Mikel Arteta | Lego Pep watch

That's mad that nearly half of arsenal's goals conceded have come from set pieces!

Does the camera pan to the set piece coach every time that happens, or does he only get the credit when Arsenal score a set piece?!

What a moron. Why even mention it, he's won feck all. Just focus on the game today and concentrate on that. Hope PSG batter them.
One of the dumbest things I've ever heard from a manager.

I mean, even in the crazy hypothetical scenario where he could just "transfer" his points from either of the last two seasons to this season, he can expect Klopp to roll up with a massive placard that reads "2nd place with 97 points".

He's basically trying to say what you are saying about Klopp, that teams can have really good seasons but finish 2nd chasing a superior team for the title, but other seasons teams can win the title with a similar points total and even win it early without much of a chase, so sometimes it's about being good at the right time. He just communicates it poorly.

I didn't watch the whole interview, but from the clip I saw, there wasn't much graciousness in the way you suggest. I don't think he's saying that they ended behind a superior opponent despite their best efforts. Instead, he talks about right place right time as if it was more luck than anything.

All this before the easy fact check that even these amazing two seasons wouldn't have been enough to lead the table at this stage.

But he was wrong about the last 2 seasons being good enough to win the league this season. So hes just full of shit and trying to hide his shocker of a league title challenge this season

So how many did the eventual champions have at that point. It has been an off year for the big boys and his team still couldn't step up to the plate.

Exactly. He's basically saying that if his side kept up a level of consistency they would he champions while trying to sell it as poor old arsenal.

I rate Arteta to a level but the absolute best coaches make the time the right time.

It's complete tosh as he isn't winning the league this season. No matter what he says when it comes down to the business end of the league season his team bottles it.

In previous years PSG wouldn't have made it to the semis which means Arsenal would have been finalists

Thank god he isn't our manager.

It's Edu who made Arsenal improve not Arteta.

Arteta looses games constantly to lower league teams.

He definitely seems rattled.

He's just not an elite manager.

On a par with Southgate, Moyes and Hodgson etc.

5.5 years he's been there and despite all the plaudits most fans should logically trade his record for ours over that time.

Arsenal under Arteta: One FA Cup, 2 Community Shields - 8th, 8th, 5th, 2nd, 2nd, TBC (AVG position 5th) probably 2nd this season
Europa League Runners Up

United since 2018/19: FA Cup, Carabao Cup winners - 3rd, 2nd, 6th, 3rd, 8th (AVG position - between 4-5)
Europa League and FA Cup finalists and possibly another one on the way
Multiple semis in competitions

For a man with such hair, he really is the baldest of frauds.

I think that on paper our record is slightly better. But in the actual moment, it's more enjoyable following a team that is genuinely in a title race, even if they end up finishing 2nd.

The only people that think like this are people that enjoy watching their wife get railed by a bigger man.

Ah, remember when Arsenal were going to win the Champions League because Declan Rice was Juninho Pernambucano for one night only?

Great times.

Always weak as piss in their big game performances, since Vieira left they are a shit club, constantly bullied and bottling

700m spend, 5 years, 1 FA Cup and a win percentage the same as Mourinho's at United, and marginally better than Emery's at Arsenal. Had Emery won that Europa Final there'd be little between them.

He's done well to consolidate them in top 4. But he is an immensely overrated manager and the worst parts of his teams come from him.

Tricky one. Arsenal were an absolute mess for awhile before he came in and he made them title challenges for a bit and created a good top 4 team. Its just not winning anything though, even when the team that beat them to the league twice has had their worst season for many years

If Arsenal get rid of him though they could sink back to where they were before. If I were them I’d give him one more season, buy a striker and a bit more squad depth and see how it goes. Thin ice though.

Think you've been watching a bit too much porn son, and are getting your fantasies mixed up with your football.

Obviously you don't have a wife, hence why you've spent your evening nerdishly digging out stats from the past five years, then coming to a terrible conclusion about them.

They really are Tony Pulis’ Stoke City with a bigger budget.

Basically basing their game on set pieces and long throws, diving and cynical fouls yet making the world believe they’re a sort of guardians of pure football is crazy
