Wayne Rooney has confirmed he wants to leave Manchester United.

Here is his statement in full:

"I met with David Gill last week and he did not give me any of the assurances I was seeking about the future squad.

"I then told him that I would not be signing a new contract.

"I was interested to hear what Sir Alex had to say yesterday and surprised by some of it.

"It is absolutely true, as he said, that my agent and I have had a number of meetings with the club about a new contract. During those meetings in August I asked for assurances about the continued ability of the club to attract the top players in the world.

"I have never had anything but complete respect for MUFC. How could I not have done given its fantastic history and especially the last six years in which I have been lucky to play a part?

"For me its all about winning trophies - as the club has always done under Sir Alex. Because of that I think the questions I was asking were justified.

"Despite recent difficulties, I know I will always owe Sir Alex Ferguson a huge debt. He is a great manager and mentor who has helped and supported me from the day he signed me from Everton when I was only 18.

"For Manchester United's sake I wish he could go on forever because he's a one off and a genius."

Where did ya get that statement from ?

He has blamed Gill and the Glazers, knowing the fans already doubt the Yanks and hate them. It's a bullshit excuse. Ambition is about striving to do better, he's running out on the club where he was meant to be the 'main guy'. He's a fecking money-grabbing coward. feck him and feck his agent.

From another perspecvtive its surprising enough he talked to Gill about the future of the squad, yet Fergie is the one who doesn't see value in the market.
The thing here is Rooneys camp have pulled a blinder here.

They have targetted the one person that many United fans distrust the most. David Gill.

They are clearly saying that its not an issue with Fergie, that its the promises being made by David Gill that are not convincing enough.

David Gill has openly said the money is there for Fergie. Fergie has in his defence taken Gills word for it and relayed that on.

Now somewhere along the line, Rooney has sat with GIll, and what GIll has said to Rooney doesnt match what he's told Fergie, and more importantly, it doesnt match what he's told US.

1.Since when does the club have to go through our future transfers with Rooney.

2. Fergie says he wanted out in August, and Rooney is saying he only decided last week ( what a cnut ).

3. " For me its all about winning trophies" - Bollocks, its all about £££ for you Rooney.

Scholes should have broken the twats legs.

Also...where did the "breakdown with the manager/frozen out" stuff come from then?

Didn't work did it, so they had to change tac

Complete an utter bollocks.

But that wont stop MUST an the gimpoids using this prick of a player as their standard barer for the G&G movement....which is actually going to put me right off it.

Using the movement to try and curry some favour with the fans after he's basically sacking the club off after one non league winning (but cup winning) season in 4 years is disgusting.
Maybe it was all the excuse he needed.

At least SAF can say something tonight.

A big IF I know. But IF we spend good money to replace him then it would be shown up as rubbish.

He can feck off, ungrateful lying prick. I've never seen anything like this from a player of his stature. We made him what he is and he's come up with a bullshit excuse for acting the cnut. Sell him to Madrid or Barca. If he wants to go City then let him rot in the reserves for the next 18 months.

If you break it down, Rooney is basically saying that he doesn't think his team mates are any good. And future assurances? It's football, there are no guarantees!

Nice script, I doubt he could remember most of that himself, and there are words in there he would never use, he is not bright enough, anyone can issue a script like that on behalf of Rooney, heard Lou earlier, two points THERE IS NO DOUBT IT IS JUST ABOUT THE MONEY, and a veiled reference to the fact this has a lot to do with agent

Glazers will now probably have to put their money where Gills mouth has been though. If we don't spend after this then it will be a clear signal for other players as well. Whether Rooney is right or wrong (and he might be right, even though I don't think that is the reason for leaving) the owners must feel some pressure to splash some cash right about January.

He trusts fergie but not enough to believe he can manage the team to future trophies. bit of a reason in displaying ambition but thats just hollooow.
Exactly. Great faith. Fergie's great, Fergie's brililant, but err, he can't match my ambitions. Yeah, right.

There is one thing thats going to come out here.

Rooneys camp have put the issue firmly on the map, and David Gill is going to have to come out and tell everyone EXACTLY what was said in that meeting.

People defending this prick, because they actually believe the shit he just put out....hahaha.
I just hate people that fail to have a view of both sides of the arguememnt we are club that lies.... Yes players lie!!! But seriously look at both sides of the arguement!! A player that is arguable one of the best players in the world has every right to ask who is coming in.. Where are the 1st teamers?

I'm not having any of it. He's basically trying to make himself look like the good guy by directing hatred towards the Glazers which he knows the fans hate anyway.

feck him. The sad thing is some people will buy this BS

So Wayne Rooney decides he does not want to stay on August 14th despite the transfer window not having closed.

He thinks a club which has won 3 PL's, 1 UCL, 2 Carling Cups, 1 Club World Cup and been the runner up in the UCL once in the last 4 years can not match his ambition?!

Rooney in May: "If we can bring in 2 big-name players in it would give us a good chance of getting the League back."

Obviously he's thought about this for quite a while.

I just thought he wouldn't be as fickle as this to leave us in such a manner. Even Gerrard had gone through worse and stuck with Liverpool, in spite of him nearly signing for Chelsea.

I guess there is no way back.

Exactly.

If Sir Alex is a genius and one-off, than how about not fecking off and blaming the club for not showing enough ambition. Does he think that SAF would let something like this happen to this club?

It was always just money. Wayne Rooney is a fecking prick.

Ambition? One of City's favourite words nowadays isn't it?

Get fecked, Wayne. You are persona non grata at Old Trafford. Hope your career falls to pieces as you sit in your giant mansion with your bank account full of "ambition".

Yup. And no comment on the injury disagreement.
Indeed...Odd that Fergie said August but Rooney says last week...around the time all this nonsense about being frozen out/not having an injury etc etc started coming out

Maybe it was all the excuse he needed.
...Of course it is. He's trying to get the fans on his side by using fan unrest at the state of the finances (the only thing that he could possibly use) to cover the fact he wants to be on 250k and has absolutely zero loyalty or respect for the club he's won everything with for the last 6 years.

The sad thing is some will fall for it just so they can start shouting about Glazer again...This is ALL about Rooney.

It makes no sense to think Rooney's thrown a tantrum because we didn't sign Messi this summer.. All the unrest over Glazer and the finances was happening last season...last season when he was saying he wanted to stay here for life FFS.
