ETH strikes me as a sensible guy, so hopefully this will be the wake-up call that tells him that the likes of McTominay and Rashford are nowhere near the required standard. Serious questions also have to be asked about the likes of Sancho and Fernandes.
I'm sure he'll figure it out. Today is disappointing but not really worried, unless we start losing to every dross.
Would like to see some sort of changes made to the system and personnel for the rest of the 45 mins. We won't win bar a miracle, so may as well show some good intent for the rest of match.

This is absolutely horrible, and it has happened so much in the last few years that I'm not even surprised anymore. But now I'm actually terrified to watch the second half. What a shocker from the players. Everyone having an off day and looking like they couldn't care less.

They didn’t ‘keep possession’ - they got from their box to ours with complete ease throughout the game. They are just nowhere near as decisive in the final third. They were passing around us in a similar fashion, but often over passing and picking the wrong final ball.
But that's the hardest thing and biggest difference between City and the rest. And that's why this was or anything close was not happening against Arsenal.

I can already see it now Ronaldo planting the seeds against Ten Hag and why are he and Casemiro sitting on the bench for these pretenders? Leaks will be starting again for sure.

I mean is there a result so bad it would lead to that? 4-0 down at HT is a joke. Not that I'd get rid yet but this is worrying.
Granted it's been absolutely diabolical but I can't see EtH getting fired for one bad result against this City team. We've just won 4 in a row and he's only been here a wet week.

There is no intensity here, unlike against Liverpool.

Midfield is sliced through like butter. Defense is exposed. Forward toothless.

This is not all on McT, he hasn't been good but at least he has made a few tackles. The rest of the front 6 are back to observing defensively.

Cas should have started, why buy him if not for these games?
Not changing a winning team is fine but you have to look at whats in front of you. This midfield had 0 chance against this city team. Bruno essentially plays as a striker, Eriksen has done well in a deeper role but he’s not a natural CM and Mcsauce is well, himself. We didn’t have a prayer against these guys with that midfield. It is horrible team selection and I said it in this thread before the game.

Didn't like how the ref set the tone, giving out soft yellow cards for first challenges. Dalot had to be cautious from the get go, but the midfield have been wasteful in possession and our defence have been under pressure from the start because the midfield and front 3 offer no hold up player or attacking outlet which have threatened City's defence

Sat the kids down an hour before kick off to tell them their mum has brain cancer (genuinely, sorry for the gloom).

Put the game on hoping for something, anything, some fight, to give us a bit of a lift.

And then they do that. Cnuts. All of them.
Oh mate. My heart goes out to you.

Eriksen is a natural no 10. He can play in a deeper role in a team were United will dominate the midfield but not in this game. We should have played with a 3 CM formation McT and Casemiro with Eriksen as the most advanced midfielder, Bruno as a false 9, Rashford on the left and Sancho on the right.

Unsurprising score. Too nervous so return to default position of playing down the wings and not using the middle of the park.

City have been good. Some sublime passing but my God it's been easy. Foden and De Bruyne have had more space than I care to count. It's easy to move around and ping it sweetly under no pressure.

Is Casemiro injured? I know Eriksen and McTominay have played well recently but this is Man City. Unusual decision.

Damage limitation in the second half. Only one game and City are going to walk this season at least 20 pts above the nearest rival on this form. Keep them from scoring in the second half and focus on next week. And play Casemiro!

As bad as our defenders have been they are playing every possession 4 v 7 because the lazy immobile teammates in front of them haven't tracked a single late runner all game. They aren't even doing any defending away from the ball, just watching.

This is possibly the one of the greatest PL teams of all time we’re losing to. Take the L and move on.

Firing Manager based on one result, even if it is 20:0 is idiotic, that is why everyone is laughing at that post.

As much as I want to lay this on the players, this one is on the manager. Rather arrogant set up if not naive.
This is only on the Manager,
It’s a derby which requires high intensity
Shaw should have started, Casemeiro and Fred also in midfield, ETH won’t be able to afford too many more thrashings like this he’s starting to show huge levels of arrogance and he has no PL experience, if he doesn’t learn and learn very quickly he might not last the season, you can lose a game sure but it’s how you lose a game, no energy, no intensity, Malacia and Dalot are simply not good enough at elite PL bring on shaw, Cassemeiro, Fred, Martial now bring off Antony, Mctominay, Bruno, Sancho and play 4312 and see if we can have sone respect on the match, I don’t want to hear anything about Mctominay or Mallacia both not good enough !

It’s not on McTominay directly, and he hasn’t been directly at fault, but his glaring deficiencies wear down the side. In the same way that De Gea hasn’t been directly at fault in any of the goals, but his lack of authority and sweeping make City’s aggression in front of goal easier. In the same way that Rashford hasn’t directly been at fault, but his complete lack of intensity from the front makes it easier for City to play out. In the same way Fernandes constantly loses the ball by instantly going for a killer pass.

And so on and so on… our squad from a profile perspective fecking reeks. How can we spend so much but still have a side that knows how to do nothing but counter?

Can't agree with this. Ok, put in Casemiro and Fred and take out McTominay and Eriksen. The other 9 have also been shite. There are too many individually poor/abysmal performances to place the blame at ETH's door. We still have the same culture of players not working hard enough, players believing their own hype, players not wanting it enough, players not doing their jobs, and players not taking individual and collective responsibility at the club. That won't change right away and it will take a long time to fix that.
I know it may not change everything but we decided to do nothing in this game. Our gameplan is neither here or there.

How many times has the City center backs allowed to run with the ball straight through the midfield unchallenged and laying it off to De Bruyne or Foden that's 2 feet away from De Gea.

    Where is the fecking midfield?

    This is on the Manager
You cant play a 1 man midfield against city
He had to to play Scot and Casemiro/Fred
It’s like he hasn’t watched city play before
We got away with it against Liverpool and Arsenal
The Manager is learning on the Job…not good

Get Casemiro and Martial on for Rashford and Bruno, try and stop this getting any uglier.
