Shit 70 mins especially the first 25 mins of the 2nd half, awesome last 20 mins

It was unnecessary for us to make it a game when we could have a better control and punished them on the counter, thank God Amad came in and then it become easier.

Thing is if Garnacho takes one of those chances, especially that second one, it relieves the pressure on the whole team. Instead, we get more and more nervy. This is what unreliable attackers do to the rest of the team, much the same as Onana the other way. Amad has that assurance that Garnacho doesn’t.

If anything, this game shows the gulf in quality between our starters and their understudies

I'm particularly worried about Ugarte if I'm honest. We all know that we need energy in midfield, so Casemiro won't stay, but we really need another DM. Lindelof, Dorgu and Hojlund should also not be near this team. Garnacho is also an issue in this system. I think the no.10's are supposed to help support the midfield in possession, but Garnacho's lack of off the ball movement coming to the ball and touch make him as much of a liability as Hojlund is.

Horrible horrible first 65 minute. We looked nervous, messing up simple passes, not pressing, Athletico had full control and attacked at will.

The three subs Mount, Amad, Shaw completely changed the game they were all quality. Mount played with class and skill, so happy to see him score two outstanding goals. Amad is back to his silky best, he makes Garnacho look poor in comparison.
One player who stood out the whole game was YORO, he was class, reminds me of Rio the way he brings the ball out..

Fecking hell, what a second half. World class performance by Mount after he came on. I'm delighted for him, he's had to endure so much abuse and shite times with injuries that I am so happy he got a moment like that. Two fantastic goals, the first for me was the best of the two and that's saying something. The technique to take two players out of the game like that in tight spaces was amazing and great finish.

Also super happy for Hojlund to score again, a couple now in the last few games. We could desperately use a confident Hojlund for the final.

And Amad is just a different maker. He looks head and shoulders above the majority of the team when he comes on. A breathe of fresh air!

I thought Dorgu had a great game. He really needs to improve in the final third and decision making. Blundered so many chances, but he worked his socks off tonight. Running up and down the right all night. If he can just improve his final ball and decision making he could be fantastic player, has a great engine (based on tonight’s evidence at least).

Mount really needed that, so happy to see him get some joy after a rough period in his career.

Amad showed his class from the second he stepped on the pitch. Just so good on the ball. We have such attacking threat with him in the side.

Thought Mainoo had a solid cameo too. Nothing spectacular but was so good in the tight areas and made it difficult for Bilbao to get the ball.

Overall that ended up being a fun game to watch despite the very uncomfortable first hour of play.

Nervous 60-70 minutes followed by brilliant period afterwards. Don't think we were that bad before the subs, but we were unable to score and them being 1-0 up only made everyone more nervous probably. But subs definitely changed the game completely, better attitude and more belief in the stadium. Mount's goal to make it 1-1 basically ended the tie.

We'll need such a good performance in the final and definitely have to have players like Shaw and Amad available (plus few others).

After that incredible game vs Lyon this was surprisingly much more enjoyable. They were great for 30 minutes and then ever since Casemiro's goal to make it 1-0 (and of course red card later) looked different.

Lenny Yoro is going to be a fantastic player. I’m pretty sure thats what Amorim wants to see from his centre backs.

Shockingly shite for 70 mins.

No confidence at all - they don't play unless they are almost forced to play or it's too embarrassing to keep doing what they're doing. It's not just Amad's introduction that changed the game, it's the willingness to take some fairly basic risks by playing the ball to feet to your teammate and trusting that they have it under control.

Right now they think for a second too long to decide if they're playing the pass or not and it fecks everything up - it doesn't happen by instinct. All the accumulated PTSD will take a while to disappear.

On the receiver side it's to do something productive once you get the ball and not pass it back instantly because you're terrified that you'll get pressed and lose the ball.

Lindelof was generally decent. Prone to brainfarts though, and they usually lead to goals. Hopefully either De Ligt or even Maz will play in that position in the final.
