Welbeck can play out wide, too.

His previous performances on the wing for us have been pretty dull, but he seems to have matured a hell of a lot over the past 12 months.

Really looking forward to seeing Welbeck (and others) this Summer at the U21 tournament.

Left foot as well which is a bonus...if he's developing into an allround forward then we have a real star in the making here.

Apparently had a goal wrongly ruled out for off side
What's impressed me most since he's gone to Sunderland is how other parts of his games have improved.

There's never been much doubt over his technical ability and his loan deal has meant he's improved other parts of his game which may not have been developed had he stayed here. He seems to be a lot stronger on the ball and Bruce seems to have taught him the importance of defending from the front. Certainly has a very rounded game now.

No.

He's been back for about 3 weeks. He played and scored for England U21's last week and also came on for the senior England side on Tuesday.

First time I watch City in a while, they're starting to look a half decent side. Not that Sunderland's been overly impressive today, but still..

feckers are gonna stroll to fourth. Was always a forlorn hope expecting perennial bottle merchants like Spurs to keep them out.
Yep. Look at Spurs' last four fixtures: Blackpool, Wolves, West Ham, Wigan. I would have thought they'd comfortably get 8 points from those at least but they got 3. They could easily have been 2 points ahead of City going into today with all the pressure on the Berties, but they've left it too late now.

Spurs have won 3, drawn 5 and lost 2 of their last 10 league games. That's fairly horrible for a side of their quality, Champions League distractions aside.

Enough time for a Welbeck double hattrick?

I must admit I had a guess at todays score being 6-0 to City, but I am not a gambling man so I did nothing about it. Bet the odds would have been pretty good on that going into the match, but 10 minutes left and very much achieveable. Bloody City.

Edit: Too late to jinx.

Meh, arrivistes like GastonSpur have made me dislike Spurs almost as much as City anyway.

Off after 24 minutes in today's game with what looked like a knee injury.

Hammy, apparently, which is good considering he's had problems with his knee before so it's not a recurrence

That's the problem. Took their European adventure far too seriously. Becoming s regular top 4 team should have been the aim.

This! Harry sacrificed both cups and the league for Champions League football like he actually thought he had a chance of winning it. Like seriously. Round of 16 was a great achievement enough. Focus on the league and if you make it past that...great!!!

I don't know, reckon him staying at Sunderland would do him more good. It's always easier not having to adapt to a new team and Bruce's a more than decent manager at helping his team and a player's self-interest.

If we were going to loan him out again I don't see why it wouldn't be to Sunderland. They've proven that he's going to get games, he seems to of settled there and he's seriously improved since he's been there.

I'd be surprised if Fergie let him go for another year.

I'd keep him at the club until January at the very least. In the first half of the season he's more likely to get games in the FA Cup, Carling Cup, Champions League group stages and obviously some league games too.

Has his loan been ended? Someone wrote on his wiki that Sunderland ended it for him to get treatment with us.
More an enforced end through injury(hammy). He's been back in Manchester for a few weeks now,my son has spotted him more than once out and about

Sunderland resigned to losing Danny Welbeck - SAFC Latest News - Sunderland AFC - Sport - ChronicleLive

Welbeck was a hit during his loan stay with the Black Cats and, while boss Steve Bruce publicly admitted that there was no chance of a permanent move for the England Under-21 star, he privately held out hopes of another loan next season.

But those hopes were dashed this week as, during discussions between the clubs over a potential £12m triple move for Darron Gibson, John O’Shea and Wes Brown, the Red Devils made it clear that Welbeck will be a part of their first-team squad next season.

Really dont see where he's going to fit in tbh, another loan at somewhere like Everton would be good as part of a deal that brings Rodwell to us
