    I'd take a draw now. We then need to kick on and start picking up points in the 'easier' games.

    A draw wouldn't be a bad thing, I think JM will be of this opinion, but I think United will be in a better frame of mind after the last two results and I don't think Chelsea are as good a side as Liverpool at the moment. Looking for Pogba to kick on after Thursday in particular.
    Costa will be on the deck and flailing his arms around when he comes up against Bailly, who is all over opponents physically. Just hope the ref doesn't fall for it as he will hit the deck at every opportunity.

    Do we know who the referee is?

    He cannot afford to lose this, it would kill him.

    Think he will go defensive and hope for a fast break away goal.

    DDG
    Valencia Smalling Baily Blind
    Young Fellaini Herrera Rashford
    Pogba
    Zlatan

    Too much Young in the predicted line ups. He's cack and shouldn't ever be starting. We look a million times better with Lingard and Martial out wide.

    Hoepfully we see a front four of Mata, Lingard, Martial and Ibra.

    Slightly worried about Chelsea being more rested than Utd. They aren't in Europe at all whereas we have less than 3 days between the games. Not everyone who played against A Turkish Team will play here, but still. Euro hangover is a problem for many teams.

    Tbh I really don't see the difference between either. Both have been very wasteful. Part of me just wants to see Martial up top with Mata behind him.
    I partly agree, for me it would be rashford uptop, martial and who ever else is on the other side so we have better movement upfront, than the very static zlaten or rooney.

    In a perfect world it would be
    DDG
    valencia smalling bailly blind
    carrick/fellaini herrera
    martial pogba young/lingard
    rashford

    I feel zlaten's form has been hot and cold, it would be great to breath new air into our frontline by starting rashford upfront with his movement, and with martial looking allot better we have more potency to counter chelsea, with pogba martial and rashford ability to hurt chelsea

    I don't think he'll start Young. He used him for a specific strategic reason against Liverpool. Conte's Chelsea play completely different football to Klopp's Liverpool, and there's certainly no reason for a winger like Young whose main job would be to defend against his opposite number.

    The main question for me is whether Jose picks Fellaini, to help counter Chelsea's physical players, or Carrick, to dominate the ball. Hopefully the latter. Lots of evidence that Carrick-Herrera-Pogba is our best midfield, most suited to all three players. Let's use it!

    :nervous: Exactly, I fear he'll be up for conning Bailly in this one.

    Based on the logic that Blind needs protection from pace whereas Valencia at RB doesn't. I wouldn't throw Shaw into a game like this after just returning from injury.
    Although, if Smalling is really injured, then Shaw will have to play.

    Impossible (or really demanding) for a 35 year old Carrick to play 90' a few days ago and then start against Chelsea.

    Mourinho «doesn't know his best team, because he doesn't want to know.» Nice!

    Nice to see the overall feeling towards Mourinho on Shedend is still positive. Was thinking he'd get booed.

    Would be fun to see a club that has only 5 Premier League titles booing the guy that got 3 of them.

    I can't believe we've already got another game tomorrow. It's felt like ages since we've had games coming thick and fast, and I've missed it.

    Keep a clean shit tomorrow, United is my final bus
    Can't see Carrick featuring at all. He's played well in both his recent games and I think Mourinho will keep him for those type of lesser games unless he's absoletely needed. Jose seemed reluctant to praise him even when pushed by the interviewer after his performance against Northampton and i think there's a reason for that.

    It seems he's getting the bit-part/backup role for his final season.

    We lost points to Watford and Stoke and havent beaten any top side by then if we were to draw Chelsea as well, that wouldnt make me really confident about us tbh. We need a win, and they're not that good.
    We don't win many away games even against worst sides than Chelsea. After todays results a draw wouldn't be too bad for us.

    Interesting.

    Probably injured, or has Mou reached the point where he can drop Rooney even from the match day squad?

    If so this happened faster than most anticipated.

    With results so far this game turning out to be an excellent opportunity to tighten up the gap to the top 4. Just not confident we can take advantage.
    And the gap to the top of the table

    Both the sides will play cautiously in the first half, test the waters. Mourinho because he is playing away at Chelsea, Conte because, well, he is Conte. The second half may see a little more aggression from Chelsea when United will look for their opportunities in swift counter-attacks.

    Likely changes from the last match: Valencia for Darmian, Blind for Shaw, Fellaini for Carrick, Herrera for Mata, Martial for Young and Lingard for Rashford. And of course, Zlatan for Rooney.

    Travelled squad (according to M.E.N.):

    DDG, Romero, Johnstone;

    Darmian, Valencia, Smalling, Bailly, Blind, Shaw, Rojo;

    Herrera, Fellaini, Schneiderlin, Carrick, Pogba, Lingard, Mata, Young;

    Zlatan, Rashford, Martial

    I think Chelsea are starting to look good now, Conte is starting to get things to click. Think it is a less than ideal time to face them, especially at their place.

    So many defenders in the squad list makes me suspicious Smalling isn't really ok.

    I had a look on there too. Nice to see the respect for Jose. That forum is a bit dead though isn't it? Is that the main Chelsea forum?

    both of us are in a similar place i think, they are probably wishing they had our defence and i am wishing we had their attack of hazard and willian
