Mikel Arteta | Lego Pep watch

Think you've been watching a bit too much porn son, and are getting your fantasies mixed up with your football.

Obviously you don't have a wife, hence why you've spent your evening nerdishly digging out stats from the past five years, then coming to a terrible conclusion about them.
@rimaldo is a well known p0rn addict, you got that right !

At this rate he could go down as one of the most successful unsuccessful managers in history.

I am curious to see what excuses his fans will have for him next season when they don't win again.

Played for corners and throw-ins in the 2nd leg of a semi-final Proper loser mentality and small time tactics. They should just promote their set pieces coach and get rid of Arteta.

I don't really get Arteta tbh. You look at Barca yesterday for example, they threw the kitchen sink at Inter and can go back to Spain feeling that it just wasn't their day and they had a good go. I was waiting for Arsenal to give a similar fight and thought after the Saka goal they'd genuinely have a go.

The last 20-30 minutes of this Arsenal game was bizarre, felt like Arteta was still scared of the PSG counter and they never really had a proper 5-10 minutes of sustained pressure on PSG. I don't buy the whole 'they weren't good enough to do that' gimmick. I'm genuinely of the opinion now that Arteta would rather lose 2-1 than go for it and potentially lose 4-1. If I were an Arsenal fan I'd be pissed.

5.5 years he's been there and despite all the plaudits most fans should logically trade his record for ours over that time.

Arsenal under Arteta: One FA Cup, 2 Community Shields - 8th, 8th, 5th, 2nd, 2nd, TBC (AVG position 5th) probably 2nd this season
Europa League Runners Up

United since 2018/19: FA Cup, Carabao Cup winners - 3rd, 2nd, 6th, 3rd, 8th (AVG position - between 4-5)
Europa League and FA Cup finalists and possibly another one on the way
Multiple semis in competitions
Best post in this thread - underline his and that clubs whole existence. Much noise and jumping around the sideline never passing the goal line.

Should go now while his stock is somewhat high. He's taken them as far as he can which to be fair is just a few 2nd place finishes and a CL semi final.

Ten Hag had the better tenure.

People will laugh but he's done great job over last 3 seasons. First CL semi-final for Arsenal since 2009 (and only 3rd ever for them) + 2 really strong league performances in 22/23 and 23/24. No trophy to show for that's true, but he's safe and only a poor season next year could really make fans and board question him. Arsenal were average side until 2022.

The man genuinely shits himself at the idea of having fewer than 6 CBs and DMs on the field at any one time. His whole gameplan is tactical fouling, time wasting and set pieces.

Horrible anti-football merchant that would make Mourinho blush.

I think many of them are casting eyes elsewhere now. He has a team good enough to win things and his only cup win was just after he joined which suggests minimal impact from him given the lack of success after it. They actually played well tonight but they have no CF and when you play like Stoke and have no Crouch, you cannot win.

That's how it's been this season but Arsenal have shown that they can also play. 22-23 they were playing some splendid stuff. It seems the ending of that season has permanently scarred Arteta.

Look at that forward line today.

Compare that to the other semi finalists.

Only going one way today.

Arteta's European record as Arsenal manager

2020 - Round 32 Europa League exit to Olympiacos
2021 - Semi final Europa League exit to Villarreal
2023 - Round 16 Europa League exit to Sporting
2024 - Quarter final Champions League exit to Bayern Munich
2025 - Semi final Champions league exit to PSG

There must be a world class 'Arteta consoling his players' highlights reel by now. Choke artist of the highest order.

Arsenals level of attacking play has really deteriorated this year.
If it was delap slinging in endless long throws I’d understand it, it’s stoke, they aren’t going to outplay anyone.
Arsenal seem to have become hyper focused on set plays and it’s a little weird. I get there is more than one way to win a game, but this seems to have become the main focus.
Desperately need a centre forward. Or two.
Spend all the money on this, don’t need zubamendi. They might have a shot then.

New sporting director in Berta came in recently and they'll be going all in for a striker this summer I reckon. Only if they fail to win something next season Arteta could be really questioned.

Arsenal have now failed to progress from each of their last four cup semi-finals (2020-21 Europa League, 2021-22 League Cup, 2024-25 League Cup, 2024-25 Champions League)

Not that getting knocked out by PSG is some kind of huge failure, but after six years and £800m spent, Arteta has won... an FA cup. He's an alright manager, but no more than that. His team is the sum of its parts.

I wonder how attractive he’d really be for other clubs if he parted ways with Arsenal in the summer. I think he’d have to take a big downgrade in club size for his next job.

Just shows how misleading a stat XG is.

Arsenal were comfortably out-played, contained and tactically done in all five of those games - at least against us until the Dalot red

Yet still had significant chances in each of the games and failed to take most of them.

That interview was fecking cringeworthy.
He’s deluded. Arsenal weren’t the best team over the two legs. Stevie wonder could see that.
It’s the constant excuses that grate. Never his fault or his team’s fault. Tonight it’s apparently Donnarumma that was the issue. God forbid a goalie saves a few shots.
Ultimately that attitude will hold the whole club back. It’s wrong ( in my opinion) he’s got to own that.

Arrogant, this is why I hope he don't win anything, first leg you were rubbish mate. Delusional

It's baffling he thinks they were the better team. It's why he irritates me. Takes zero accountability
