Front 3 of Cunha, Osimhen, Cherki would be so much fun to watch. Yes I realise it's not likely to happen

Didn't he score and assist against us? He looks to be a real old school type of 10. He can play the final pass or finish off either foot. He looks a really interesting player with question marks over his mentality to play on the bigger stage under more pressure.

Scored 2 in 2 against us. Did nothing though, apparently!

Could have had one or two other assists too over the two legs and came close to a wonder goal where he ran through our defence but Onana saved his shot.
 
He looks good at times and bang average at others. Looks like he thinks he doesn't need to work unless it suits him and we have had enough players like that recently to know that we shouldn't touch him with a barge pole. The very first characteristic you should be looking at for any player who isn't absolutely world class is their work rate and attitude. I don't think Cherki gets signed for that reason alone.

Which game were you watching? Was kinda the only spark for them until that kid came on, also scored two goals.

If Garnacho had the exact same performances for us that Cherki had for Lyon most of our fans would be calling for him to be sold. Football is a funny thing, when a player is in style if they try something and it doesn't come off it's an indication of what potential they have, but if they aren't in style and do they exact same things it's not good enough and they need to be sold. I saw nothing from Cherki to suggest he is special or that he is better than someone like Garnacho. His goal in the first game was an Onana error, not impressive play by Cherki.
 
Let's remember that he's only 21. He's being judged in here like he's in his prime, but he's a young player tasked with carrying the attack of Lyon. The work rate might be partly down to instruction - they probably want him to reserve his energy to try to affect the game when he has the ball. Against us, he recovered and got back into position defensively, and he showed a good turn of pace numerous times to go past players. I think the comparisons to Hazard are quite apt, he looks a similar player in certain phases of the game.
 
This is definitely one of those transfers that fans want and isn’t even slightly on our radar.

My guess is that its not because we aren’t interested but other clubs have agreements with his agent and we’re not attractive right now.

He had 8 key passes over both legs (4 each game and more than any other player) and two goals. Who scored and Sofascore both had him rated as the best player on either team in the first leg and second only to Casemiro (and Harry, per Sofascore) in the second leg. Garnacho on the other hand was utter rubbish in the first leg and decent in the second leg, getting one assist over both games and missing a 1v1 to put the tie away at Old Trafford. Cherki may not have had virtuoso performances against us, but he was one of if not the most effective player in the tie over both legs.

I don’t know where this nonsense that he played poorly came from. Maybe it’s the fault of posters like me that have been hyping him up. Either way, I’ll take those kinds of performances from Garnacho every bloody week. Garnacho has 1 goal, 4 assist and 20 total key passes this season in Europa and Cherki has 4, 8 and 45 with about 15% more minutes. And yes, Cherki passes the eye test also.

So no, I don’t think if Garnacho had those performances that we’d be begging for him to be sold.

Let's just agree to disagree at this point, bud. To say he did nothing against us over 2 legs just displays some sort of 'bias' you cannot debate against.
 
There's been a flood of newbies who make posts that sound like they may not be Manchester United fans, despite what their profile says. Just saying
 
He's definitely worth the risk in my view. If Ekitike stays put for another year, reuniting Cherki with his France under 21 pal would be the dream scenario next summer.

Yes but he will only have a year left on his contract come summer and looks to have no interest in extending. So if an offer in the neighborhood of €20-30m is tabled I doubt Lyon would refuse considering their financial difficulties.
 
This is the guy we should be after. Someone is getting a steal this summer. I doubt he goes for more than €40m. And he has the talent to be a truly top player.
 
I really really want this guy at the club. He's exactly what we are missing up front alongside Bruno. Some one who can also score goals AND create good chances to those around him. He seems to have good awareness and decision making.
 
if we can get him for under 40m then we should. Good things happen when we buy those who tear us a new one
 
I need to see me a Cherki operating in the R10, a Cunha operating in the L10 along with a Gyokeres or Osimhen type foward as our preliminary front 3, with Amad Zirkzee and well say Obi for now rotating. Too sensible so l wont hold my breath!
 
He’s so good and finding himself space and getting a shot on target, a sorely lacking quality in our attacking options (other than Bruno).
 
We might be incompetent but why isn't any big club touching this transfer? It seems like a no-brainer

Yeah it is a bit weird. Don’t think I’ve seen one solid link from a reliable source.
 
I assume it is the attitude concerns that have been brought up several times previously.

Unless they just don't rate his performances on the pitch all that highly. They think he's the kinda player who is more suited to a club like Lyon but would struggle at one of the biggest.

The idea that when they ask their sources about his personality they get told he can be hard work, and that makes them think twice, seems the more likely of the two to me though.

We know from Textor's leaked messages that Dortmund and PSG are interested. I'm guessing Cherki already knows where he's going, more or less. He's been wanting to leave for 3 years and only signed his last extension because Textor threatened to vanish him from the team if he didn't renew.


Edit: I meant banish but now I like the idea of threatening to vanish someone and it kinda works.

If he moves to Dortmund at this point then I think that certainly suggests the big teams were not in fact keen on him.

PSG would be a different matter and would potentially explain a lack of close attention from other suitors if they're led to believe that's already in the works.
