each will still take us to 200m. Add a marquee signing like Joao Neves (80M if numbers are to be believed) and we're again in a bad situation.

Source (Tier 2):
Vitor Roque has no intention of moving from Barça, but should he change his mind and accept a loan move, he will not be short of admirers.

Teams like Manchester United, Napoli, Nice or Lyon have already shown interest in his situation.
Vitor Roque, with several suitors in case of a loan
  • Vitor Roque might have to leave on loan due to Barca's inability to meet the La Liga FFP restrictions with him.
  • Sevilla and Real Betis are also interested.
  • Vitor Roque is not interested in leaving Barcelona at this time.

He might be a big talent but a guy with 2 guys in 13 matches for Barcelona is probably not what we need at this time :)
